Let's not discuss my weight right now. Yell  I'm losing the same 2 pounds over and over.

I have too much chaos in the house right now.  Contractors are fixing up my third floor, which is disruptive enough, especially when they have to punch holes to put in plumbing. Surprised  I'm trying to finish some sewing before next weekend (when I go out of town), but my machine is starting to act up (I think the timing is going off) and I'm trying to baby it so I can get through (it would be so annoying to try to pull one of my old machines out and get it functioning).  My sleep has been poor, and my eyes feel sandpapered.

I'm just feeling tired, cranky, and overwhelmed.

I decided to make some chicken paprika as a comfort food, and I looked at the pan of it and realized it was not 4 servings (as listed) for me - it was 8.  There's no way I could eat an entire large chicken breast WITH pasta to sop up the sauce; half would be *plenty* - I mean, I needed to eat veggies too!  And by doing that, even with a cup of CREAM in the sauce, the calories go down to a reasonable level of 350 (including the pasta - I didn't have much; just enough to give the sauce something to cling to) with the side veggies not adding much to the total.

I am feeling better today. Just some sniffling and an occasional sneeze! I went for my walk today too. That was nice. Ended up burning 660 calories after a little over an hour of walking. Stayed away most of the hills to avoid a coughing attack. Maybe tomorrow I can walk more hills to get more of a burn. I thnk tonight will be a better sleep night too. What a relief!

Hubby has the worst of the cold now. I told him to hang in there it gets better. He's such a big baby though! MEN!!!  Can you believe I have to give him his cold medicine? Noone was giving me mine. LOL

Have a good night everyone! :D

Hi girls! Well its the weekend and that is usually where I have the most "diet" problems. I did weigh this a.m. as always and am back to 131 again. I am happy about that number really I am but now that I've been bouncing around in what I wanted to be my goal weight I find myself just wishing to be like 129! Just so it would be in the 120's I guess. WILL I EVER BE CONTENT? The 120's is really too small for me but its my mind that wants it?! Does that make sense to any of you?

Momo glad you are feeling better. Take care of hubby. You know you married ladies have an extra "CHILD" when they get sick! I do remember that!

Axe I'm crossing my fingers for your sewing project to be finished without problem!! That same 2 lbs thing sounds like the plateau that we all suffer through! You really probably need more calories for a few days.

Aly 125! Thats great! How tall are you? How much more do you want to lose? or are you at the maintaining stage now? I can't keep up with all that on everybody!

Lucy and Tru Hope you girls have a great weekend. Try and get some relaxing time in your hectic schedules ok?!

Janet  Thinking about you and hoping you are healing well and comfortable!

Sue When does it ever cool off in AZ? It has been in the low 40's in the a.m. here and i finally broke down and turned on my heat. (causes my asthma to flair a bit at first). It's the 70's in the afternoon! I could actually enjoy this if I didn't know it will only start to get colder VERY soon!

Betsy Hope your son is doing well with the wisdom teeth ordeal! Give your girls a big hug from your friends here!! Not that you can't also give your son a hug from us too!!Wink

Have a great weekend! The cooler it gets here the more I am wanting to make a big pot of chili!!!!! I think that would be fairly easy calorie wise to do!! I HOPE!

Hi everyone!  I've been really pmsing so I had a bad couple days but this morning I weighed the same as I did on Wednesday so I'm really happy!  My son's doing well but still taking vicodin.  It makes him severely grumpy!  The warts on my daughter's fingers have to be removed if possible because she chews on them and I'm afraid that they'll get infected.  Pretty disgusting thought.  :P  Everyone else is good here.  We're supposed to have a yard sale tomorrow but it may rain so I'm not sure.

