Doesn't sound quite right no, you weren't planning a swimming poole there??? Wink

Haven't been in a while, - went down with bronchitis and the beginning of a pneumonia before Christmas. Missed out on a lot during the party-days with high fever and stuff, but on the other hand: didn't eat much either. Now on penicillin and getting better, though still coughing a lot. Hasn't been my year health-wise, looking forward to starting over in the new year.

Have a nice day / evening wherever you are and however you're planning to finish off 2008 and starting 2009 Kiss

Hi Everyone!Laughing

Well its almost the NEW YEAR!!!! I finally got up my nerve and weighed this a.m. after eating so much Christmas goodies and all I'm at 138 so yes I gained but not what I really would have thought considering everything that has been happening in my life lately PLUS the holidays!!!!!Surprised

NOW anybody have new years resolutions set up for themselves yet? I do. I am quitting SMOKING so if you all hearYell a "grumpy" tone please remind me this will pass. Any tips from those of you who have quit would be appreciated! I also will probably gain weight.......I think I'm going to try suckers...i know that sounds strange but that will help me have something in my hand and going to my mouth like a cigerette, dont you think? Worth a try anyway.Tongue out

Welcome to the NEWBIES that I have missed. Looking forward to getting to know you and chatting.Smile

I hope everyone has a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I am having a few friends over. (Aly even though it is soooo cold out I think I'll make a batch of Pina Colada's wanna come over?) Everybody come on over!!!!!!!Cool

Have fun and be safe! I'm BAAAAACK and I feel more like myself again so I hope you all are ready for that! LOLWink

Hi all!!

Sue, a spot like that in my house now would mean one of the now three dogs had a bit of a problem! (yes three! 1 is mine and 1 for each daughter...)

Truus, so sorry your holidays were spent under the weather! But then again, maybe if Sue and I had been sick we would not have been able to hear the cookies call! Hope you rebound quickly!

Adarana, I too love that line! Late night snacks: 100 cal popcorn (couldn't live without it!) 60 cal pudding cups, cut up raw veggies.  You can do it!

Connie, I am so proud of you for giving up smoking! Gum, gum, gum! 4-5 different flavors! Exercise, take a powerwalk, get you lungs working and you won't want to smoke! You go Girl!!!!

Today the opening statement of this thread is now incorrect: I am now the mother of 2 in their late teens and 1 who is 20! My New Year's baby isn't a baby anymore...Cry

Headed to the cabin Laughing see you in a few days!

May your new year be filled with health and happiness!

Alylou

Happy New Years Eve all!

Tru - I hope the New Year brings renewed health for you.

Connie- that's a fantastic resolution.  Smoking is something I've never done so I have no advice other than take it one day at a time until it's a habit not to smoke.  Praying for strength for you.

I'm having trails and tribulations myself that I'll explain later.  Let's just say my New Years Eve will not be what I had planned.

It's weigh in day and I got on the scales and now I'm fessing up.  I've gained 7 lbs since my back has been hurting the last month and though the holidays.  The New Year will bring a New Me.

I hope the New Year brings many blessings and great happiness to all.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the advice.

Sue, I went out this morning and picked up some low fat yogurt. However, like you, I can hear cookies (shortbread) calling my name. I hope your plumbing problem turns out to be minor. Is it difficult to get a plumber there? Here you wait days and they're pricey.

Alylou, I never even thought of popcorn, I love raw veggies with tons of dip. Guess the dip is out, huh? Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking Connie. That is an awesome resolution. Are you quitting on your own or trying a cessation aid? Either way, you can do it.

I hope the new year brings you renewed health as well Truus. Sounds like you were down for the count over the holidays. You as well, lucylus. I hope the new year brings an end to your trials, tribulations, and back pain.

Here's to a happy and healthy New Year for all of us!

Adara

Hi everyone!

Happy New Year's to you all!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Today was weigh-in day... YES, I finally set foot on the new bathroom scale. I am 136 pounds, waist 27.5, hip 37.5. (I don't even want to know how much I weighed when my waist was 29... eek!)

Hubby is down some more with waist at 37.5 and weight 178!

I'm hoping to do better now that the holidays are past... away from the goodies AND I should be in town more, and having access to the gym where I work out. I've still been walking, but I'm sure I burn more calories on the elliptical machine and stationary bike, plus weight training.

re: late night munchies... hubby and I are loving air-popped popcorn, at 20 calories per cup. We add a little spray-on olive oil and (sprinkle-on) sea salt. We also like fruit or some of that Special K Red Berries cereal (110 per cup).

