Age 43 ... 5'6" ... 165lbs ANYONE ELSE CLOSE?

Quote  |  Reply

I am brand-new at this counting calorie thing.

Just wondering if anyone else is close to my height and weight?

If so, any advice on seeing results quickly so I can get excited about it?

Thank you.

Hi. I'm new too - started 3 days ago and I am 5'5 and 162 AND 44 years old. I'd say our stats are pretty close.

I love this site but still trying to figure everything out. They have so many foods preprogrammed in to the food journal. I love the analysis that shows the % of protein, carbs, etc but haven't quite figured out what %'s I should be eating. Do you know??

Sue

Thank you, Mcderin and sjklov!  I appreciate your replies.  Laughing

I'll take your suggestion and check out the Weight Loss forums so I can meet more people.

I also do not know what % I shoujld be eating.  But I think I saw something to that effect when I got my report from yesterday.  It graded me A, B, C, etc....then it broke down the amounts of each...protein, carbs, etc.....so I imagine if you get a good grade, then you were right on with what percentage you should be eating.  Does that make sense?

Christine

Well, mcderin.....great advice!

I just returned and am immediately going back to the Weight Loss forum.

sjklov.....this may help you....I found lots of great info. in the post entitled, "Welcome to the Weightloss Forum! Read this for Info & Resources"

It's the third post down from the top and it's a 'sticky' so it should stay there.

Christine

       &nb sp;  DONT YOU AGREEInnocent

Every movement count.......................cals u know

Yes, Sandra...I was thinking...I am sitting here too long...good idea...butt squeezes and tummy squeezes.

Hey, sjklov!  I found the info. you were looking for!

On average, the FDA guidelines add up to the following percentage breakdown:

A) 50% of your calories come from sources of carbohydrates, preferably whole foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables (preferable a wide variety of vegetables) and whole grains
B) 25% of your calories come from sources of protein, such as lean meat, fat-free milk, light yogurt, etc.
C) 25% of your calories come from fats, preferably monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (oils, basically), and;
D) You are taking in at least 64 oz. of water a day.

Hi Christine,

Thanks for the info! Just looked at my average analysis and think I'm not too far off target. I do so great when I am at work. I start the day at the gym, eat a nice healthy breakfast,  smart-ones for lunch, a little nice snack, get home from work and i just can't seem to resist the junk. I think I will still lose cause when I eat something really bad (had icecream sundae on day 1), I went to gym in morning AND at night on day 2!! I always start these journals on all the diets that I have been on but never online. REally hoping this works. I keep the site open all day at work and as soon as I pop something in my mouth, I maximize the screen and log it in. Logging is great cause when you mess up, you have to admit it and write it down!

SANDRA -- you are so right about those butt squeezes. I just LOVE exercise where I don't have leave my seat! LOL.

How much are you guys looking to lose?

Sue

Hi there. I'm close too. I'm going to be 41 in March. I'm 5'6" and currently weigh 164. I started in October at  181.5 (although didn't start using this site until just a couple of weeks ago). My goal is 132 so I'll be at this for a while yet!

I was pretty bummed at how slow it is coming off but everyone on here convinced me that slow is much better and will give me a much better chance of keeping it off... although I swear I'll never put it back on again... especially after a solid year of dieting and exercising... about what I think it is going to take me!

I'd love to make some friends on here though because I'm pretty much doing this on my own. I also haven't figured out HOW to add a friend on here! When I click on Add Friends, it just takes me to a Help section. Although I suppose I COULD read that and learn how, right? lol

Elizabeth

LOL -- Hi Elizabeth. I haven't added any friends yet either. If I figure it out, I'll add you. Wow -- you're almost down 20 pounds! You must already be seeing a difference in how your clothes fit! That's great!

hi Elizabeth. I guess we are both starting at the same place. I'm 43 yrs -  5'7" and 165. I'm new to the site and trying to loose 30 pounds by summer. My problem is I suffer from low blood pressure and my doctor wants me taking in more salt which I'm learning is a diet no-no. Are you staying within your calorie count? I'm supposed to be taking in 1800 calories but I'm finding it hard, I feel like I've eaten a turkey! All the water is flushing out all the salt that I have to keep replacing and I feel like a yo-yo!!

Hi ks9564,

I started out in October working with a personal trainer... intensely. I decided to really invest in myself and focus solely on losing this weight because I know if I do, there will be so many benefits... a big boost to my self esteem included! When I started, I was only eating about 1200 calories a day (I think! I wasn't using the About eating log so I'm not 100% positive but it was close to 1200) and working out 10 hours a week... burning about 500 calories in each of those hours. But the weight was coming off so slowly. I had hoped to lose the 50 pounds in 6 months. The trainer told me I could lose it in 5 months following his advice so I was thrilled but by the time I reached Christmas, my almost 3 month mark, I had only lost about 12 pounds! I decided at Christmas to save myself a lot of money and go it alone. Since then, I've upped my calories to about 1500 a day and dropped my working out to about 4-5 hours a week and I've lost about 7 more pounds in the past month so my system seems to be working better so far for me!

Elizabeth

Same height same weight! I am just starting my diet today. I have to say this is a hard medium. We aren't going to see fast weight loss becuase we don't have a ton to lose! am going to try to be excited about even little losses. Hope it goes well for you!

hi everyone, i'm 38, 5'5", currently 170lbs (lost 3lbs since i started a month ago). so i think my stats are somewhat close to yours. my goal weight is 145lbs, hopefully by the end of june.

i don't have any serious exercise regime, maybe that's why my weightloss is a bit slow. i do walk everywhere i go, but that's pretty much it, really. better start using the fitness dvd i got a couple of months ago!