Janet-good to hear from you.  Glad you're doing well.  Praying for good news.

aly-125-my goal wieght.  Sigh.  Have fun in TX, the weight will come back off, but having fun with your family is more important!

axe-hoping your sewing gets done without any trouble and that you start feeling better, too.

momo-glad you're feeling better and that you could walk again.  Maybe you should just walk all day and then your husband would have to take care of himself!  Just kidding, I know that won't happen!

connie-I think we all have a number in our mind that's too small but we have to be realistic in the end about what our body can handle.  I'm hoping the goal I chose is maintainable but not sure yet.  We'll see.  Chili sounds good, it's gotten a little cooler here, too.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Betsy

Hello!  I was busy today!  Did laundry, walked and burned 560 calories, ran some errands, and then watched What Not To Wear shows with my daughter. She says they need to come and seem me!  But I told her I don't have any clothes to throw away because I've already done that! lol I just need the $5000 to get a new wardrobe later! hehehe

My hubby is feeling a little better, thank goodness! :)  Tomorrow should be even better for him.

I weighed in at 170.2 today!  .4 more and I'll be in the 160's!!!!!  I can't wait!!!  I'll be weighing everyday to see when I get there! lol

Well girls I weighed this a.m and am down to 130.2! How? you might ask? Well that wonderful Paxil I think has given me stomach "problems" and apparently (as you all probably figured already) I am FULL OF IT!!!! Well at least a couple or 3 lbs worth! Oh my what a starter topic for the day! Sorry!Embarassed

Any of you with home remedies for diarreah?Cry I can't even leave the house! Who was it that said staying in your pajamas all day sounded good? Ha Ha!Embarassed

Now that I have brightened everyones weekend.......I'll go back to my THRONE for now!!!!!

Have a great Saturday!

Hi all Smile

Today I am very very tired. Friday we built up a big party tent in the back garden, with floor an' all. Gas heater too. Lot of work and it got dark before we were finished - nice when you haven't done it beforeTongue out Yesterday at 4 pm the first women came for tea, and from around 5 our kitchen and surroundings were one big cooking circus with a very loud sound levelYell We ate in the tent, a 5 course meal. And laughed. And knitted, almost everyone knitted a piece for my blanket, only the 20 x 20 cm that I aimed for did not quite turn out the way I expected - lots of interesting patterns - and sizesInnocent So now I have a winter project to put them all together...

Today we packed the tent and the rest of the stuff back in the car - hard work. But it was worth it, it was a great day. What better way to turn a corner than to do it laughing and chattingLaughing

Have a nice day, talk to you all soon. Truus

Happy Sunday everyone.

Oh, Connie - what a way to lose weight - so sorry you are feeling bad. When my kids were little, I always heard of the BRAT diet for, uh, you know, too many bathroom trips. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Tea or Toast = BRAT. No great earth-shaking new info, but it used to work for them.

Truus - your party sounds like a dream! I know the tent must've been an awful lot of hard work - but worth it, don't you think? Even the memory you'll have up putting up and taking it down will bring you laughter in years to come. Now, did I miss something? Did you tell us what number birthday this was? No matter the number - happy, happy birthday to you.

Momo- so glad you are doing well - walking and losing! You'll be in that new wardrobe in no time. For me, I've lost enough to get rid of most of my closet, too; the pants and skirts are all gone, but some of the tops are still wearable - baggy, but ok. I've only shopped on super-clearance sales (like Kohl's at 80% off) and at the nearby thrift/used stores. Until I'm down another 20 pounds - I just don't want to throw too much money away on clothes. Funny, I used to have a closet full of stuff, now I have very few items, and I like it much better that way. My only "problem" - my mom likes to shop for me. She buys shirts on sale for like $2.00 each - guess what? they are usually so ugly. Big surprise they were still on the rack, you know what I mean?

axe - hope you are doing okay. It is so hard when people are tearing up the house. I always feel unsettled. I understand how you feel.

HI to everyone else - you know I'd love to write to each of you -but just how long of a novel do you want to read???? I've got Sunday School to teach in an hour and too much to get done once I'm home; so I'd better get moving. Bye, Sue.