Loads of blessings!

Lisa Smile

Just popping by to wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year!  The holidays have been great, although the resultant weigh gain is not so great - I am up about 1.5 or 2lbs!!  Oh well *sighs*

I have 2 more parties to get through this weekend, then my daughter leaves to go back to school on the 8th, so thats the day that I have promised myself I will have a blitz emptying the fridge and cabinets of all things "bad"!!

I have definitely enjoyed the past 2 weeks of not counting calories and indulging in all my fave holiday foods and drinks (especially of the bubbly kind!!) but I have finally realised that it is not something I want to revert back to on a regular basis.  I guess counting cals seems to be a part of me now!

Good luck to those who have made resolutions (I never do!) especially Connie on kicking that cigarette habit!!

Hi Ladies!

Just popped in to say SO FAR SO GOOD on NO smoking!! EATING on the other hand is a bit outta controlYell I must get a grip on this soon! I still have a few "no no's" in my fridge so I figure I will get back on track after that! If not this will be my next Wednesday weigh in faceSurprised!

Connie

Thanks for the encouragement everybody!

Hi,

I just found this website today..  I am a lifetime member of WW and have gained all my weight I lost back...  I am doing the menopause thing and need to loose 21 pounds to get back to my goal...  I am 51 but would love to join your group...  I have an office job and need to learn to enjoy exercise...

Bev

Hi everyone!

Welcome Bev!

I got my MRI reports today on my knee and back.  My knee looks ok.  No tears, like the dr thought. WHEW!  Bad news on my back though.  So many new things wrong.  Real depressing....

It explains the increased pain and the new pains I've had.  Then the bad episode last month.  So when I go back to the dr next month we'll talk about some options, if any, that I have now.

It looks like there won't be any exercising in my near future. I just want to cry, but I know it won't do me any good and it won't change a thing.

Not such a great start to a new year. Cry

Keep up the good work Connie!!  And Tammy....so sorry to hear your back is giving you such a tough time.  Fingers crossed the docs can suggest some good treatment options this time.

Welcome Bev - I have never really tried any other weight loss plans...but can say that counting cals seems to work for me (whenever I dedicate myself to it!!)  And I also find that when I add in a quick walk every other day, my hips and legs feel stronger and (I think!) smaller!!!  Good luck....

Hi to everyone else!  Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Suz

Hello everyone,

Welcome Bev. I'm a newcomer too. I love being part of this group and I am certain you will as well. Everyone is helpful and supportive.

Well, the holidays are almost officially over for me. Back to work on Monday. I'm torn - part of me is looking forward to it and part of me wants to stay home longer and continue to visit with family and friends, and enjoy this leisurely lifestyle the holidays afford.

Tammy, I am so sorry that your back is troubling so much. I am crossing my fingers as well that the doctors can provide some treatment options that will give you relief from your back pain.

Lucy, how is your back? I hope it is better and Truus, I hope that you are feeling better as well .

I have never heard of olive oil on popcorn. Is it tasty Lisa? I have to be honest. It doesn't sound as good as butter but I'll have to give it a try. It will be so much healthier, dry popcorn is okay but.....

Way to go Connie! Keep it up.

Have a great week-end everyone!

Adara

Hi all haven't been online been feelin poor.  Went to the Dr and had allergy testing done and got some meds that I hope will get me back on track.

Truus hope you get well soon.

Connie good luck on the smoking thing.  I found that the gum helped me.  It has been 3 years now!

Lucy hope your back gets better

Welcome Bev

Hang in there momof2funykds

Happy New Year to all!

Jasmine ~ Hope you get to feeling better.  I know all too well about how allergies can make you feel.  I'm always taking allergy meds.  I have year round allergies to everything!  :(

Lucy ~ How are you?

Adara ~ I've tried olive oil on popcorn and I prefer butter! lol  There's just nothing like butter! lol  I'll be calling the pain mgt Dr to see if she wants to see me sooner becasue of the new things found on the MRI.  I'll probably get told the same thing.....nothing can be done yet.  I guess they're waiting for my discs to disappear and my spine to be bone on bone.  How painful that's going to be.

Suz~ Thanks for the kind words.  I'm gonna look into water therapy now.  Then maybe I can get some swimming in!  ;)  Waiting for bathing suits to get into the stores so I can try some on.  I haven't had suit in 19 years!  I think I should get one now! lol

Bev ~ I did WW when I first started losing weight. Then I stopped losing on it for some reason.  I did the point system on my own, and I liked counting points it's alot easier than calories.  But I've been counting calories for a year now and it works once you find that "magic" number to be able to lose.

