Hi Connie,

Glad you and Neiko are hanging in there.  Thanks for the comment on the picture.  It was taken in Silver Dollar City while on vacation.  The whole park was decorated like that.

Hi Friends!

So far so good on my side of the world. Hope that everyone else is having a good weekend! Weight is back down 2 more lbs to 133.

My goal weight I think Momo had asked started at 145 then when I reached that point I realized it wasn't my "happy" place so I changed it to 135 now what I am happiest with is maintaining anywhere from 130-135 and thats where I hope to stay until the world and healthwise it is proven that FAT IS WHERE ITS AT!!!! LOL! I started at around 171 last December (the 3rd to be precise) It has been quite a journey with ups and downs but I can say I DID IT FINALLY after many years of starting and stopping and trying every diet out there!!!

Girls do you realize we are getting close to 1000 posts! WOW! We really have had alot to say these past few months haven't we! I know one fact that has absolutely helped me get to goal has been chatting to you guys almost every day. It has defininely kept me on track!!

Talk to you all tomorrow!

ConnieInnocent

WOW WHERE IS EVERYBODY! I had to add on to yesterdays post!!! Well I'm down again this a.m. to 131. It's crazy going up and down so much in such a little time. Glad it comes back down though! I hope everyone is ok.........anybody?????? HELLLLLLLOOOOOOO??????

Woah....I am with you Connie - is there anybody out there?

Nothing exciting going on in my life at this particular moment....still in NY dealing with the kitchen contractors, but hope to have the job finished by Thursday this week - yippee!!  Then I can get back to Bermuda, and stop eating take-out junk!!!

Catch you all again soon!

Suz

I'm here!

Sorry it took an extra day to get a post up, been ZIPPING alongSmile! The weekend with our daughter was GRAND! She was so happy to see us and have us meet her friends, professors and then to (joy of joys!) eat out as many times as possible! The weather was perfect and we all filled our cups with hugs. *sigh*

Now the weight thing is another story! WOW, did I ever eat!Surprised and this am I weighed in the heaviest I have been since May! CryYellCry So I am officially back on the wagon and restricting until I shed this weekend's Cherries Jubilee, salmon pasta, pumpkin pancakes ect...Undecided

Glad you are doing SO WELL Connie! 131! wohoo!

Suz, I have a hard time feeling sorry for you...HAVING to eat out in NYC! I know, just as much junk there as anywhere, and there are so many yummy temptations!

Sue, your vacation sounds delightful! Reconnecting with our hubby's is so important! As we all start to empty our nests, our relationships with those guys take on magnified significance. We need to spend a little time remembering why we married them!Wink

Blessings to all!

Alylou Zippy (A-Z! Cool)

Good morning all -

Aly-zippy I think that says it all - I like the A-Z nickname for you. I have to say, the pumpkin pancakes sound so heavenly - worth the calories, I think. You'll drop the little you gained in no time. And sharing time with your daughter just sounds so "filling", too.

And to our Connie - wow your weight loss is going great. Connie, can I ask: How tall are you? I had my original long-term goal set for about 147 (you said your original one was 145 but then you went well below that) - I'm wondering how 145-147 will look on me. I am 5'8".

It is still so hot here - yeah, yeah, I know, what's new? But really 95* in October? Anyway we are still working on that patio I talked about waaaaaay back when. You know, the one you are all going to come out and enjoy when your weather is terrible and ours is gorgeous. We decided to try to stain the concrete ourselves. First time ever doing something like that. It's quite a process, not really too hard, just time consuming. So, I'm outside today putting the 3rd coat on. Then, in 24 hours, it has to be sealed. Then, it should be done. In the meantime, we have to take the dog out through the side garage door and keep him off the patio. Then, last night, our main garage door broke. So, $1400 later, we get a new one tomorrow. Ouch.

Okay, break time is over for me. Back to patio work. At least the work seems to be keeping the lbs down - I've been eating more calories, but no gain. And it's a good work-out on my legs - bending, stretching, rollering, etc., my hamstrings are feeling it.

When things slow down - I'll post a new photo or two of our fabulous trip for you all to see, if interested. Hi to EVERYONE! - Suz, Momo, Lucy, Betsy, Tru, Janet, and Neiko, too

Sue

Hi All!

Sue I seem to be shrinking with age I have been 5'6 until a few months ago was measured in between well a little over 5'5 1/2.....Hope I don't continue to shrink in that direction at least!! LOL

Oh and THANKS so much for including Neiko (he is snuggled up right here beside me)

We definitely want to see the pictures from your trip!!!! Ummmm...(loud powerful voice) YES I SPEAK FOR ALL in this group! LOL

Later ladies!

