Hi Ladies

Sorry I haven't been around. Work has started (teacher) and so I'm in the rat race again.

Weight loss is going ok. Not great some days but pretty good others. I'm still waiting for surgery (on the 19th I think). To stay un-stressed I try not to think too much about it and I read  A LOT. Keeping a positive outlook helps.

We've started building our ark because all of August it rained and now September is rainy too.

I hope you are all doing well. I may not have to much time to keep up with the writing now that work has started but I'll check in once in awhile.

Take care everyone

Janet

Hello all!

Nice to hear from skn/sue and Janet! Life does get in the way sometimes doesn't it?

Sue, I have had your boy on my mind, I hope he starts to feel more at ease and confident soon, for both of yours sake! How was the gym?

skn/sue, does all that rain reduce or increase the amount of hay you get? I am sure it must make harvesting harder, I just wondered how it effects yield.

Betsy, how did the assement go? are they satisfied with her development?

Truus, Have you gotten better yet?...ouch.

Tammy, good for you to be so motivated!

I have a great bunch of kids this year, last year was soooo bad I really wonderedif I had lost my love for teaching. But this group are "teaching" me otherwise!Laughing

I will be fairy involved in a polital campain this fall, so if I am an infrequent poster, please forgive me!

Connie? oh Connie????????? Helllllllloooooo.........

Alylou

Hi everyone!  Glad to hear from everyone.  Life definitely does get in the way of things we want to do sometimes.  Mikayla's assessment went well.  She averaged at 30 months for most things and she's 35 months old now.  Not bad considering she lived in an orphanage for over 2 years.  Her gross motor skills were only at 20 months, though, because of her ankle/foot.  They said she needs physical therapy and probably a brace.  The doctor we'll see next month will let us know for sure about the brace.  Physical therapy should start sooner than that, though.  Tomorrow she goes to the regular doctor because she apparently has thrush from taking the antibiotics to get rid of the amoeba.  Older son went to his first physical therapy today for his ankle.  Tomorrow he goes for a consult about pulling all of his wisdom teeth.  And I thought this would be a quiet week!  I have managed to get two walks in both yesterday and today, trying to prevent too much damage from eating too much last weekend!

momo-sounds like your eating this weekend was about like mine!

skn-throwing all those bales of hay should be making you lose weight I'd guess!  Maybe it's all turned into muscle.  It sounds like a lot of work.

sue-sounds like fun to see your daughter be the drum major!  Your son will even out eventually.  This year (9th grade) has been a LOT better for my younger son.  His emotions have been much calmer so far.  It was really hard for me to deal with when he was younger, too.  I'm not sure what to do with a boy at that stage!  I guess the girls will be worse from what I've been told!

janet-good to hear from you!

alylou-glad you have a good class.  I know how draining a bad class can be!

I've got to get ready for tomorrow.  Doctor at 9:20, piano lesson at 11:30, oral surgeon consult at 3, gymnastics and meeting at 6:30.  I guess the clothes won't get washed again and my mom will have to wait another day to go to the store!  I think I should have some free time on Monday.  Cry

Betsy

I can't complain today.  I'm using a health food remedy of apple cider vinegar with the mother in it and water before meals for my heart burn and it really seems to be working much better than the meds were.  I also had a massage after work so feeling pretty mellow this evening.  My weight seems to be stuck though.  I'm blaming it on the meds I had been taking lately and that I've been working out on my new Total Gym.  You know muscle weighs more that fat. LOLWink

Betsy ... I get tired for you after reading about your life.  Your kids are truly blessed to have you.  I'm trying to get in shape before grandkids appear so I can attempt to keep up with them.

Aly...glad you have a good class.  My daughter switched from 5th to 3rd and has a good class this year. Thank Goodness.  It's an extremely hard job.

Janet... I'll keep you in my prayers for your upcoming surgery.  I hope everything goes well and you have a quick recovery.  Please keep us posted.

