age 45-50 group. Anyone interested?
I have looked for twins and poked around other groups without finding a real support group.
I am 48, 5'5", SW 151, CW 134, GW 128
I am the school teaching mother of three in their upper teens, wife of my 3 lbs from goal hubby.
SO...
Anyone interested?
Janet I'm so frustrated for you!!!!! I hate waiting on test and my worry center must take up most of my brain. So no I'm not surprised in the least. I wish I could worry in the middle of the day though instead of in the middle of the night. I'm still praying for good news and thinking about you.
I want to say how much I enjoy all the ladies here. I breeze though the other forums from time to time and there is some weird stuff out there. Thanks ladies for being so supportive and wonderful!
Janet ~ that's awful to hve to wait like this! It's not fair to you at all. :(
Lucy ~ awwww you're so nice! You are also very supportive and always have a nice word to say. So thank YOU! :) I know what you mean about other forums. I'm in a couple weigh in groups and the 180's club. That's about it. But this one is my fav and I always look at this one first. :)
Tonight I went for a walk and used weights while I walked. THAT'S hard! I've never done that before. I really burned up the calories doing that in a short time. In 45 minutes I burned 360 calories. Not bad! lol
I'm trying to bump up my workouts a bit to try to lose more weight. I don't want to eat less. I like to eat too much! lol :D
well, talk to everyone tomorrow!
Oh but Janet - noone's complaining. Connie had some bad hours with her "little man" and asked if it was ok to talk about even though it had nothing to do with weight loss. And of course it is! I believe that's the whole point here - all grown up ladies who get, that everything in a life is interconnected :)
My blood sugar's ok, that's the good news. The bad news is that nobody has a clue why I'm feeling like this then. So Monday the big search will start, including checking the thyroid. No disrespect intended, but I almost hoped for the diabetes, then at least I'd know why and what to do...
Janet - in the Netherlands it would be a good sign that there seems to be no hurry with your results. As in - the results are known quite fast at the lab, the big issue is to get those results to the patient. They'll do that fast if something's really wrong. If not, they take their time. I hope it'll turn out like that for you. About the insomnia - when your meditation doesn't work, grab a book. Much better than lying in the dark, worrying.
Have a nice weekend all, talk to you next week or so. Truus
PS. Janet congrats for your son
And about the worrying center - why am I indeed not surprised; maybe we should stop practising so much in that area, then maybe that part of the brain will shrink???! ![]()
Just wanted to wish a HAPPY WEEKEND on everyone! Got alot to do today-- getting some things ready for a flea market.....can't leave my house again so my neighbor is gonna take my things for me! I am having the tummy troubles. My doc told me to cut the paxil in half and see if thats the problem. I know I know I'm just full of it!!!
Neiko is still holding his own toward the good!![]()
I will catch up later this weekend!
Connie![]()
Still weighing at 139.8. That's three days of the same weight for me when I usually go up and down so I think that's good. Now if I only start walking again I think it'd go down! Still coughing a lot but seems to get better.
Janet-praying that you can have peace, especially in the middle of the night! The waiting seems so unfair and difficult. I hope you can have a wonderful trip and enjoy your time with your son.
Tru-glad your blood sugar's ok and hope they can find out what's going on quickly!
Connie-hope your tummy troubles go away quickly. Glad Neiko's still doing well.
We have to start school soon, we actually skipped yesterday becaus older daughter was sick, too. She could only eat 1/2 a piece of bread all day! Good thing it's only kindergarten so it's not too difficult. Have a great weekend everyone!
Betsy
Hi ladies! Hope you all have a nice weekend. :)
It's going to be rather warm here. 80* on sunday and Monday! I can't believe this stupid weather. No wonder we all keep getting sick. Gotta turn on the heat at night and a/c during the day! Crazy! lol
There's a pumpkin festival here so I'll walk into town to see what they have this year. Good reason to walk!
I've been having dizzy spells today (well yesterday, now). Even when I was laying down, if I moved my head. When I got up I had to hold onto something to keep myself steady. I feel fine now. Dont know what the heck was going on!
I had to go to the store and when I was standing in line I broke out in a sweat! Hope that's over with now. Maybe I was just having a spell of low blood sugar.
Betsy ~ Hope your dd is feeling better!
Tru ~ Hope they can find out what's wrong.
Connie ~ Tummy troubles, again? Gosh, hope you feel well soon.