Alyzip You will return to your tiny little self in no time!!! You energizer bunny calorie burner you!!Wink

hi everyone!  I've been lurking here. Just really not into talking too much lately. Mom had her biopsy on friday and it wasn't a good day for her. I spent the day with mom and dad on Sunday and shes in so much pain. I feel just so bad for her.  Surgery is tomorrow. Don't know a time yet. I just hate how they call you to tell you when the day before. She should have the biopsy results today also. So I'm nervous about that.

In other news, I'm down to 167.2 today!!!!  I lost 3.4 lbs this week. Even after eating badly on Sunday. I ate cheesecake (just a small slice), pumpkin roll (2 slices of that) then dinner wasn't too bad. Just a samll slice of ham, a few potatoe wedges and some fresh green beans (YUM!). I managed to stay under 1500 calories. I don't know how I did that!!!  LOL

It amazes me how I can eat what I want, as long as I watch the portion size!

Don't know when I'll be back on......so until I get back everyone be good!  :)  Keep up the good work!!!

Momo GREAT JOB on the weight loss hon!!! Please let us know how your Mom is doing ok. I know that you will be busy caring for her and all but just send us a quick note when you can about her. You take care of yourself as well!

As always you and your family are in our prayers!Innocent

Connie

Ditto what Connie said!

Alylou A-Z

I can't sleep so here I am!

Got the results of mom's biopsy and the one spot is benign and the other two that are by the cancerous tumor are what they call "precancerous". Not cancer yet, but if left will be. So those two will be removed also. I don't know what's in store tomorrow with how much tissue the dr will need to take with 3 areas in one breast. When I spoke to her she was in good spirits. So that's good.  I'm just nervous.

I'm gonna have so much driving to do tomorrow afternoon!  I have to take my daughter to school and pick her up at 3. Thank goodness it's by the hospital. But then I'll have to take her to work, pick my son up so he can visit his g'ma, then back to the hospital then leave and pick up daughter from work!!! So much driving around!

I'll come back on tomorrow evening around 9ish to let ya'all know how it went. Send good thoughts my way for mom.  Thank you all for being such good friends.  :)

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU ANYTIME YOU NEED TO TALK! GOOD THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS COMING YOUR WAY!!!!Innocent

Hi everyone!  Sorry about being missing for a few days, it's been hectic here!  Mikayla had her orthopedic appt. on Monday.  She's going to Philly to be fitted for a brace today and should have it in about two weeks.  The doctor talked a lot about what he'll do if she gets worse but didn't mention about her ever getting better, not sure if that means it's not possible or what!  We're supposed to go see him and other specialists in December at the spina bifida clinic so we can talk about things like that there.  We had so hoped that they'd tell us how they would fix her foot/ankle but for now are glad that they can at least help with her walking.

Weigh in - 139.2.  Less than last Wednesday but more than last Thursday!  Still jumping around a lot but I think it's because I've been exercising so sporadically.  Trying to get back into that habit but I've been running around too much.

momo-praying for you and your mom today!  Great job on your weight!  I know what you mean about the driving, it's really not fun to spend the whole day in the car taking everyone from place to place.

connie-great job with your weight, too!  How is neiko doing?

sue-glad your patio is almost done!  It's getting chilly here so we'll all be over soon!  Smile  The older I get the more I hate cold weather!  I'd love to see the pictures of your trip, too!

aly-glad you had a grand weekend with your daughter!  Don't worry, the weight will come back off, it sounds like a good trade for the fun time you had!

suz-glad the kitchen is almost done.  Take out gets old after a while I'd imagine.

I've gotta go, Meleah needs her gymnastics warm up suit altered this morning (I got her an extra big one since it cost almost $200!!!!!!!!! SurprisedCry) then we're off to get Mikayla measured (or whatever they do!).  Have a great day!

Betsy

Hi all you Women from all over Smile

I'm back. In more than one sense - I'm back in the Netherlands after an exhausting visit to my mum's (well actually the travelling was exhausting, 15 hours each way), AND I believe I'm finally getting back on track as well: I have an appointment with my doc next Monday, BUT I read something that set off a lot of thinking, and now for a week I've been eating practically sugar-free (and I mean ANY kind of sugar) and eating 6-7 times a day. And guess what: feeling better. So what's that all about? Unstable blood sugar levels, meaning that after eating anything that provokes insulin production, my blood sugar will go sky high and soon after down through the floor and stay there till next time I eat. It's called hypoglycemia and if untreated will turn into bad eyesight, bad concentration, even changes in personality etcetc. If I eat anything with sugar in it, after half an hour I will go reaaaaally tired and preferably fall asleep. But: as long as I eat good food that doesn't influence my blood sugar much, I'm fine Laughing Well, not quite yet, but getting there. So if this keeps going the right way, and I'm sure it will, I'll start exorcising next week - yeaaahhh!

