Ummm Hi Girls about my latest picture.....I've been having to go to my mom's really early for the eye drops and I don't normally drink coffee........LOL! Just wanted to peek in and say Hi! I'll catch up with everyone soon.   Connie

Good morning!

Sorry I haven't been around lately.  It's been just about all I can do to log my calories and exercise and check in on the Biggest Loser Challenge I signed up for.  Tonight's going to be a bit of a challenge since we're going to a baseball game.  It's hard to do that without having a hot dog and a beer or two!  I'll have to make sure I drink plenty of water beforehand.  I've definitely got to do my Couch to 5K before I go because I know I won't do it afterwards!  Hubby's going away for the weekend so I'll be missing him!  It's strange to be apart for even a couple of days after 25 years of marriage, but we'll survive.  I've got a bigger challenge in front of me Labor Day Week-end.  We always go to a big camping party in West Virginia and drink a lot of beer and eat a lot of food.  I don't know how that will fit into my plan, but I think some cheating will happen.  I need to try a lose enough weight that it won't hurt me too much if I gain a couple of pounds.  Then we go to the beach for a week the end of September and it will be the same thing.  Hopefully I'll be able to run enough to work off at least some of that!

Well that's about all for now!  Will check in later!

Pam

Momo - Congratulations on the all time low.  That's so great.  I'm ready to get back there.  I know what you mean about the shots.  I had one in my knee and came back to work.  Big mistake, about an hour later my boss and another one of the guys had to drive me home and help me to bed.  It was the worst throbbing pain I had ever experienced.  I could not stand to move it at all.  It was horrible and when I called the nurse she said that sometimes it flares up like that.  It was 4 days before I could walk again.  I had them before in my neck without a problem even though they didn't really help me.  I'm so glad those didn't do that.  I really think the doctor must have hit a nerve in my knee because of the way it was throbbing.  I hope your pain eases up and you can get walking again.

lucyalus - I can't wait for it to get better either!  It's been a week now and I'm really missing my walks.  So, those shots didn't help you either. Some people they do help. I wish I were one of them.

Doing absolutely nothing today. It's hot, so I'm not missing the outdoors much. I want the cooler weather to hurry up and come back!  I'm a winter type of person. I don't like snow and the ice much since I've gotten this back problem, but I use to! But I much prefer fall and winter over summer anyday! :)

Some good news! My daughter is in cosmetology school and yesterday an owner of a high end beauty salon came into the school for a presentation of the haircuts he gives (he's known for giving haircuts while the client stands up) and his techniques for shampooing and that sort of thing. He even has his own hair products, which I could never afford! lol  I can't even afford a haircut in his salon!  Anywho.....he offered my daughter a job!!!!!  OMGosh!!!  His hair stylists make $1000/wk!!!!!  OMG, OMG!!!!  I'm just so excited for her!!!  Of course, she has to start as a shampoo person (making $8/hr) until she passes her boards and she has to go thru HIS school (6 months) and do 1,000 cuts and 600 hair colorings before moving up to the 2nd floor, which is his salon where she'll make the BIG bucks! She'll still make good money and receive alot of gifts downstairs in his school, but the client pays less for the things they do there.  AND get this....he told her he has a big room in his building where the stylists put all the gifts they receive or their stations get stacked full of them and they have no where to work!

This could be the start of her career she wants!  Some of his stylists travel overseas with him too and do styling for models on runway and magaizes. THATS what my daughter wants. But to work mostly with "famous" people. My daughter is also a makeup artist and knows alot about skin care.

I have tons of anti-wrinkle, anti-aging, stretch mark creams! She don't want her mom looking old! He quized her on her knowledge of the products he had there with him!  She knew who invented them!  Pretty cool!!!

Sorry for the short story, but I had to share this with you all!!!!  I'm just so darn excited for her!!!!  The other girls in the school were all giving her "looks" afterwards and the only one that could be happy for her was her instructor. The one over the whole program. That's so sad that these girls had to be jealous and couldn't be happy FOR her!  So, after she's officially in, I'm going to treat her out to a nice dinner to celebrate! :D

Will be back later! :D

Tammy that sounds soo great, wauw!Laughing It's always a shame when people can't be happy for one another, jalously is an ugly monster that grows when people feel insecure... My oldest daughter sings, she's good at it too. When she was 9 she was selected to play in the musical Sound of Music, a set up with pro actors, an enormous project travelling around. She had time off from school, had fun and learned a lot - but also had a really difficult time when she was at school because the other girls were extremely jalous. By the way, - she's just been asked to sing at a Valentinesday concert with a big brass band, they pay her good money for it too; so here's one more proud mumLaughing Hopefully in two or three years time she's off to an education to become a pro, that's her only wish and dream, and she's working hard to get there.

I so hope for you that your pain will lessen!

Hi pam, - you'll be ok! Good for you that your in this so seriously.

Ah Con, there's a charming pictureYell - I don't drink koffie either, is that how it makes you feel?

Lucy - now there's a funny thing, "growing out of" minding so much what other people think. That's another reason why I would NOT want to be 20 again, worrying about others alllll the time.

