I think your're supposed to have 64 oz.
The recommended amount is 8 8oz glasses of water for every to stay healthy. Because water makes up most of your body, it is always needed. More is always great for many things. It helps you feel full, makes skin glow, hair shiny, and get this-drinking more water can actually help you get rid of water weight! I think that's crazy-but it's true! The more you drink the better!
Everyone's requirements are a little different, here is a calculator to help you figure out how much water you should drink:

Thanks! I actually love water ! With a fat slice of lemon!
I drink a lot of water normally but I was curious because I have been eating so much fiber and well I've been a little "uncomfortable" if you know what I mean.
That calculator is cool. It told me I should drink 120 oz a day!
thanks again

you don't have to drink your water consumption. the foods you eat, especially fruits and veggies, contain a lot of water. if you are eating healthy, you are probably getting 40-50% of your water needs through your foods.
the calculator at the link posted said I need 120 oz. so if I get 50% through my food, that leaves 60 oz. to drink. That's nearly 8 glasses, so that's about right.
you can get too much water for your body's balance. I was drinking much more than 60 oz per day, and going to the bathroom all the time, including 3-5 times during the night. I cut back because I was losing too much sleep. my hydration, as measured on my tanita scale, actually went UP after I dropped back. My conclusion is that I was getting more than my body needed, and it was just flushing it down the toilet.
Was the excess water unhealthy? Because it cost me unnecessary loss of sleep, yes it was.

Thats true about the food. I go to the bathroom 1x an hour at work which is so annoying!
Don't know if this helps but the amount of water one should consume is: Take your body weight and divide it by 2 and that is the amount in ounces you should consume daily.

The thing about water they say if you are thirsty you are already dehidrated.I am never thirsty. And I do not really like water or to drink any thing period because I am vever thirsty.for instance I came into work last night a 8pm I get off at 8am this morning and I have only had about a 1/2 a glass of water. How doe I get myself wanting tio drink water or anything?
force urself to. im never thirsty either, i always force the first bottle down and then afterwards its like i can jus keep drinking, hehe...
i always keep a bottle with me and when im doing nothing i take a big sip. basically thats how it goes all day. plus u can make it a point to drink a bottle with each meal u have.

t121703, the more water you drink, the thirstier you will become. I used to be like you, I was never thirsty, but that was because I didn't know the feeling. I'm sure everyone here will corroborate me when I tell you that once you get into drinking a lot of water every day, you'll start feeling thirsty all the time. I'm 5'2", 124 lbs and I drink a good 120 ounces a day.
wow! I used that calculator and it suggested I drink 16 servings of water a day. (8 16 oz bottles) I'm going to go float away now! ;)
People get a little obsessed about the 8 oz/8 glasses a day, but you need to address this on a personal basis. Aside from the idea that there is no scientific study to back up the 8/8 rule, there are so many factors including food intake, exercise, and where you live that will qualify your needs.

Whatever you do, don't just start drinking huge amounts of water based on a web calculator or second hand recommendations. See a doctor or nutritionist and figure out your need. Excess water can absolutely have detrimental effects, cost you money if you buy it bottled, and become an unnecessary obsession as others have mentioned.
