Hi Girls!

Well I have definitely had a very long weekend. I am exhusted. I didn't sleep any until about 3 this a.m. My little man has bounced back a little and I am feeling very hopeful. It's all a very long story so I will just keep you updated as the days pass. He ate very well this a.m. (no surprise huh HE REALLY IS MY SON!) He was "chatting" away at breakfast. He didn't lift his head or hardly move except for my giving him water etc until this a.m. So I am hopeful for now that I may have a little more time with this special little guy! Thank you all for your kind words. Keep saying those prayers please. They are helping I'm certain!

Janet oh that made me so mad that you are having to wait longer and worry. Hon it is only waiting on good news just remember that!

Ladies I will catch up with you all later on for now I really need some rest. Again I thank you all for caring and listening when I ramble on and especially when it has NOTHING to do with weight loss!! You are all very kind and special women.

Connie xoxoKiss

Connie, hope your little guy is ok!  Thats so sad. I had to give up my pug/chiuahuah (sp?) mix dog when I couldn't walk her anymore when I was really in bad shape and I cried for weeks. I just can't imagine what you are going through.  I'm soooo sorry. :(  I know I don't mind talking about things other than weight and especailly when its something like this.

Hi everyone!  Sorry to be missing again all weekend.  We had a great time for our baby's birthday, lots of friends and food!  Of course my weight is up again today but birthdays only come once a year!  Well, my husband's and mine are also this months so this may not be a good month for my weight. :P

Connie-so sorry about your Neiko.  Glad to hear he's feeling better.  We have had two male cats with urinary problems, there is a special food that is good for them and helps.  Several companies make it and it's labeled for urinary problems.  If he's up to eating maybe you can try that.  Our first male cat had these problems and we didn't know what to do but with the one we have now the special food has made him ok, we just can't let him eat regular cat food.

Janet-praying that you will get the test results quickly!  That is really horrible to let you think you would have the results and then not get them!

Momo-sounds like a great day shopping!  It's fun to be able to buy new smaller clothes!

Hi to everyone else, I've gotta go get busy now!

Betsy

I'm backkkkkk!

Connie I hope he's doing better.  I lost 2 dogs I had for many years and it's hard.  I still have to pick my little dog up today from the vets where she spent my vacation.  I know she'll be happy to see us.

Janet I hope you hear something soon.  The waiting is terrible.

I started out my vacation with a bang at the casino.  I had never entered a tournament (like the ones on tv) and that's all they had going on so I entered.  It cost $40 so that was probably less than I would have lost at slots or regular poker.  I WON THE TOURNAMENT and beat all the men.  $1025.  That was a great start.  Branson, Mo was fun, very clean, and the people were great but once was probably all I'd want to go there.  The ride was soooo long.  We drove a total of 1400 miles and visited Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and of course back home to Alabama.  I was actually pretty glad to see my house again at the end.  My favorite things in Branson was The Landing, Silver Dollar City, and The Dixie Stampede in case anyone visits there.  My least favorite thing was the very long ride though all the cotton fields in Louisiana and Arkansas along a mostly 2 lane road.  I kept singing Dixie in my head, the line about "in the land of cotton".  We have cotton here but I've never ridden though soo many miles of it.  I was glad when we made it to the rolling hills of northern Arkansas and Missouri.  We came back though Memphis and though Mississippi and saw a lot of rice fields in Arkansas also along that route.  I really didn't know the US produced so much rice.  I actually expanded my mind along with my waistline.  I lost total control of my eating.  We had a free huge breakfast buffet every morning along with lots of other buffets that pretty much just had fried foods.  A lot of fried chicken and fried fish and lets not forget the huge amount of desserts at the buffets.  I'm planning to wait until next week to weigh in and kick it into gear this week so I won't freak out.  I'm feeling pretty tired and sluggish today.

LUCY ~ sounds like you had alot of fun!  I can't say I've gone on vacation and MADE money! LOL

Connie ~  How's your Neiko doing?