Thank you Sue - and about how old - ah - well - actually I only just reached the number that gives me the right to be on this forumInnocent Thanks for putting up with me till now, having been a little wet behind the ears - but watch it: now I'm also 45-50Yell

Happy wekend everyone!  Mine started out with a trip to the emergency room with oldest son.  He had a reaction to vicodin or advil or something, have to have tests to determine exactly what.  It rained most of Saturday and today.  Yesterday was our neighborhood yard sale so we got pretty wet but made a few dollars.  Last night and tonight we went (and are going!) to eat dinner with friends.  Needless to say I'm NOT looking forward to the weigh in on Wed!!!!!

momo-glad your hubby's better.  Great job walking and I know you'll get to the 160's soon!

connie-hope you're feeling better.  I'd say BRAT diet, too.  Staying in pajamas without so many trips to the throne sounds good!

tru-it sounds like a wonderful party, wish we could have all come!  An official welcome to the age group!

Gotta go get ready to head out for dinner.  Talk to everyone soon!

Betsy

Tru....TELL US DETAILS ABOUT THE BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!!! HA HA!Sealed Glad you had a Happy Day my friend! All I hear from my younger friends is age is only a number! RIGHT and I think my number is larger than theirs so I am soooooo much wiser these days (and now Tru you are just a bit wiser than me)Surprised

Hi everyone I think its not the paxil but the anti-inflammatories that are causing my "problem"! (at 129 this a.m.) I took myself off of them Saturday night and did not take any yesterday and it is getting quite a bit better. I have continued the paxil so....we'll see!

Betsy Did you enjoy your dinner out? Were you a good girl? Hope that your son is feeling better! That sounded scarey!!

Lucy....oh she's on vacation isn't she? Hope having a blast somewhere!

Sue I did the B and the T part of the brat! Thanks for the tip!

Momo I read an article somewhere this weekend that reminded me of you. It was about exercising when you have a cold or flu like problem....I always feel so lousy I don't get up hardly but according to that article you were doing the right thing by walking and taking it easy by the way you felt. That light to moderate exercise could help your immune system and therefore reduce the length of your cold! I am crowning you QUEEN WALKER of the group! Good job Queen and to have continued even through the snuffy nose and cough!!!!!WOW!

SKN...WHERE ARE YOU? JEN? I REALLY WISH THESE GIRLS WOULD COME BACK!!

Aly! Just wanted to say HELLO!

Janet Hope you are improving greatly with every passing day! Hugs to you as always!

Axe I guess you are busy sewing so we'll wait to hear how things are going for you!!!

Ok Monday here I come! Hopefully I can get out and get a few things done....BRAT don't fail me now!!!CryWink

Connie

Connie-no, I wasn't good this weekend!  We ate out at our friends on both saturday night and Sunday nights and I ate way too much!  My weight was up 3 pounds this morning!  Cry  Part of that must be ttom, right?  Oh, well, back to normal today.  Youngest daughter's birthday is Wednesday so this may not be a good week, either.  Everything will eventually get back to normal someday!  Gotta go, older daughter is doing school work.  I'll try to catch up a little tomorrow!

Betsy

Hi Betsy! I just added you to my friends list I thought you were already there (sorry) I was looking at your gallery! Your kids are all adorable! I have 3 big brothers and theres nothing like 'em (that can be good and bad) LOL! So it looks like the girls have a good one!

Connie

P.S. Oh Tru by the way I meant you were wiser than me because of your great advise on the herbs NOT THE AGE!!!!!!Kiss

But Connie - are you sure? You definately look not a day older than 39, and as you know I just turned 45Innocent

See you all tomorrow Smile

OHHHH TO BE 45 AGAIN!!! lol!!! IT'S A GOOD THING YOU ARE NOT PINOCCHIO CAUSE YOUR NOSE WOULD BE GROWIN' TRU!!!!Laughing BUT I LOVED THE COMPLIMENT ANYWAYS!!!!

CONNIE

Hello. I'm new to Calorie Count.

I'm 49 years old with osteoarthritis in both hips. I never worried about significant weight gain because I used to walk everywhere but as my mobility decreased over the years my weight went up.

It was hard for me to face it for quite some time but since the middle of this summer (July 2008) I have been trying to diet and exercise. I had been afraid to even weigh myself for over 3 years before that.

I have lost 20 lbs. so far and I like reading others' stories about how they're losing weight so I've signed up here. I still have a ways to go, and then I have to maintain it, so I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from the collected wisdom of CC members.

