Sue I DO remember that far side! SO very true! I also feel often like the adults in the Charlie Brown TV shows....WAH WAH WAH WAH... is all the kids hear!  My son just heard me giggling and did the "Wha?" ....I tried to explain what I was laughing about AND THAT SAME LOOK CAME OVER HIS FACE!  All he heard was blah blah blah! LOL

And yes, a troll is exactly what he was. Trying to sell us something I think, but half his post was gibberish.

Am trying to take care of the stubby nobe, but I HATE feeling dopey (which reminds me, where has Truus been?)

Lucy, glad you will not get hit, We will keep praying too for those who have been hit. My allergies came on in my 40's too. Ugh. this aging thing stinks.

By the way I have/am updating post 570 on page 29 to make sure everyone gets in...just in case anyone wonders who/where someone is. Do let me know if I have left anyone off...it is confusing to keep track of...

G'night, Alylou

CONNIE

Connie,Connie,Connie, you have got to stop bottling up your feelings!Wink

I hope things level out for you very soon!

Alylou

Hi everyone!  It seems like we're all in a pretty good mood right now! Laughing

aly-hope the allergies are better.  My son gets them pretty bad, too.  I'm only allergic to live Christmas trees!  I kept thinking I was sick every Christmas for several years until I realized that I felt much better outside than inside.

Sue-I think it's harder to lose weight when you're busy, too.  It's just so hard to make sure you get the right things and so easy to eat whatever you see!  With my life lately it's been very difficult to eat well.  I remember the Far Side cartoon, too.  Yes, I think my kids react like that when I start lecturing, too!

Connie-good to see you!

I hope everyone has a great week!  I decided last night that I'm taking Wednesday off and the girls and I are going to the zoo.  We need a day to just play and do nothing else!  Talk to you all later.

Betsy

I checked on Truus.  She's finally doing better and will be back soon.

Glad to see you back Connie.

Betsy, the zoo sounds like fun.

Have a great Monday everyone.

I wish I'd start feelling better!  I have this stomach ache that won't go away! I bought Phazyme and Tums and it seems to help some. Now my hubby and son have it! I mean your stomach hurts so bad you can't move! It's awful! :(  Yesterday I was watching the Steeler game and as soon as I ate, my stomach hurt like heck again. So I spent the rest of the day laying in bed.

The Steelers WON!!! YAY!!!!  You all might as well get use to my Steeler talk now!  I'll be mad when they lose, and excited when they win! I have a terrible towel that I hold onto during the games and I decorate the tv room every time they play. And everyone who watches the game here has to wear something with Steeler on it! lol

I'm loving my new HRM! Shoulda bought it along time ago!  Now I know I'm not eating enough on my exercise days. :(  No wonder I've been stuck in the 170's so long.

Ike is going right to Houston, TX and Louisiana. And I feel so bad for the people in the Bahamas! I saw it this morning on the news. so sad it was to see the devastation. Wish I could do something to help.

CONNIE - Nice to see you're coming back! Missed your posts!

BETSY - HRM is a Heart Rate Monitor. You wear it while you exercise to get an accurate burn number. You have to set it with your resting heart rate then when you exercise and it goes up it can show you how many calories you're burning. I used mine today on my walk and I burned over 800 calories (going up and down hills) which is so much more than google pedometer was telling me.

ALY - I acquire allergies at 40. Never had them as a child, but boy when I turned 40 they showed up! Along with an intolerance for milk! My dad always said when you turn 40, you fall apart! lol

I've been battling the same 1 pound for 3 weeks now and this week it won.  I love this site and I think the support is fantastic.  I think the only thing lacking is the accountablity.   So I'm going to try harder to be accountable to the group.  I'm recommiting and intend to lose this weight for good.

How is everyone doing with their weight loss or maintenance?  Is there anything I can do to help.

I started on CC  July 15th, 2008, I've lost 10.5 lbs with another 54.5 to go.  My goal this week is 2 lbs.