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!  ;D

In a rush, but wanted everyone to know I am thinking of them! Connie and Janet...hoping for good news on both fronts! Lucy, sounds like a "profitable" experience! Hang in there everyone else!

Alylou

Lucy-sounds like a great vacation!  I've never made money on vacation, either, but it sounds wonderful!

Janet-any news yet?

Connie-hoping Neiko's doing better.

My weight was down a little today so that was good.  Trying to eat right again!  I'd like to start exercising again but now I have a cough that is pretty bad, it really hurts to cough, so I've been holding off on that.  It seems to be going around here, not really too sick but a lingering cough.  Tongue out

Hope everyone's doing well!  Talk again soon.

Betsy

hi ya'all!  :D

I got my Jillian Michael's dvd today and did the 1st 20 minute workout and I have to say I broke a sweat!  I had to modify a couple things so it would work for me though. Like the jumping jacks and crunches. Can't do those with my back!

I'm excited to be doing something different. I'm still going to walk until it snows. Then I'll get some more dvd's and I'm also going to start lifting weights. Can't go heavy, but I'll do what I can. Hubby and my son are going to lift too! This should be interesting! hahaha But I think this is what I need to get the last 10-15 lbs off.

I've lost the couple pounds I gained, so I'm at 170 even.....AGAIN!

Where is everyone????

Connie, I hope Neiko is feeling ok.

Betsy, hope your cough doesn't become something worse. Get out the cough drops!

Hi all. Tammy - how's your mum? Good luck with the lifting and stuff :) And Janet - they actually make you wait, that's terrible! Are you coping? I think a lot about you you two guys, take care!Kiss

Connie, hopefully you and your little man are feeling better now. Betsy don't wait too long before you let a doc check your cough now!!! Aly when are you not in a rush? Don't overdo it eh (I have a feeling I've said this to you before, if so then I'm sorry, but apparently you didn't listen too well the first time then Wink Lucy how did you do that? Must've felt great to win like that. Hopefully you're recovering... Sue, how're you doing by now? Sometimes the sum of little things can upset more than a little. You take care too.

I haven't been here a while (again) - can't seem to get back on my feet after the tooth/jaw operation. Anyone here have any experience with diabetes 2? I am tired all the time, and have difficulty clearing my brains (and YES that DOES make a difference in case anybody wondered about that Tongue out). My skin is extremely dry as in itching, I get a strange un-resty feeling in my legs evenings, my sight gets really bad when I'm tired (and that's a lot) - and more. Controlling my eating is complicated at the moment, I can tell you that. I've always been very healthy and there's no history of diabetes in the family, no high blood pressure or anything like that either. On the other hand - it would explain why I feel like a wet towel most of the time. I never thought about diabetes until just this morning by coincidence, reading up on something else and coming across the symptoms. And I went - oh no! And called the doc for an appointment. Friday morning they'll check my blood and then I'll know. A strong motivator for losing weight eh ladies.....

About what's "allowed" here on this weight loss forum - considering that for so many of us, our weight and our eating habits have to do with what's going on in the rest of our lives, I believe that this is the forum where ready-made rules don't apply. Here's room for it all. And that's exactly what makes this such a great forumLaughing That - and the people who are attracted to a place like this to talk - you ladies Kiss

I'll keep you posted on what the doc says. Truus.

Hi Girls. First I want to thank you all for caring about my little Neiko man. He is still doing better. I on the other hand am continually going UP UP UP the scales. I guess as always it is stress eating cause I was at 135 this a.m. Some may be water but not much I don't believe!Yell

Lucy- EXCELLANT on the making money while vacationing and for showing all the men HOW it's done!!!!Surprised< that would have been all they're expressions i'm sure!

Tru-Do let us know what the doc says! The symptoms do sound alarming but at the same time it also sounds alot like the way most of us are feeling so could it be back to that dreaded "our age" thing? Let us know!

Momo will we ever be able to keep off the lbs we lose??? LOL I am beginning to wonder. Everytime I get emotional I get this I just don't care feeling and eat whatever I want lately and then beat myself up when I go get on those nasty little scales. I stepped on mine extremely hard this a.m. a second time just hoping they would FEEL MY PAIN!!! LOLUndecided You are seriously doing very well with the exercising and all! You get the gold stars again!!

