I am the school teaching mother of three in their upper teens, wife of my 3 lbs from goal hubby.
SO...
Anyone interested?
Connie,
That's great that you are friends now. Too bad they can't act right when you're married to them. Believe me I know, been there, done that. I get along fine with my 1st husband too and even better with his wife.
My only saving grace for the holiday is that we'll be at my sisters so I can leave all leftovers there! What do you put in your squash casserole?
''GUURRLL" How many times you been married! LOL You know I'm just kidding. Well I took all my recipes to moms today but from memory its 2-3 cups squash (grated) shredded cheddar cheese cream of mushroom soup herb bread crumbs butter onion ahhhh I'm stretching my mind it seems like there is something else but.....now if ya really wanna know I'll write it down and give it to ya later...Do you make one? Every time I even think of making the green bean casserole I think of that commercial thats on every christmas where everybody brings a green bean casserole....I don't remember if its Pepto Bismol or what....probably is! LOL
LOL Been married twice and still working on the second one. ![]()
I'd love to have the recipe. I made one once with sausage and I didn't like that one so I never tried again. I love squash and usually just make it steamed with onion. You know us southern girls and our casseroles though. I did buy the lowfat cream of mushroom soup this year so maybe that will help some.
From reading the last many posts, there's no telling this a LOSER-forum
- jeeeez I feel like a dog with the tongue hanging out, smelling all kinds of goodies
Wait, where's my gum??????? ![]()
Lol Truus! I just aim to burn 1000 cal doing all that cooking!
Connie, so sad, but I am also so glad that your neice and family are so at peace with it all!
Ex- hubby...is his name Butch by any chance?
And I gained 2 lb just reading these posts! Food Porn!
Alylou
LOL Tru... unfortunately the love of food has put many of us here. Even though I'll be faced with a very fattening meal I actually usually do pretty well on those days by eating light because I know ahead of time exactly what I'll be faced with. Luckily baked turkey is lowcal and good for you so I start with that, add green veggies and then very small servings of the other things and only the ones I love. Then I'll pick my favorite dessert and have a little of that. Plus we do have a tradition of all the women going for a walk while the men hang out in front of the tv. So I plan to enjoy but not be too bad at the same time.
WOW!!! My eyes hurt from reading so much! lol
Connie ~ I'm glad you got to see your niece. I feel so bad for your family. And your poor mom.... :(
Well, had some stress here today...
We had a shooting out in front of our house. 1st time for that! I guess the girl next door has a drug dealer as a bf and 3 young kids came to teach him a lesson and shot the gun to scare him then beat him with it. Young kids! Don't they realize that a bullet can go anywhere! They think a gun makes them tough! Then it took the cops 15 minutes to get here!!! And they're just 5 minutes away. :( I was so mad! If they would've hurried, they would've had them bc they hung out in front for about 10 minutes!
And, I too think I've gained reading about all the yummy food that everyone is cooking. I wish I could make my rounds to everyone's house on Thursday.
Hubby said something today about going to his mom's on Thursday and have me cook on Friday! 2 days of eating!!! I thought that was going to be something to deal with on x-mas. Yikes!
Well, take it easy and have a nice evening.
Wow Tammy! that beat my 5 inches of snow for excitement! Yikes! Remember to duck!
Those might be neighbors you DON"T want to invite to Thanksgiving!
G'nite, Alylou
I'd much rather have the snow! All the neighbors are upset over this young girls bf bringing trouble around. Hope they get this under control!
Tammy - How scary!!!!!! I hope they take care of that problem immediately!
This is crazy! They came back and shot at my house and the house next door. I was down in the basement getting clothes out of the washer and my daughter started screaming. I came upstairs and she said they shot at our house and it sounded like they hit it. She was crying and my son said he heard it too in his room. I called 911 and went outdoors when the cops came and the neighbors on the other side of me came up and said they heard it too and the one was outdoors smoking when it happened. He said they started shooting at my house and he said it sounded like 2 shots hit something. They fired 5 times and the car was going at a high rate of speed so that's probably why the shots started at my house.
The people in the house they want left for the night. So they knew they were coming back!!!