You go Lucy!

I'll hold you accountable. 2 lb this week or, ... or, ...or, ... well I'll think of something!

Smile

Alylou

LOL or... or.... you won't type at me anymore.  LOL  Just make me explain why and that should do it.  Have a great Wednesday all.

Lucy, I'll do this with you! 2 lbs this week for me too! Starting Wednesday? I've been playing around in the 170's for way too long. But I think I wasn't eating enough. So I've increased my calories since I got my HRM.

I started CC on January 24th (day before my Birthday) weighing somewhere around 200 lbs. I'm weighing in tomorrow and I know I'll be around 174 lbs. We'll see....I'll let ya'all know.

I ate way too much junk this evening. Ice cream, m & m's, chips & dip!!!!  What the heck is wrong with me? I know I have to weigh in tomorrow and still I ate that junk! I did so good all day, then......BLAM! The urge to eat and eat! I think the fried pork chops triggered my eating badly. I shouldn't have eaten them. They were the boneless, thin pork chops so I didn't think it was all that bad. And I had the calories to eat them, so I did.

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Hi Girls! I really think it must be something in the air...both the eating and the stomach problems! I have been purposely eating junk food with a very bad "I just don't care attitude"....cause I have not been feeling well- is my latest excuse!! I'm HOT flashing like I'm sitting in the ARIZONA sun mid summer and having nightsweats as if I am sleeping in a sauna in the middle of the sun in  ARIZONA mid summer! Now I'm sure all of you girls understand I like nothing better than to be referred to as HOT but ........  YellSome nights I wake up wondering if I'm sleepwalking through a shower!!!! Hey do ya lose water weight while night sweating! LOL! I weighed in this a.m. and am at 136 so as always since maintenance i am up and down 3-4 lbs. I am really surprised due to what I really have been eating lately. I need to watch out though it will all catch up one day!!

I thank all of you ladies for not giving up on me, checking on me and MOST of all understanding me with all my quirks and still wanting me to keep posting!!!

I've still had a whole lot going on and have yet to catch up on all of you completely but wish everyone continued success and HAPPY days ahead!

Go STEELER'S!!!!! Yeaaaaaay raaaaaaah! You know that's just for you Momo cause I'm not a sports fan......I am glad your team won though!!!!!

Sounds like the HRM is a great thing and maybe we all need one! UMMMMM well I personally need to start EXERCISING first!!!!!

talk to you soon friends

Connie

Thanks momo.  I weigh in on Monday's to keep me honest during the weekend.  I'll check on you on Wednesday.  Or maybe we can set a certain day of the week so that anyone that wants to can talk about their gains or loses for the week to make it easier to keep up and help each other out??? Input anyone?

Hi Connie - missed you girl and you're right it will catch up if you aren't careful.  You've been doing an amazing job maintaining though. Laughing If you don't want to try the cream I suggested check with your local health food store.  They may can recommend something to help you with the hot flashes and night sweats.  I had the night sweats bad after my hysterectomy but the cream got me though that fairly quickly.  I don't have to use anything anymore.  I wonder when I lose weight if the problems will start again.  Fat produces estrogen.  I hope not!Frown

I weigh in everyday unless I'm having my MENOPAUSE MENTAL MALFUNCTIONS *known here after as the MMM's!! Wednesday's sounds like a good day though to either gloat or bitch depending on what's necessary to survive and a good day to coach eachother through whichever the case may warrant!