Betsy-you need to see about that cough! Do you smoke? allergies? It may just be something going around but don't let it go too long without checking it out! There has been a stomach type virus here. FUN times believe me!

Aly you remind me of the energizer bunny....you just keep going and going and going!LOL!Laughing

Janet-when are you supposed to hear again from your doctor? SOON I hope!

Has anyone heard from Jen or Skn lately? I hope they are doing well and will come back to us soon.

Where is Ms Bermuda these days? Suz????? Gosh we've had quite a few disappearances haven't we?Cry

Everyone have a great day. It's raining here finally and is supposed to the next 3 days!!!! Maybe we will finally get outta this drought! Bye for now!

Connie

Hi everyone!  I was 139.8 today, better than last Wednesday but worse than last Thursday!  I've decided to only count the Wednesday weigh ins against each other!  Wink

No smoking or anything like that, could be allergies, but others here have the same thing.  Now my oldest son and daughter both are coughing, too.  I have some cough syrup but it tastes terrible!!!!!!  Oldest daughter and I took it this morning and both of us could hardly get it down.  I'll have to stop and get some cough drops this morning.  I've cancelled school for my daughter on Wednesdays (benefit of homeschooling!) so we can get other things done that I haven't had time for.  Today we're off to the Social Security office to apply for younger daughter's SSI number.  I think we'll have to go out for lunch after that one since it's probably going to be a long morning!

Connie-glad your little Neiko is doing better!

Tru-hoping for good news at the doctor's.  Hoping it's something less complicated.  My mom did have diabetes but after losing a lot of weight she was able to come off the medication and is fine without it now.

momo-keep up the good work!  I'm always impressed with your exercising!

I've gotta go, the natives are getting restless so we're getting ready and going to SSI.  Wish us luck!

Betsy

It's Weigh In Wednesday and I bit the bullet and got on the scale.  My weight is only up a half of pound from my last weigh in but up 3 overall which amazes me considering how I ate on vacation.  I'm still feeling sluggish from all the food and deserts I ate.  I didn't even enjoy all the eating so I'm still trying to figure out why I did it.  No buffets for me until I get in better control.

Tru -please have them check your thyroid too.  I have that problem and have extremely dry and itchy skin and it will make you very tired.  Mine stated after surgery at 43.

Betsy - I coughed one time for 3 months.  I called it the coughing disease.  I think a Z Pack and Pancof cured it.  Pancof has narcotics so you can really only take it at night but it works.

Connie - the men did have that look on there face.  LOL  I'm glad your little buddy is better.

Aly - hope you get some rest soon in your busy life.

Momo - you are doing so great.  I'm very proud of you.  I love my Total Gym and I can do it with my back problems.  I missed it so much while I was gone last week.

I'm going for a massage tonight.  Laughing

Oh... I'm also walking in a breast cancer 5 mile walk on October 24th to raise money for the cure.  One of my friends has formed a team.  I'm so glad they are finally having one here.

Janet have you heard anything?

Hugs to all!

Hi everyone!  Just a quick post for now.

Weigh in Wednesday! GRRRR  It's here already??? The last time I really weighed in I was 170.4. Today I weigh in at 174.4!  Oh well....I'll do better this week. :) I was so close to getting below 170 and I ate too much!

Tomorrow is my official "monthly" weigh in. Last month, on the 9th, I weighed 176 so we'll see what the scale says tomorrow. Talk about slow weight loss!

Be back later!

Wow we are a feast or famine bunch! (food/eating analogy seemed appropriate!) For days, just a trickle of posts come in, then, WHOOSH, and a whole bunch pile up!

Weigh in Wednesday: 126.4

Sue, ...You ok?

Janet, news?

Connie, glad your boy is better, now is the time to come to grips with that emotional eating! I have been guilty too lately, so lets make each other responsible for our emo eating! how about that??

