age.... what does it look like?

Quote  |  Reply
i have always looked younger than i am, and i am a terrible judge of age. but i have been wondering lately, after going to a doctor who said, "wow, you don't look 38," what exactly 38 looks like... i think i look 38, but what do you think, what "should" a person look like at 20, 30, 40, and so on?

I get that too...always have.......it used to bother me but now I am GLAD I don't look 43....especially since my finace' is 22!!!
I'm 37 and still get carded....

However, if I'm with my bf who is 10 years older than me and has silvering, thinning hair - I don't get carded.

His age rubs off on me apparently...  =)

I don't know, I'm not a good judge of age either.
kip, you're engaged?! wow, one misses a lot when she doesn't check the boards for a couple oof months! congrats
I ask myself this same question! Most people assume I'm older!! I'm 21 yrs old and most people think I'm in my mid-twenties, which isn't too bad but when I get older I don't want to look even older!! I am confident that once I lose the extra weight I will look my age if not younger! When I turned 21 ans bought my first acoholic beverage they didn't even card me!! I was so mad! LOL
you look like a turtle to me.... and it's really hard to judge the age of a turtle.
well, in turtle years i'm an infant! i didn't post my picture because i'm not looking for people to tell me i look young or old, i just wanted to know peoples perception of what one should look like at certain ages...

and how about this, does being fit make you feel younger?
Age...UUURRRGGGHHHHH.....I want to know how the heck I'm suddenly 55?!  I use to hate it when i was a kid and "old folks" would say they dont know where the time went and they don't feel as old as they are....And now here I am...not a day over 32 (was my best year) in my mind....but the body?  Well at least I'm still breathing without an oxygen tank.  But I've met some who are old at 35 and others who are 75 y/o kids...It's all in the mind's eye.  Be happy with whatever age you are, make it your best one.
People have always had a hard time with my age.  When I was 13 people thought I was 18.  Now I'm 24 and people think I'm 16....either that or that I'm 30 something.  Whatever the case, most people don't think I look my age.  I guess defining age is kind of like defining normal.  It depends on the person.
macsnag, it sounds like you could make a killing in cheap stuffed animals at the "Guess Your Age" booth at the fair.
I get 16/15 ish all the time, eventhough I am 21, although I dont look that young to guys when I am breaking down the door in full tac :) .
lilborykuamami, I'm 33.  When I was in my late teens-early twenties I looked much more "mature" than my actual age.  I was actually called "ma'am" at the grocery store when I was 19!  (I swear that kid was only 17, and practically a peer.) Anyway, now that I'm in my mid 30s, everyone that I work with thinks I look like a baby.... Maybe we're just timeless... that would be ok.  :)

Kelly
you shouLd be thankfuL. aLL my Life peopLe have thought that i was oLder. right now i'm 19 but everyone at my work is convinced that i'm 23.
green_ you do look really young and cute too :)
I have always looked younger than I actualy am. I am not too sure about now (people haven't guessed my age in a while) but when I was 21 I was carded to go see a movie for people over 16 and I was pissed! Now if I look younger I am happy! :-)
I remember when I was 26 a girl I met at a conference said in respons to something I had said "but you're so young!" and I told her "well, I am 26, older than you". She was shocked.
I am almost 29 and before I quit smoking this month, I was still getting carded for smokes! I'm flattered that I appear younger than I really am, but it's hard to fathom that so many people would actually think I am less than 18???

At my age (approaching 30) I  think you should "look" your age. Without visible signs of aging. Just, 100% fully matured. Not young with baby fat still in the face like you are at 20, not "seasoned" with minor little imperfections as you no doubt will at 40. I think at 30, you should be at the peak of your body's aging process.

I only wish the extra 30 pounds I'm packing didn't make me look 18 :(
I've always looked young too.  My friends joke about it actually.  I was at a new years eve party and met a friend of my friend Jen, and Jen goes "how old do you think Beth is?" and her guess was 17.  I'm 26.  I used to hate looking young (when I was a freshman in college I looked like I was 13 or something) but I'm starting to like it now, especially since I'm developing an age complex.  Every single one of my friends is younger than I by at least a couple of months and some by 7 or 8 years and I've got 2 1/2 on my BF.  Sometimes they call me "mom" to piss me off.

Hopefully I'll age well, but if I don't, I've determined that I'm unfortunately too vain to accept aging gracefully.  I told my BF that if my boobs ever drop, we'd better have the money to have a surgeon pick them back up again, lol.
I am 29 and people are shocked when I say it. Everyone always guesses younger than 22. I tell them its from all the partying I do lol. I dont go out as much but I go to raves and whatnot still and I still dress like I am younger.
robochels - haha, raves.  Everyone looks young.  I'm not sure if it's the love for the music or the constant bouts of dancing or the fact that we dress like idiots, but I don't know a single one that looks their age.
age.. oh age.. lol I am  19, but everyoe says i looked like 15.. one time  taxi driver asked me how old i was, and i said 18, and i asked him why>?? Guess what!! he siad he didnt take kids under 13!!! ewwww i am so embarassed!! it happened alot. My bf is 22 and he looked like 18 or 17 i gueesss haha so yea ppl often think we're both underage couple lol
I think that after the age of 25 there aren't many reasons to get older except when you reach the age of retirement. So... when people tell me that i look younger than my age (30) I'm never offended :) I think that certain features will push you into an 'older' age bracket...grey hair, being over weight, smoking, etc... simply because some of these things have a negative effect on your skin. But some of the things that will positively effect a persons skin are... plenty of water (at least 64oz/day),  plenty of sleep (at least 7hrs/night), and exercise. So, I'm looking forward to this new year so that I can be told that I look even younger than I did last year :)