Lucy I haven't forgotten about that creme but have been so swamped with things and really have had some stomach issues...I seem to catch everything coming and going these days...Also have to set up Doctor appt for the left arm now (doing the exact same as the right one did) I thought about going back to the chiropractor but my gosh something is obviously going on...Is it just my body having FORTYFAILURES??? DO THEY STOP AT 50 OR BECOME MORE SEVERE?  Anyway I figured I would discuss all the body parts I need replaced or overhauled with the doc then! LOL I had stopped all of the periods, hot flashes and night sweats until I lost the 40 lbs and my Mom even said "do u think its the weight loss"? I thought WHAT?????? Now you have me wondering really!Surprised

Ok gotta go for the 2nd eyedrop round!Innocent

Connie,

I don't think the aging failures ever stop once they've started.  We just have to learn to deal with/or control them as best we can.  All of my arm pain comes from my neck.  You may need an MRI to pin point what the exact problem is.  Chiropractors are sometimes great but you have to keep going because they can't make it well they can only help.  It's like getting a hair cut or your oil changed, it's maintenance.  I choose that way for now because I'm not ready for surgery.  How's your mom doing?

Oh also.  I lost a lot of hair one time after losing 90 lbs and my doctor said it can cause a real upset with your hormones so the weight loss very well could have something to do with it.  After several months my hair was back.  You're body will even out it's just a matter of when.

Hi all

quick post in between school and cross country meet (my son's...no I have not taken up running! not with this knee!)

Hair loss can happen if weight is lost too fast for your body to adjust. I'm glad you are being more sensible about it this time Lucy.

Connie, bummer about your OTHER arm going south on you! But good girl that you haven't gained much!

I have had a weird weigh in week...although I have been eating, eating, eating my weight went down! It actually has made me nervious, I do not want or need to loose more! hmmmmm any ideas? (124.2 this am....)

gotta go...Alylou

ALY - Send some of that weight loss my way! :) I've been stuck in the 170's forever!

CONNIE - my dad has always said once you reach 40, your body just falls apart! And when I reached 40, I noticed alot of changes. Sounds like losing weight may have caused the changes your experiencing with the night sweats. Strange how weight loss can effect your body in all types of ways.

LUCY - I don't think I can lose 2 pounds by Monday! I use to weigh in on Mondays for that same exact reason. Well, we could do Mondays and I'll just see if I can drop anything by then. Then the following week, try for the 2 pounds. Let me know.

I have a friend on here who is trying to maintain and she's not doing so good. She gains and loses 5-7 lbs constantly. To me that's not maintenance. I really don't feel that she's actually changed her eating habits at all. Eating at buffets all the time (just about every day) and junk and she eats ALOT!  I don't know what else I can say to her about the way she eats. She does eat fruit and veggies and salads. And she drinks alot (alcohol). What can I say to her? I tried telling her today without sounding mean to her. Her hubby makes her eat with him (and he's overweight himself) and she doesn't tell him no, but yet complains to me about it. I told her she has to start telling him no that she can't eat like that anymore or she'll gain weight.

Help me out ladies, ok?

What day would you like to fess up with me momo?  Wednesday?  That will be fine with me.  Just let me know.

I'm not sure what you can tell your friend other than maybe just set an example.  People with weight problems are just like people with smoking or drinking problems they usually aren't going to listen and will change when they get ready.   Sorry I'm not any help on this.  I've dealt with too many people close to me that had bad problems and I know how it feels when they won't listen.

Aly I lost the 90 lbs in a year on Weight Watchers so it wasn't that fast and at that time the Weight Watchers diet was very balanced.  You ate so much bread, veggies, meat, dairy a day instead of points.  Maybe I still wasn't getting enough of something.  I know when you starve your hair can fall out and your teeth.  I know someone that happened too.  Scary!  The hair loss freaked me out because I was losing it by the handfuls but it stopped and all grew back in like the doc had told me it would.  I kept the weight off for 5 years until I met my second husband, got happy, and lazy. Frown

Aly how is school going?  My daughter seems to be having a pretty good year with her little third graders.  They are tracking the hurricane now.

Have a good Thursday all.