Can anybody explain the joke about Alys name to this Danish woman with English as her 3rd language, please?

Love to all, special hugs to Janet and Momo!

Truus.

PS. Saw something interesting on Danish tv the other day: a (young, female, beautiful...) neurology scientist has made an interesting discovery. We've all heard and been told so very often, that men's brains are bigger than women's. True, on average about 50 grams. But a lot bigger is the brain of a whale, which does not mean that whales are a lot smarter than humans. So how come? The point is, that intelligence, as it turns out, depends on the size of the brain in relation to the average weight of the animal - and men weigh by average about 20-25 kilo's more than women, but their brains weigh only 50 grams more than ours.... You don't need to be a scientist figure out what that means, rightCool (As if we hadn't always knownInnocent)

Hi Tru!

Aly is always in a hurry with her busy schedule so I jokingly called her the energizer bunny which was a commercial for batteries that lasted forever and the bunny supposedly had the batteries inside and that made him keep going and going and going without fail. Zippy is just a slang type  word that means about the same- doing everything very fast! Hope that helps clear it up! Now isn't Aly a ZIPPY? Ha Ha!!

Have a great day!

Connie

Hi everyone!

Tru-glad you're back from your trip!  I hope you keep feeling better and better.  Brain idea makes a lot of sense to me!!!

Connie-hope you feel better soon.  Glad to hear Neiko's still doing well.

I think we should have weigh in Thursday, too!  For some reason I always lose weight on Thursday.  No idea why!

Busy day today and tomorrow!  Talk to you all later.

Betsy

Hi all, and welcome back Tru...glad you are feeling stronger!

Smile I am smiling today because the contractors are just about finished with my kitchen - only downside is that I have spent all morning cleaning up and dusting out the new cabinets.  Boy oh boy is it a mess!  However, its good to see the end results!!  I will be able to get all my 'stuff' out of boxes and back into the cupboards later - can't wait to boil the kettle and make a cup of tea in the new surroundings, lol.  Workmen will have to come back in a few weeks to finish off a few small items - replace a couple of damaged drawer fronts and apply the crown molding etc. (which was ordered wrong size!!) but nothing that is functional to the kitchen, all cosmetic stuff.

Sooo... I am finally able to head home to Bermuda tomorrow - really looking forward to that!  I love the city, and it is great to have our place here....but home is definitely that little island in the sun!

Connie - i can sympathise with your cold situation...I have been feeling that scratchy throat and watery eyes deal for the past day or two - assumed it was just because of all the dust around the apartment.....but no....have finally accepted that I am getting the full blown symptoms of a head cold - ughhh...  Hope you feel better soon!!

Momo - I hope the news and prognosis is good for your mom...thinking about you (and Janet too if you are keeping up to date with our messages!)

Hope everyone else has a great day - just keep on keeping on!!

Regards,

Suz

Truus - I know about hypoglycemia; I've had it for years.  One of my coworkers realized what was happening to me whenever I ate a donut; I'd bounce around for half an hour (while the sugar level was high), then become really unpleasant to be around (when the sugar level bottomed out - remember, our brains can only use sugar for fuel - that's why diabetics who have taken too much insulin become confused and combative).

Now I try to have protein with each meal, which slows down the absorption of the sugar so that levels stay within a reasonable range - no spikes up or down.

Cantlose - I'm fighting some sort of bug myself.  The lymph glands in my neck always give me a heads-up when something's trying to attack my immune system; they swell and make swallowing uncomfortable.  I've spent the last 2 evenings (yes, I went to work) drinking soup, hot tea, and as much water as I can force down, along with several grams of vitamin C and something for muscle aches.  I've sweated out the fever under a pile of blankets, and I seem to be down to my usual runny nose (although I'm still going to take it easy for a bit longer).

Here's the update on mom:  THEY GOT ALL THE CANCER!!!!!!  SHE IS CANCER FREE!!!!!  She's home now and resting. She'll need radiation treatments, but no biggie!!!  She was up and walking yesterday by 6 pm and hungry by 10!!! LOL  I'm so freakin' happy!!!!  When she got awake in her room and asked what the dr said and my dad told her he got it all, she was soooo happy she cried.  We are all so relieved.

MY MOM IS A BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR!!!!!

All your thoughts and prayers were answered. Thank you all so much!

Tammy that's so great!!!!  My mom and aunt are breast cancer survivors too.  I'm doing my part Saturday and walking in the Breast Cancer Awareness walk here.  I hope to raise $200 on my own and my team is shooting for $500.

I've had a rough week.  I had to get a root canal and my entire jaw is still hurting but a little better.  Plus a quick trip to the chiropractor because everything was hurting.  I'm trying to get better for Saturday.  I'll try to catch up with everyone as soon as I can.

Hugs to my friends!!!