Hi Girls,

Leave on vacation tomorrow and very busy.  My stepdaughter left today and we were busy all weekend taking her places and of course eating!  I updated my journal about all of it.  If you don't hear from me this week assume I'm having lots of fun.  Cool

Connie you're post always keep me laughing and brighten my day.

Tru I'm glad the party was a success and HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY you young whipper snapper.

Betsy I hope they have you sons meds straightened out.  I joined you with the eating this past weekend.

Welcome Lordfloor.  Interesting name.

 Love to all, Lucy

Hello to all!

Texas was fun, fun, fun! We ate, we shopped, we ate, we went to the aquarium, we ate, we shopped, we ate, we toured campus, we ate, we shopped, we watched the debate, we ate, we drove around and looked at HUGE houses, we ate, we ate, we ate! I was happy that my 81 yo mother held up pretty good!Laughing

The only glitch was that my hubby locked the keys, and my SUITCASE in the car just as I was headed outYell. So a midnight trip to Walmart when we got there and I spent the weekend in the same khaki skort I traveled in with a different Walmart tee-shirt every day!Undecided

Weight is up about a pound and a half, not too bad, and well worth all the enjoyment!

Connie, guess we always knew you were full of it!  but I do hope you have recovered! and yes, 125 is my goal, so I am just trying to hold steady.

Good for you Momo, the 160s are coming!

Betsy, those meals out can hurt, but I bet you are being smart about it. Your boy is ok now I hope?

Truus, How fun! i am sending my imaginary 20 by 20 cm square, it is black with a fresh green fern unfurling its frond.

Sue, I like the minimalist approach to clothes while you are "in transit" weight-wise. A few things to get by, and you won't feel guilty for buying things that you are planning on growing out of quickly!  But isn't it fun to think how you will be able to change up you look when you get to goal?

Axe, you sound busy! I am not much of a seamstress, I get forced to deal with a mending, or putting a patch on a Civil Air Patrol uniform from time to time, but my work is nothing to write home about...I always wished I could put together something dashing, but alas....

Janet, still thinking about you!

Alylou

Edit: hello lordfloor, I agree with Lucy, interesting name. Yours and Lucy's post came up while I was dawdling over mine. Welome to our little happy bunch. we range from at goal, to "in-progress". post 570 give deatails as to who we are.

Lucy Have a great trip!

Tru- since Aly sent you a square you know that I have to too! Mine is.....drum roll please.......the cutest CAT and even has realistic whickers sticking out with a heart shaped velvet-like black nose!

I KNOW NOBODY HERE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE SEWN A CAT RIGHT?????????????????

WELCOME to lordfloor!!!!! You will enjoy this group. We are a very personal bunch that have truly grown into good friends. We give comfort when needed as well as sarcasm OFTEN!!!!!! Now you must give us the scoop on the name please!!

Lucy Have I missed where it is that you are going for vacation or is it shhhhh......a secret?????

Ok girls gotta go will continue to pester you all tomorrow!

Connie

Everyone seems to be doing well and very chatty! lol

Remember a month ago today my Pap passed away (my mom's dad)?  Well, today my mom was told she has breast cancer. :(  I'm not taking it well, and neither are my parents. My brother (who is 9 yrs younger than I) is very positive about this. He tends to think the best will happen, and I think the worst and if it turns out good I'm very happy. I'll be spending the day with my dad tomorrow while my mom goes to work to talk to her boss and does her paperwork for getting time off. My mom is the Director of Nursing at a nursing home. So she's the boss over the nurses, and the patients! lol By the way, she just turned 62 in August.  She has 3 lumps, 2 are not cancerous and the biggest (2.6 cm) is. She was having pain and that's what allerted her. There is NO history of breast cancer in her family at all!!!!

I've heard it over and over how many women are diagnosed with breast cancer and there's no history of it in the family. I'm so scared for her and my dad. My dad is just torn up about this. He just loves my mom so much.

I'm sorry for being a "downer", but you all are my friends and you are a group where everyone is old enough to understand how terrifying this is.

Thanks for listening to me. Please say prayers for my parents, please? Thanks.

Be back tomorrow evening. Good night.