Now I'm scared they might come back again. And my son was just out front talking on his cell phone!!! He could've been out there!!! He always goes out front to talk so he gets better reception than in the house. We live between 2 hills.
Anyways, I just needed to get this off my chest and tell my "friends". I called hubby at work and he calmed me down some, but I'm worried. My daughter went to her bf's house so its just me and my son here.
Hi ladies ,
I started counting again yesterday.
Thanks to you all being there.
Alylou - our Thanksgiving is much more subdued. But from the sounds of all your menus, wow, I need to go visit someone in the States! haha
Sun is shining ...and I see it!
Have a great day ladies. Tomorrow is my BIG day.
Janet
Wow Tammy! I'm not even sure what to do it that situation. I hope they catch them so you'll feel safe again.
Janet - prayers and best wishes.
Hello Everyone,
I am new here and in need of support as I get back into a healthy regimen.
Hello Lory! we are a supportive bunch here, post 570 tells about us a wee bit.
tell us about yourself and your challenges, as much as you want, and join the conversation!
Tammy, things settle down?
Janet ans Suz, thinking about you!
Alylou
Tammy - what a nightmare! I hope your neighborhood is quiet today. Get those police over there to do their job.
When I wrote last, I mentioned about my daughter not feeling well - you won't believe it but we landed in the ER yesterday for about 9 hours. She went from bad to worse quite quickly and our regular doc was worried about something serious - so he sent us to the ER. She's never even BEEN TO a hospital before (other than her birth,ha ha) so it was traumatic. Thankfully - all the terrible possibilities (brain abcess, meningitis) were ruled out by CT scan and then a "lumbar puncture" (what they usually call a spinal tap). Scary. Scary. Scary.
She's a little better today - headache has lessened, fever is there but more under control. She was low on fluids and potassium - got both of those by IV; I think that helped. So, now it's time to wait to see how she feels after awhile and then start again to try to find the cause of the headaches. They have no idea about the cause, but think the other symptoms are probably virus-caused and unrelated.
Enough Doctor-Speak for now. All of your Thanksgiving dinners sound so delicious. I would love to try some of those recipes! It definitely is 'food porn' as Aly, or someone, called it. My prayers are with Laura - and I definitely agree that being able to see heaven is what will make her passing infinitely better. Connie, I would be crying buckets, too, at such a comment - but it shows her faith is strong.
Blessings all- Sue
Sue - I hope your daughter improves quickly. It's always so scary for your child to be sick. How old is she? My friend's 13 year old has been suffering from migraines. I had them when I was 10. My head would hurt so bad and I'd always end up throwing up several times before it got better and then it still took a day or two. I think mine were stress related because I had changed schools for the first time. Keep us updated.
Sue, I'll put your girl on my list too! My that sounds like a long a stressful day for both of you! But with all the tests being normal, now you have even more to be thankful for!
Alylou
Things have calmed down. I was up til 3 last night and I took muscle relaxer to go to sleep. I just want them to stay away. We aren't use to this. My husband said they probably shot up in the air to scare them. But they weren't even home, so they scared everyone else! The police did make more trips around here last night. So that eased my mind some.
Sue, glad all the tests came back normal. I use to get migraines when I was younger. The Dr thought it was my diet. Something about too much sugar. I don't know. That's all I remember. Caffeine will sometimes get rid of a migraine.
It's snowing like crazy here today! The roads are alittle icy too. So I'm staying in and enjoying the view outside. It's so pretty with all the trees covered with snow.
Momof2 funnykids(is your na me Tammy?) - I am so sorry that you have to live through that fear. I hope that bf goes away so trouble will follow him and not be close to you.
Hi lory45 - Welcome to our group. We are a very supportive group.
Justamom - It's so difficult being in the hospital so long and then not even knowing what is wrong. I hope she feels better soon.
Tomorrow is supposed to be my 2nd surgery. I stayed at school today working like a dog to get my substitute's work ready. When I got home a few minutes ago, there was a message from my doctor's office that my surgery is rescheduled for Dec. 3. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't cancel my sub now and so I am on a presurgery vacation. The story of my life lately. My husband had also taken 2 days off to be with me. Maybe we could do something fun...like sleep in. lol
Talk to you later. Take care all.
Janet