Skn.... If you can lift haybales you are the WO-MAN!  I'm sure that is great toning.

Sue....I LOVED watching my kids in the band and yours has the top job so it's great to be proud and enjoy it.  I was a band mom, a track mom, a basketball mom, a cheerleader mom and it was so much fun and it goes so quickly so enjoy every minute.

Momo- How's it going getting back on track?

Everyone have a blessed rest of the week!

Boy that was a lot of reading! My eyes started to go crossed looking at the screen for so long! lol  :D

I'm still not quite on track yet. My calories are much better than Monday though! But now I want junk!  I think I let the cat out of the bag and it's running wild! I have to get a grip on this quick! Anyone have suggestions?

Teaching is a very hard job and I don't think teachers get paid enough for all the work they do. My hat is off to teachers everywhere! :)  Having a good class makes it so much better.

Skn - My grandfather on my dad's side had a farm and we all use to "haul hay". What I really loved was when my grandpap would cut the hay knowing there was rain on the way and make us all rush to get the hay on the wagons and in the barn before it rained!  So much fun!  I was a really in shape teenager back then. The muscle I had then was crazy! I just never realized how in shape I was.

Connie - Where are you? You use to post alot and we miss you!

Janet - Build that ark girl! Keep us posted on the surgery. Good for you on staying un-stressed. :)

c ya tomorrow! :)

Morning everyone - just a quick 'hello' but I've gotta' ask lucy about the quote above -- surely a misprint, right? I've never heard of apple cider vinegar with mother in it! Not that my mother isn't occasionally sour, but still . . . . Wink

I second, third, fourth (?) everyone's comments on teachers. You all work so hard and are shaping the future. I've worked as a sub for 4-5 years and the long term jobs I've done have just KNOCKED me OUT! What a responsibility, what a personal investment you all make (homeschool moms too).

Have a great day all  -- rain or shine -- keep on going!  Sue

LOL  No misprint.  The "mother" in the apple cider vinegar is the goop that is on the top when it is made.  The kind you find in a grocery store is filtered and doesn't have it in there.   The bottle I bought actually says on it that it contains "the mother".  It's doing at least as good as taking the meds twice a day when the normal is once a day so I'm pleased with it so far.  Well except for the taste that is.  Frown  It being watered down helps.

Something to note if anybody thinks about trying this is to make sure to research it for yourself and it has to be mixed in at least 8 ozs of water to keep from damaging your throat or stomach.  I've been using 1 to 2 teaspoons in a glass of water with meals.

LOL I was wondering the same thing about "the mother" part! I knew someone would ask what I wanted to know! :)

Alright ..... I weighed myself this morning......verdict is +2 lbs as of today. Who knows how high I was after Mondays binge of goodies after the funeral. I'm glad I never looked at that number! I just have to get back to basics now. I'm ready! :)  Motivation is present, full speed ahead! lol

Hello, I am still here...just not been keeping up with my CC stuff lately - no excuses really, just lost the plot for a while... I will blame summer!!  However, I have not actually been gaining any weight - managing to stay pretty steady on the scales, surprisingly :)

I am sure I have missed out on LOADS of news from all you regular posters, I must try to play catch up on everyone's stories!!  BUT...I am leaving for the UK this Sunday and will be away for almost 4 weeks.  Daughter is moving back to uni at the end of the month, but we are going over early to have a surgeon look at her shoulder, with hope that we can get something done key-hole before the start of term.  (She has had several dislocations for those who aren't aware).

So for now I will just plod along doing the best I can...but once I am back home again in October I will be raring to go!!!!!!!

Bye for now!!

Suz

Suzen, we are glad to hear from you! We had visions of you blown/washed away! I hope you get off the Islands inbetween storms. I know that the news media makes every storm seem much worse than it is, (my mother calls all the time: Are you snowed under? and we'll have a couple of inches. lol) but I wouldn't want to try and fly through any hurricane!