I zapped into a great tv program yesterday, a BBC production: it was about the trues and falses about losing weight. Great stuff, really useful and a good few extra's to help with the CC. When I have the time I'll find a way of putting it here somewhere, sharing the information with all of you - it was great! Innocent

Have a nice day all!

momo -that's great news about your daughter.  She must be beyond excited.

Tru - my stepdaughter has a great voice also but gets stage fright but she does want to use her musical talent, maybe in music ministry.

I just finished lunch and have almost eaten my days alotment of calories.   I guess a salad is on the menu for tonight.

Fay (the storm) is supposed to be paying us a visit during the next few days.  I plan to clean out my closet while stuck inside.  Hopefully we won't lose power or anything like that.

I'm still trying to find out what's going on with my tummy.  Had another test today so I should get that back next week.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Hello all,

Busy time here...tomorrow we take #2 daughter 7 hours to her first days as a freshman, race back and hubby drives daughter #1 19 hours to her sophmore year. I'll be home for the second shift, going back to the classroom! Kids are back after Labor Day, but we work a week getting ready for them. Franky they are both so wound up...nah, I'm still going to miss them like crazy.

I'll be back as soon as I can!

Alylou

Hi All,

My dad passed away on Sunday, the 17th.  My parents' 63rd anniversary was Monday.  I felt guilty at first because I did ask Dad to try to make it for the 63rd.  He answered, "I'm here for her.  I'm always here for her."  He was.  I so appreciate all the kind words that have been sent--especially since I am so new here.

Cantlose--You are amazing.  I was glad that you shared your story.  It made me realize that I had a real goodbye.

Alylou--You are right.  Helping others will help me.

Now I am going to go quietly into denial for awhile.  I have asthma and COPD--on top of other things.  My breathing is shot right now.  So I have to block out all the emotional stuff and deal with my health issues.

Thank you again,

DEB

Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry about your Dad Deb, I know how much that hurts.  I lost both of my parents i the late 80's.  Try to remember the good times of love and laughter.  They will get you through, and one day you'll realize it doesn't hurt quite so much.

I had a hot dog and two beers at the ball game but it didn't seem to hurt me too much.  I've stayed on track otherwise.  I'm supposed to meet Hubby for dinner tonight somewhere along the Chesapeake Bay so I'm trying to eat light today so I can eat what I want tonight.

I just finished Week 5, Day 3 of Couch to 5K and it is really surprising me.  I just ran 2 miles!  I would never have thought I could run two blocks let alone two miles!!  This C25K program really does work!

Time to get cleaned up from my workout now!  Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Pam

Dear Deb, I am sending you many thoughts of comfort. I do know the way that you are feeling and can totally appreciate all that is in your heart and mind right now. The emotional range is unreal. Do take comfort in knowing that your Daddy loved you very much and you him and that you shared a very special bond like no other. I don't know how or if you are a spiritual person but realize (if you are) that God had more important work for your dad to do and that you will see him again one day. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. If you need to talk privately go to my profile and email me ok?! I'm here if you need me.

On the stress side try and find ANYTHING that will help you to relax and unwind. Don't be like me and find that in food. You will beat yourself up about it..trust me!

Throw your emotions into your Mom for awhile...it sounds like its what your Daddy would want you to do. I knew that's what mine would have wanted and so I did. My parents were married 62 years when he died. Hard times.

Do take time out for JUST yourself though. My heart truly goes out to you. Take care and keep posting when you can.

Your friendInnocent

Connie

Deb,

I'm so sorry for your loss.  I'm praying for you and your family.

Back again.  I always want to get here, but just can't do it every day lately.

Deb-sorry about your dad.  I'll pray for your family.

Connie-glad your mom is doing well!

Aly-Sounds like a busy weekend!

momo-that's really great about your daughter's job offer!  She must be really great and you must be so proud!

Hope everyone else is doing well!  I've been not watching what I'm eating for the last few days and my weight has gone up instead of down.  Trying to start over again today.  I just have to keep starting over!  I have been walking most days now, so that helps.

Mikayla has been on the medicine for her amoeba for a week now and is doing better.  No more diarrhea (after 6 weeks of it!).  I found her a pair of shoes that help hold her ankle straighter so that should help her walking.  It's really difficult to find shoes in baby size 6 with arch support!!!!!

Michael goes to the doctor for his ankle on Tuesday so still waiting to see about that one!

I'm going to try to get here more often.  I really do need the support!  I think part of the problem was not sleeping well, hopefully that's been resolved.  See everyone soon!

Betsy

Hello again!

Hotel has WiFi, so I thought I would check in.

Deb so sorry about your dad, may your healing be quick and thorough. Connie, your message of sympathy is touching to us all.

Did not eat well today, driving 7 hours meant a lot of munching on snack food. Daughter is excited but not nearly as nervous as she might be! Thank goodness.

G'night, Alylou

Hi all,

Tropical storm Fay pretty much missed us and went north of here.  Wahoo!

