We all know water retention comes with calorie increase, yes? But it seems that EVERY time I take my calories up I start to retain water for a few days again! >__< I drink plenty, and I keep an eye on my salt, so I was wondering if you guys ever experienced retention on every single calorie increase, or if this is something else I should be looking in to?

do you mean bloating?  how often do you increase, by how much, and how do you know when to increase?  i remember during my 1st recovery i always lloked pregnant, no fun.

Nope, I mean water retention - as in, when your legs and hips look a bit swollen by the end of the night compared to the mornings. When I began recovery I developed edema around the ankles and have never again gotten it that badly, but I can see a marked difference in my legs whenever I do end up increasing. As for how often, I increase if after a week I see loss or no movement on the scale. I went up by 500 from 2000 to 2500, and before then made my way from a drop at 1400 or so to 1900-2000 - so about 500 each time.

I do look pregnant all the time at the moment, though. ;< But that is a separate problem with bloat and constipation.

one thing i do know about holding water and the such is that one gram of carb holds 4 grams of fat in processing, and one gram of protein or fat only hold one gram of water in processing in the body. it your getting a lot of carbs(even in wheat breads/pastas/fruit etc) your body hold a gram of water for every carb, so maybe that will help? try and notice days where it's not so bad and look at what youve eatten and compare it to days you feel swollen and see what you eat. i know about the legs and ankle swoll feeling, it may also be from standing to much and putting pressure on your body that you do not have muscle for( i was told this by the doc one time, no proof lol)