Hello all -
Don't want to just be a "repeater" - but Janet, we are all frustrated for you. Keep up the positive thoughts - I like what Tru said about no news (late news) = good news. And congratulations to your son - or to the RCMP for getting your son!
Hope everyone else, including children, and cat-children are feeling a little better today. I'm sorry to hear about the stomach problems, coughs, dizziness etc. Gosh - what a season our group is in right now. I am inspired by those of you who are making strides in weight loss and exercise - get it "strides" and "exercise" - oh ha, ha, what a pun! I'm sort of staying steady right now - but I am exercising a lot - and wondering if part of the slower weight loss is muscle gain. My hubby actually noticed I had biceps yesterday! Aly - you are the inspiration for all of us, though, maintaining so beautifully - WOW.
I haven't been on here too much lately - but I still LOVE IT when I get a chance to catch up with all of you. As someone said, this is the BEST forum on CC - forget about the rest. :)
I am taking a little vacation with my husband on Sunday - Wednesday. Since it just won't cool down in AZ (actually it was 96* today - but should be in the 70s and 80s over the weekend - Woohoo), we are heading up to Colorado for a little fall break. It's our anniversary trip. We've only gone on one other trip EVER without our kids - so this is a biggie for me. So, I'll report back next week and give you all the scoop. In the meantime, if you have a minute, use google to check out "soaring tree tops adventure" in Durango, Colorado. Yep, that'll be me on Monday doing a huge zipline course. I'm not really that adventurous - so you can bet they'll be tightening those safety harnesses on me!
And, I'm loving Lucy's and Tru's new pictures - you both look great. Bye for now, Sue.
A big HELLO to all you ladies - hope you have not completely forgotten who I am - and sorry have not been here for quite a while
I have had a very busy month of travelling and dealing with family "stuff" which I will try to summarise briefly! Started in NYC where we are having a new kitchen put into our apartment there...I was only there for the demolition days and that was enough!! From there it was off to London where my daughter finally had surgery on her shoulder. She was getting ready to start back at university in England again so our doctor here recommended she have the job done over there. So we spent some time in London, then once she was feeling recovered, we went to Ireland to stay with my parents and see the rest of the family. Day after we arrived there my dad was taken into hospital, angina attack, fluid on the lung. Thankfully he is fine now, but for all 6 days of our visit he was in hospital. I was just glad to be there with my mum, but of course they were doing nothing but feel bad that our "holiday" was ruined. As I kept pointing out, it wasnt intended to be a proper holiday, more r&r for my daughter!! From Ireland it was over to Exeter (in Devon, south west England) to take daughter back to uni. She is in 2nd year now, so doesnt get to stay in campus accommodation this year. She has moved into a student house with 4 other girls - fun! My husband came to join us in Exeter (was useful for putting her new bed together, ha ha). I was concerned about her being ready to be on her own due to having to keep her arm in a sling full time for 4 weeks, but she was managing very well...plus the other girls were there to help if needed. Soooo....husband and I left a couple of days early and went to Paris and Marseille for 4 days before flying back home to Bermuda. Phew....it was all exhausting at the time...and I am exhausted again just reliving it!!
I have had a quick glance through the posts of the past few weeks - and hope everyone is doing okay...especially those dealing with family and personal health issues - warm thoughts going out to you all (and special prayers for Janet).
Daughter has had a follow-up with her surgeon and is now today officially out of her sling and starting physical therapy on Monday. Hope the op has been successful so that those recurrent shoulder dislocations are a thing of the past.
The only remaining item to be finalised is a check-up on our kitchen...all installed apart from the countertop (which comes wednesday) and some wall tiling, so i will pop up to NY for a few days next week to see that finished and put the place back together again. Can't wait to see it, excited but nervous at the same time.
Last but not least - I have no idea what I weigh!!!!!! Travelling so much really throws me for a loop...and hubby and I both enjoy our food and wine...so as you can imagine I am afraid to step back on the scales. However....once I get back from NY next week... I intend to get back to healthy eating and start up some exercise. I think the (slightly) cooler weather is on its way here, and I am determined to get back into the good routine I had going on earlier in the year when I started here.
Oh my - I am so sorry this has been a ramble, but I am glad to be back in touch with you all!!
Bye for now,
Suze
P.S. Happy anniversary Sue - Colorado sounds wonderful!
Hi Ladies
Lucy, you're so funny. I hope your worry center is not taking over your whole brain. lol It feels that way sometime doesn't it? Thank you for your prayers. I agree with you that this group is made up of very caring people.