I bought a Total Gym today and have already tried it out.  I'M SO EXCITED!  I really need some toning to go with my walking.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Deb ~ I'm so sorry about your dad. Thoughts and prayers going out to you.

And I 2nd what aly said Connie. Your message is great.

Well, went to McD's the other day and I stayed within calories but yesterday was up 3 lbs! Today I had lost one of those 3. Two more to go!!! lol  Drinking lots of water...

Tomorrow I'm going back to my walking again. Feeling pretty good now. I haven't walked in 9 days!  I soooooo need it!!!!  I can go up and down the stairs pretty good now so it's time to get outside for some exercise!!! YAY!!!  :)

Well girls the stress eating is catching up again....weight this a.m. 137. I'm having the terrible "cramps" thing beginning again..I'm hoping its something else! Menopause is hell! Other than that had kinda of a relaxing weekend. Had to go to moms 3x a day for the eye drops but she doesn't live too far so not a problem. It wouldn't matter though if she did. She is doing very well with the eye part but something is making her nauseated. Maybe one of the drops.

I hope everyone else is doing well and EATING THE GOOD STUFF! I am having difficulties sticking to my scedule right now and it is showing up on those scales!

For the girls also on the other 40's forum. I keep having problems getting to that forum....maybe when I have a little more time I'll figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Have a wonderful week friends!

Connie

Sounds like everyone had a quiet weekend!

Connie-I'm glad to hear your mom is doing well.  Praying that her nausea will go away quickly.

momo-glad to hear you're feeling better!  I hope you can take a nice walk and enjoy yourself outside!

lucy-glad Fay missed you!  How's the gym going?  We got a bow flex a few years ago but I haven't been using it lately.  You've reminded me that I need to start up again!

aly-glad your daughter's doing well and not too nervous.

I had a good weekend for eating and walking.  I had still gained almost two pounds, though, but this morning I was down 1.6 from yesterday.  I started eating a little less than the amount of calories I'm supposed to just to get it going back in the right direction.  Hope that works for a few more days, I still have about 4 lbs to go to get back to my preChina trip weight!  My oldest daughter has gymnastics camp this week so I'll be in the car driving her.  That should keep me out of the house away from food!

Hope everyone has a good week!

Betsy

Some of the flooding from Fay actually found us last night and this morning but then it calmed down.  Of course now there is another storm out there.  Just part of the fun of living on the Gulf Coast.

I'm doing a little better stomach wise but having problems with my right upper chest being sore.  I'm seeing the Obgyn Wednesday just to be safe.  I'm wondering though if I may have hurt something not wearing the right undergarments during exercise.  It started hurting while I was walking on day.  It was one of those OUCH moments and it's been bothering me at least a month now.

Betsy good job staying on track with everything you have going on.  You are a true SheRa.  If you don't remember who SheRa is she was the Princess of Power in a cartoon that my daughter watched when she was small.  She was one strong woman!  I hope I still have enough energy for grandchildren by the time they get here.

Everyone have a great lite week.

Lucy

Hello,

I feel like someone opened the spigot on my toe and drained me all out. Having both my girls go off to college in two days...well I guess tears are a form of weight loss.CryCryCry

Connie, I'm glad your Little Mamma's eye is doing well! Is she on any oral antibiotics too? They often double up pills with the drops, if so that might be the issue, if not it might be the drops...my daughter had 4 eye surgeries, so she was on them for months and I don't remember them ever making her nauseous. It might also be some totally unrelated bug. I hope you feel better soon, eat lots of soy, it might help.

Momo, so glad your pain is subsiding!

Lucy, Glad you have that new workout equipment to work with while the storms roll over you! A good sports bra is ESSENTIAL, especially for any of you that have more endowment than ME!Undecided

Betsy, I hope your tribe keeps healing and lets you get the rest you need!

Going to bed, yes, at 9pm! I am back to work this week, and the driving, crying, and trying to plan a new school year has me pooped.

G'night, Alylou

PS: NEXT POST IS 700!!!!

Good morning everyone!

Lucy-hope the flooding isn't too bad there.  I agree with Aly, definitely need a good bra while exercising!  I surely don't feel like a Princess of Power, but thanks!  Smile

Aly-it must be so hard to have everyone leave!  Sometimes I think I adopted the girls so I could delay that moment!  By the time they leave I'll probably have grandchildren to think about so it won't be so bad.  Going back to work at the same time would make it harder but hopefully it'll take your mind off the girls a little.

Today my oldest son goes to the orthopedic doctor, we'll see what he says we should do next.  Meleah has her second day of gymnastics camp, life is so much easier when there's one less child (for a few hours, anyway)!  My younger son has his first day of biology lab and he's really nervous about it.  He's never been to school since preschool and is worried about the work, fitting in, all those wonderful high school feelings!  He is very sensitive (was crying because he got a C on his English work last night) so it's hard for him.  Mikayla has gone from having diarrhea several times a day to being constipated!  I guess the amoeba is gone from her tummy anyway!  I'm doing really good, though!  I lost almost two lbs from the highest I've been since we came home.

Gotta go start running!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Betsy