Tru, I hope that your doctor has a less scary answer to your symptoms. A co-worker has type 2, and has been working to loose weight in hopes of ridding herself of it, so I hope that is not your issue.

Momo, you put me to shame with all your exercising! I wish I could get motivated, but where would I find the time???

Betsy, I hope your trip wasn't the usual trip to a government office: long lines, crabby workers, miles of red tape! May all of your tribes coughs fade quickly! Hmmm, I like that no-school-Wednesday idea! wonder what my principal would say? Surprised

Lucy, glad it wasn't as bad as you thought it might be! have you spent your winnings on new, smaller, clothes?Wink

Well, gotta go beat my drum!      &nbs p;   *pink bunny exits state right*

Alylou

Hi everyone!

Lucy-I feel like that when I overeat now, too, but sometimes I still do it anyway.  Not sure exactly why when it makes me feel so terrible!  Hoping you get back on track soon!  Can you get Pancof at the drugstore?  I've never heard of it but it sounds like something that may help with sleeping since I've been up coughing a lot.  The breast cancer walk sounds like fun.  Massage sounds good, too!

momo-at least it's going in the right direction!  Slow loss is better than gaining at least!  Hope your numbers are better today, though.

aly-long lines-yes, crabby government workers-yes, lots of red tape-surprisingly no!  We only waited a little over an hour so that wasn't too bad and she should have her card in a week or two.  We do two days of school work a day on all the other days so one day off a week still means we finish 8 days a week of school work.  Not too hard to do in kindergarten, but pretty sure it won't work after this year!  I think maybe we'll take an extra long holiday at Christmas, too!

Gotta go get started on the day.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Betsy

Betsy-Pancof is only by prescription.  It has a narcotic in it that helps you sleep.  I was coughing all night the first time I used it and it did the trick.

Aly- you are doing so great on maintenance.  One day I'll join you.Laughing

Weighed in at 173.0, so a loss of 3 lbs in a month. Better than last month ( 0 loss)!  I've lost 3 inches in the last month too. So I guess it's ok. Not great and definitely not my best. :(  I'll try harder this month!

Maybe my new dvd will help me. I worked out to it last night and burned 532 calories in an hour. It didn't even seem like an hour bc you move the whole time. I really like it.

Lucy ~ hope your cough is better!

Aly ~ I can't imagine ever being 126 lbs again! I think that would be too low for me. That's why my goal is 155-160 lbs.

LOL  Betsy has the cough.  I was just telling her about a med.

oops! My bad! that's what happens when you are really tired! LOL

I took a nap, so I feel much better now! :)

Hi everyone

No I haven't heard anything and I probably won't for awhile because next week is our thanksgiving in Canada so all offices are closed Monday and then we're going to Regina, Saskatchewan for our son's graduation. He is going to be an RCMP (national police). We are very proud.

Then the following week my surgeon is on vacation. arghh!

So unless the test results arrive tomorrow (which I doubt), I will not be hearing anything for 2 more weeks. They are already 1 week late. Yes, Tru, I am coping pretty good. My biggest problem is insomnia. I wake up in the middle of the night and try to use my meditation skills to calm my mind but it doesn't always work.  Worry, you know...women's national sport! I saw on Oprah that women's worry center in the brain is bigger than men's. Anybody surprised????

On a bright note, I am feeling much better. My husband and I actually went for a walk in the rain tonight and I was able to walk for about 25 minutes at a really brisk pace with not too much effort. (Before surgery we were doing 1 hour). It felt really good.

I've been able to maintain my weight  to where it was before surgery...with much effort... so I am hoping to get to my goal weight eventually.

Tru, my dad and my brother are both diabetic type 2. You are right. Diet is so very important. We can visibly see when they don't eat well. Take care of yourself. I agree with lucy about the thyroid. Get that checked too.

What's this about what's "allowed" on this forum. Did I miss something? Did someone complain?

Wow, Connie, it's my turn to write a novel..

Talk to you all later.

Janet

How can I make walking fun?

You have to find a way to make exercise fun or else you won't do it. If you walk indoors on a treadmill, I recommend moving outdoors into the fresh air... Read more