Momo, glad you didn't gain more, I am sure you will be back on track in no time.

gotta go run errands, Alylou

suzen - glad to hear from you!

I weighed in this morning and down some more! YAY!  One more pound to go until I'm back at my lowest again. :)  So, of course, I'll weigh in in a couple days to see if I can get there! lol

I ate good today, even though something I ate yesterday (think it was the turkey lunchmeat) made me sick as a dog. :(  My stomach is still messed up and just don't feel right yet. No walk today. Hope tomorrow I feel perfect again and I can go on my walks.

If anyone lives on the south-east coast, I'll be thinking of you with this hurricane coming. I live on the east coast, but not near the water. We are suppose to get some rain off of it and we really need it. But not so much that there will be flooding. Thank goodness!

Take Care everyone and have a nice weekend! I'll be watching the Steeler game on Sunday afternoon eating chicken wings (hubby's homemade hot wings) and drinking beer! lol

Hi everyone!

lucy-glad the home remedy is working!  Sounds hard to swallow, though.

momo-good attitude!  I still have to lose about 1 pound to get back to where I was before we went to China but it's coming off.  I'm determined to make it happen this time!  We're near Philly so we're going to get a lot of rain this afternoon but I don't think it's going to be as bad as they first thought.  We'll be watching the Eagles!  Not that they'll ever do very well...........

suzen-I hope you can get a doctor to do the surgery on your daughter before school starts.  Have a great trip!

My older son says that after two physical therapy sessions his ankle hurts more than before!  I told him he'd have to talk to them about it and see if there's something they can change about the therapy.  Anyone else ever had that experience?  He also has an appointment to get all 5 of his wisdom teeth pulled out at the end of this month.  Poor kid, he's breaking down at 17!  Everyone else is good and I only have to take one person somewhere today!  I have other errands but I'm hoping I can do them alone.  In quiet!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Betsy

Hi all, just a quickie befor running a zillion errands.

EDIT: THE ORIGINAL! Post 751 is probably not a straight shooter, I would be careful about following links or going to sites listed.

now that it is momo, you may all pay attention. lol

Everyone on the eastern seaboard is in my thoughts this weekend! hang on!

Alylou

hats off to CC! a quck note to Coach K, and they fixed it right up! Thanks Coach!

I ignored post #751, as I think everyone else did too! lol

BETSY - They say we have a slight chance of rain later on today/tonight, but not much! Eagles???  We watch them too since they are a Pa team too. Gotta support all the Pa teams, even the college teams. Thats what hubby says! :)       & nbsp;  With therapy, you have to "work through" the pain then it gets better. It hurts like heck, but that's what you have to do. Believe me, I know all too well about the pain. When I started to make myself walk again (was in a wheelchair/walker user for 2 yrs and then decided I wasn't going to stay that way) it was painful, but I kept on and now I can walk 3 miles with a little pain but doable. Tell him to keep going and don't give up!!!

Took a walk last night!  After I googled it, it was 2 miles. I walked around the block til it just got too dark.  That was my first real walk for quite some time now. Gotta get back in the swing of things now.

It's cloudy and windy so it'll be nice to walk today. Need to "destress" from yeling at my son earlier. Why is raising kids so hard sometimes? Especially when they talk back and give you no respect!!! GRRRRR

Well, outta here to go on my walk!!!!  :D

Oh, 4got! Hubby's buying me a HRM!!!!! YAY!!!!!

momo-we had a LOT of rain and wind here.  There was a tornado not too far away but we were just outside the warning area fortunately!  My younger son loves the Steelers!  We love the Eagles but know that at the end they will mess up somehow!  Well, my husband hasn't figured that out yet!  Thanks for the advice about the PT.  I thought he might just have to work with it until it helps but wasn't sure.  I'm glad for you that you had the strength to start walking again!  I can't answer why raising kids is so hard sometimes, but I know it definitely is.  If I remember correctly it's hard being on their end, too.  Not that they should get away with talking back and being disrespectful, though.   Hope you had a good walk!