Momo - I never thought of walking with weights. I might try that when my scars are more healed. Does it help a lot? I'm all for something that will allow me to eat more...lol.
Truus - Ah, now I understand. It's great how we can talk about anything here. I hope you're right about the slow tests = good news. Believe me, I do take a book to help me relax at night when I can't sleep. I've read so many in the past 3 months that I can't remember how many. Most of them read late at night. I do have a lot of techniques to help me sleep and for the most part one of them will work. I have not had to take pills yet and I won't because there are so many other things to do. You know how you said you were almost hoping for diabetes because you'd know what to do. That is exactly the frusrtation I feel too. I just want information so I understand how you feel. Best of luck with that. If life were only like the show "House" - we could have a doctor that can diagnose you in a hour show! lol...might as well laugh about it I guess. Shrinking the worry center.....hmmm.... sounds like a plan. For all those of you who have read Eckhart Tolle's books on the power of now, there is a lot of wisdom in there. The trick is to put it into practice.
Connie - take care of that tummy.
Betsybell - thanks for your kind thoughts. I truly admire how you can teach at home like that. Does the state provide you with a very clear cut curriculum, if you don't mind my asking? I just don't know a lot about home schooling.
Thanks justamom for the comments on our son. They ARE lucky to have him . He has a good heart. It's so hard to believe how fast they grow up. I know that's a cliche but it's so true. Wow what an exciting vacation! Have fun!
Suzenf - I am out of breath just reading your post. Hope your daughter is better. What a lot of travellig you did! I thank you for the special prayers. It means a lot to me. You'll jump back on the eating well wagon. I'm glad you got to eat well and travel.
I went to see the new Richard Gere movie tonight. Did anyone see it? (????? to Rhodante). It was good... a bit sappy at times but I went with 2 girlfriends so sappy was ok. By the way, how many calories are there in movie popcorn??? haha Do I want to know? Ah but it was good at the time.
Toodleloo
Janet
Hi
Neikobear had another bad night and not doing well this a.m. I get hope and then it just gets taken away. I'm very sad and don't want to be a downer. Still going up the scales....now at 137. I really don't care right now. Love you girls for all your support and will be back in touch soon.
Connie
aww Connie, I know just how you feel - we lost our Pumpkin a few months back...he was 13 also....he was clipped by a car crossing over to our neighbours garden and passed very quickly - thankfully...
Prior to that we lost our little Molly dog, who was only 6 (still a pup!!). That was due to a sudden illness, and she lasted a few weeks. It's so hard when they are showing signs of improvement one day, then knocked off their feet again the next.
We were all devastated for a very long time...hope things are better for you soon, whatever the outcome.
Connie ~ I feel so bad for you and Neiko.
I'm at a loss for words right now.
Janet ~ I love Richard Gere movies! He's so handsome! That is definitely a chick flick though! I'd love to see it. I'll wait for it to come out in dvd. Movie theater popcorn is very high in calories, by the way. But it was good though. lol
I have a question. I belong to cafemom and in one of the weight loss groups I'm in someone posted that she lost a great deal of weight taking b-complex vitamins. Ever hear of that? She lost 12 pounds in the 1st week. then after that she lost 2 lbs a week. I was just curious if vitamins like that one can help.
Hi ladies,
Janet - You have such a great attitude and I know that will help you heal quickly.
Suz - glad to hear from you. Traveling makes it hard for sure. I just got back from a little vacation and I'm still having trouble getting back into the groove.
Connie- prayers to you hon. My little dog has had several serous illinesses and has pulled though. Now she has a tumor and I'm not sure how that will turn out. It's so hard being attached to a pet and knowing that their life spans aren't very long. Just take it one day at a time. Your cat is lucky to have such a caring mom and I have no doubt he's had a wonderful life with you.
Tammy - there is a lot of B vitamins in a supplement I take and it doesn't seem to help me any. B vitamins are very good for you but I wouldn't take more than the daily recommended amount. Do lots of research before you try something like that.
I hope everyone has had a good weekend and will have a good week ahead. My bedtime and the work week are looming.
Good Morning Girls
Well somehow the weight is down to 135 this a.m. but that means i am still up from what I have been......![]()
Neiko had an ok night and this a.m. is alert but not at his best. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Keep em coming ok? He and I both are still holding on best we can.![]()
It is going to be 80 degrees today...what happened to fall? It's usually in the 60's here in October!![]()
I will be back in touch when I can be in bettr spirits ok? I just hate to be a downer all the time lately! Hope you are all doing well!