Hang in there everyone!  The holiday's are over now so we can all get back on track again.....  But my Birthday is this month!!!  ;)

Talked to my mom today.  Remember she had breast cancer?  Well, they did a test to see the probablity of a recurrence & it came back 40%.  So now she has to have chemo.  Her 1st treatment is Friday and my daughter is shaving her head for her.  She's getting fitted for a wig tomorrow. I was really hoping she wouldn't have to go thru this, but she'll do whatever needs to be done to avoid a recurrence.

When it rains, it pours.....

Tammy sorry to hear that.  It took care of my mom's so hopefully she'll be fine.

Bev- I'm a lifetime member of WW having lost almost 100 lbs twice but it seems to always want to be coming back.

My back is still bothering me and now a new pain.  My daughter is getting a divorce after being married just a little over a year.   She's at my house now and we'll need lots of prayer to get though this.  It hurts me so badly to see her hurt.  She's still young and beautiful and I know she'll be fine but divorces are very ugly things.  Today I'm back at work and operating on little sleep.  As for a food plan, I just don't have one at the moment.

Prayers to Tammy, Lucy and others needing encouragement right now. I haven't sent a message in awhile - just overlooked the opportunity, I think. I'm still not back on track with my eating/dieting/"lifestyle", but after reading the struggles that some of you are in right now, it sure doesn't seem that important.

You are all in my thoughts - *hugging you ALL* -

Sue

Hi Friends,

Just checking in for a moment...or a ramble...you all know me!

So far so good on the smoking. I have gained up to 140 now so a bit depressed but not surprised on that. Going to get back on track and hope for better days...not smoking is not helping my nibbling habits.....anyway...

Lucy I don't have human children as you know but do know that your daughters pain is also your pain and I wish you all the best. Divorce is hard and sad and discouraging but she WILL get through this and find someone that is meant for her one day....(or have 4-5 CATS hmmm hmmmm) <sorry> It's so important that she has such a great Mom right now ya know?

Sue, I am so with you not being on track and all. You know we were all doing so much better when we were cutting up and talking daily and keeping track of what terrible fattening things were lurking at any given time over any of our shoulders.....We need to get back there....right?

Tammy, so sorry that your Mom is going to have to go through that but like Lucy said my Mom also went down this road and she is doing well (considering all the latest stress) doing very well and cancer free. I might add she has such thick hair she didn't end up even needing a wig!  Also Happy Birthday early? late/ WELL HAPPY is the key heart felt wording here ok??????!!!!!! You are as always in my prayers and I am hoping that your disc/back problems will ease.

Adara/Jasmine/Bev ....I will be back to my normal self very very soon...ummm harrassing ummm I mean encourageing all that you NEWBIES talk about!! So get ready ok?!

Suz, Tru Aly,Betsy,Janet,Axe Lisa,UMMMM HOUSE OF PAWS? dip?skn? 2009 New Year....where are you guys? Have I missed some posts?

EVERYBODY I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO A BRAND NEW YEAR,UPS AND DOWNS,ALL SHARED WITH MY CC BUDDIES.....AND THEN ON TO THE OPRAH SHOW!!!!!!

LUV YA,

CONNIE

HI ladies

I just read up on everybody. It's nice to "see" you all again.

My holidays were pretty good. We had a lot of snow, wind and cold but we did a lot of family visiting despite it all. Like some of you , my weight is up a bit but I'm determined to beat it. Started exercising again. I'm back at work...had been off since early December. That was a bit of a system shocker... I'm still awaiting my results from my 2nd surgery. I'll know if I'm done, if I'm doing radiation or if it's another surgery for me.

Tammy - sorry to hear about your mom. I understand though that you do whatever it takes. Best of luck.

Connie - it's nice to see you back and you sound so much better. My mom beat smoking after having that habit for over 30 years ..you can do it.

Adarana - late night eating was my big problem. Little by little I'm getting better. My advice is don't try to cut it all out at once. Try to eat a little less each night and eventually it wil get better. And of course, healthier snacks are always better. It's not easy but you can do it...one day at a time. popcorn and a few nuts are filling.

lucy - I'll say a prayer for your daughter. I have a friend in her late 40's going through a divorce now that is very nasty and it's so hard on everyone.

Well ladies...I don't do resolutions but I'm happy to have you all in my life because heaven knows we need all the friends we can get. I hope for the best for all of us....... Happy New Year!

Janet