Hi all Smile

Being in the process of getting back to normal, I've been reading up on you guys. I have one very important tip that I gather many of you could use: I have "had the hots" as well and I've never had any of the MMM-problems since I started this:

Phyto oestrogene! Phyto means herbs - so we are talking about natural hormones. What you do is find a reform shop or go on the internet and buy a bottle of these capsules. I don't know the brands in the US, but you need to look for 100% soy isophlavones, made from "not genetically modified soy". Depending on how bad your MMM is at the moment, you'll need to take a total of 50-100 mg isophlavones a day. The effect is incredible, the costs low - try it.

I'm finally pain-free and without pain-medication, slowly recovering from the operation (and the load of medication, I suspect). Tuesday was a good day - so I went and did way too much, - result: that yesterday was a bad day, sooooo tired. Frustrating, but on a positive note: it made me think how I've been living my life the past years, and that working loads some days or weeks and then lying low for a little while before working loads again, might not be the best way to grow old - the costs might be too high. So I'm trying to learn - I learn easily mind you, except when it's about me and my own life Yell Now why is that, I wonder???Innocent Besides, I actually like life that way - lots of action and then a quiet break. But I tend to overdo it - and then I'll end up having "pains": a bad arm, knee, shoulder, fingers, wrist. Sounds familiar? Hm. Yeah I've been there, but I took hold of myself then and changed a lot in my eating habits and my life then. Only, like I said - these things have a way of creeping up on me again laterEmbarassed

I like Lucy's idea, Lucy  when I get myself back on track, can I join?

An idea of the same type, and connected to the weight loss (cause as we all know too well, our eating habits and weight are for most of us connected to how we feel): How about checking in once a week with the physical stuff - and what we did to actually help ourselves there. You know - did I see that doctor, or am I actually planning better know... And how do one do that... You know - checking a bit more up on each other than now: did we "remember" to do something for ourselves? Would that help? Or would it get a bit too "controlled"? Let me know what you think...

Have a nice day!

Hi Truus! The last part of your post sounds good to me as well. I'm not too "controllable" but at the same time I DO NEED A KEEPER! LOL No seriously I think it is a good idea and maybe we can help eachother in more aspects than just weight loss. I right now am in such a shape I NEED all the advice but maybe once I get through this part I can be one to help out with my experience! Did that make one bit of sense? You guys know me and my RAMBLING! I'm not sure if I started THAT in my forties!!Wink I may have just started my ramblings when I met you guys cause I want to tell you about so much and join in BEFORE I forget what I am wanting to say! Hey theres one for you ladies...Are YOU noticing a difference in thought and memory?????

Also I will look up herbs on line cause i doubt I'll have the time to find a shop here that carries them! Glad to hear the cost is low!

Momo I agree with Lucy. When your friend sees how well you are doing it will be like a lightbulb going off in her head. Until she's ready to be dissaplined (msp)about the weight loss and learns to IGNORE a hubby (boy now I see why I am divorced) she will stay exactly where she is up and down with the same 6-7 lbs this time next year and YOU will be at your GOAL!!!!!!

Aly I am not eating another bite until you get down to 123!!!! WOW 124 you "DAWG" CONGRATS!!!!! I'm so proud of you!

Lucy Yes you are right about the MRI my doc actually suggested that with the right arm problems but money wise/no insurance..he decided to suggest the chiropractor for now. I bet when I go next week about the left side the MRI will be in my future!......THERE WILL BE A SAVE CONNIE'S HOME AND CAR FUND RAISER ON.....LOLCry

Bye for now early morning drops are waiting!

Have a great day everybody! IT'S RAINING here thank the GOOD LORD above!Innocent Maybe our drought wil be over soon!

Connie

Connie-hon, - now that you mention it, I've had a lot of new thoughts lately - I thinkYell

No seriously I do forget things, but mainly because there's so much stuff on my "hard-disk", at least that's what I believe. I have this theory that there is so much memory space in my brain and when that's full it starts up a kind of unconscious selection process with criteria that don't necessarily correspond with what I find important to remember... On the other hand I find that my brain space is expanding when it comes to making connections and analyses, and I rather enjoy that.

Any practical ideas on how we get the "keeper-function" a bit organized?