Connie![]()
Hi everyone! I hope everyone's weekend was good!
momo-how was the pumpkin festival? Sounds like fun! dd1 is doing well, thanks. Wishing the B vitamins would work but doubtful of anything so easy!
justamom-good for you doing more exercise! I'm sure that not losing weight is muscle. Colorado sounds like a lot of fun. I've always wanted to do a zipline, even though I'm afraid of it at the same time! Have a great anniversary, enjoy the time alone, the kids will be fine!
suz-great to hear from you again! Glad that your daughter is doing well and glad your dad is on the mend, too. Sounds like you had a very busy few months.
janet-glad you're coping well. I love to read myself to sleep, too. The state doesn't give us curriculum but it tells us certain subjects we have to teach (we live in PA which has the strictest rules for homeschooling in the US). We can choose how we want to teach those subjects but then have to provide an evaluation of our school year to the school district. I choose a curriculum that I like and go from there, sometimes adding to it and sometimes doing what seems necessary. Every homeschool is a little different so it's hard to say anything that fits even most homeschoolers! Having that freedom is one of the things that makes me like to homeschool so much.
connie-keeping you and Nieko in my prayers. Don't worry about being in better spirits before you write! We all want to be here for you no matter what happens. I'm wondering what happened to fall, too, it's going to be almost 80 degrees here, too. I don't like winter but some cool weather would be good!
Ok, I weighed 139.8 almost every day last week and then starting on Sunday I wieghed 141.4! Maybe from eating out on Saturday night? It was Chinese food so there was a lot of sodium. Gotta get back on track today! I've still got a cough but it seems to be slightly better. I took my son to orchestra and walked (pushing a stroller and trying to get my older daughter to keep up!) around Philly all afternoon yesterday. I love doing that (well, except for trying to get dd to keep up!) so I'm hoping that will get me started in my walking again.
Have a great day everyone!
Betsy
Hi all!!! Today was just a beautiful day!!!! 80* and sunny! I had to take advantge of it. I spent the day mostly outside sitting on the porch reading and alking on the phone! Tomorrow is 80* too, so I'll ba outside again. They say rain on Wed and Thurs and back down in the 60's again. BOOOOO!!!
I have to say I'm gettting anxious about winter coming and not being able to walk. I want to join the gym again but just going out in the winter makes me nervous. Don't want to fall....could land me in a wheelchair forever. :(
I have to go and cut my sons hair. I'll be back later! :)
well ladies....I just talked to my mom and remember I said she had to have an MRI done? Well, she had it done and they called her to tell her that something else showed up and in BOTH breasts!!!! She goes to see the surgeon tomorrow and I guess they are leaving it to him to tell her what they found. They told her this on Friday and she's waited all these days wondering what the heck they found!!! Why do they do that???? Tell you something else is there and then won't tell you what!!!!
I'm really worried for her. She's not sleeping well either. I'll be sitting by the phone tomorrow afternoon til she calls me.
Please keep her in your thoughts.....
Hello all!
I am sorry I have been so AWOL, life is just running at 100 mph around here.
Connie, so full of love, we know you are giving your boy the best of loving care. Don't forget to take care of yourself too!
momo, truus, janet, thinking much about your, and your family's, health issues.
Sue, have fun! sounds like a blast! So no no fear of heights for you!?!![]()
Suz, good to have you back! WOW what whirlwind you have been through! glad both daughter and father are mending! How does the kitchen look? you must report!
Lucy, good advice on the vitamin b! I too check things like that out very carefully!
Gotta run (as usual) Stacks of writing to grade, and this weekend we go to middle daughter's Parents weekend, so I am trying to bake a few goodies to take along...
Gnite, Alylou
Hi Friends! Just had to share the sweetest thing I have seen in a long time with you and then MUST go rest awhile!
Shelby is my last "child" that I rescued 3 years ago on the 20th. He weighed hardly nothing and now is a whopping 20 plus pounder...anyway he has stayed by little neiko's side throughout all of his good and bad days. The others all love him but are I think afraid of hurting him or something anyway It is in the 40's this a.m. and so just a coolness in the house and Shelby has slept oh so snuggly beside Neiko all night. I got up and fed them breakfast and turned on my dryer warmed up a blanket got Neiko snuggled in and Neiko made this little noise and Shelby came and got in the blanket with him. It was like Neiko wanted to share his warm fuzzy with his brudder!!! It warmed me up I know that!!!!!
Just wanted to share the sweetness of my babies this morning!
Love you girls