Betsy

Oh, what's a HRM???

Betsy - Therapy really helped my neck one time but then when I had it on my back I started hurting a LOT worse.  When I told the therapist this she told me that it wasn't my back and all I needed to do was exercise and she dropped me like a hot potato.   She literally sent a message to my doctor to that affect and wouldn't see me again.  I couldn't believe it because I really had liked her and had a lot of faith in her.  I'm still thinking about writing her and telling her how bad the bulging disc turned out to be after a MRI and how dissappointed I was in her.  Luckily after researching the new disc decompression machines I found a chiropractor here that had one.  20 treatments and $2000 later my back only has a tinge ever now and then.

I ignored that strange post also.

I had emailed Connie and she said she'd be back soon.

Hi all of my "loser" friends!! Like I told Lucy and Aly I will be back to my normal rambling self soon. It will take me a couple of years to catch up with all of you but will soon do so!! Miss you all!

Connie

Hi!

Do any of you get bad allergies? My nobe id all stupped up!

I think I lost a pound today just blowing it! (euuuwww!) I should buy stock in Kleenex...

Connie, you are worth waiting for.......

Sue, I am sure you are busy with the band duties...but don't forget us! Your summer heat, and my winter cold start looking OK when these hurricanes brew up!

Lucy, are you in Ike's path? (trying to remember where you are exactly...) Many blessings to all of you who might be in his way!

Edit: projected path now takes Ike into the Gulf of Mexico, so I guess you Eastern seaboard types will be spared...but poor Cuba! and I hope he doesn't turn towards Louisiana...

HI all -

Gee what did I miss in post 751? I wasn't on for 2-3 days and it sounds like we had some sort of strange troll invade our happy space.

These hurricanes sure are something this season - praying for all of you affected and hoping things calm down. We're still oppressed with heat out here in the west - way over 100* still. Will autumn ever come to AZ?

momo-I know exactly what you mean about being stressed after fuming at the kids. I always feel exactly the same way (don't we all?, even Connie with the cat-kids). I, unfortunately, tend to follow up with lecture, lecture, lecture - even though I KNOW they aren't listening anymore. If anyone is familiar with the old "Far Side" cartoons there's one about a dog, and the dog owner is talking but all the dog hears is her name ("Ginger, blah blah blah, Ginger, etc"). My husband and I always seem to be blah-blah-blah-Gingering when the kids are driving us crazy.

Hey Aly - watch that 'stuppy nobe' - that's how I started a few weeks ago - thinking it was allergies mixed with a head cold. Ended up at urgent care with that whole ugly rash thing all over the place -- still recuperating a bit from all that.

Great to hear from Suz and Connie - looking forward to more from both of you when you can.

lucy- I had never heard of the "mother/cider" thing. Thanks for the info. Thanks for the comment in my journal, too.  Betsy - good luck with your son's therapy and I was glad to hear that Mikayla got a good report from her assessment.

Congrats to all who've been keeping their weight loss/maintenance going strong throughout all the other activities. Do you all find it easier or harder to lose weight/maintain when you are really busy? I used to think it was easier -- no time to eat-- but now I think it is harder because I tend to eat unhealthy if I am rushed.

Bye -- Sue

Hi all,

I'm not sure if Ike will come this way or not.  I'm very near the Alabama Coast.  It looks like it may follow a similar path as Gustav and go toward Louisiana or Texas and many folks there are still without power.  Cry  I heard it hit the Bahama's pretty hard.  My prayers are with all of those experiencing these storms.

I have been fighting allergies but with me it's like my nose just won't let enough air though and I'm not really congested.  I have to use Flonase.  That was a little something that cropped up after turning 40.

I hope everyone has a great week!
