to try for another! As some of you know, I had a MC in May. I have had 2 healthy periods since then and my thyroid functions are being monitored.
Question: Have any of you used an ovulation predicter kit (OPK)? I know this sounds selfish, but I really would love to try for a boy this time. They say using OPKs can help pinpoint about 24 hours before ovulation will occur and help the couple determine when to have sex to increase the chances. Even if this is all a hoax, I thought it wouldn't hurt to try.
How about your Cervical Mucus? I have an ABUNDANT amount during ovulation...or is that right before ovulation occurs???? Still confused on that one.
In the back of my head, I can't help to worry that I am going to have another MC this time around. IF we do end up prego, how can I be excited but yet think in the back of my head that it is a possibility it will happen again? It kind of puts a damper on the parade...
REgardless, I just wanted to share the news that we are trying again and crossing my fingers it is successful this time around...

Hi Lindsay,
I know how you're feeling. I had a miscarriage about 4 years ago and it really freaked me out. But since then I have had two healthy children. I got pregnant about 5 months after having my miscarriage. I've never used a predictor kit but I do know that the mucus is a sign of ovulation. To be honest - we stopped trying and then it just happened on it's own. When you get pregnant again - don't worry - don't even think about miscarriage. Think positively, I just didn't really focus on it too much. I went out, had lunch, went shopping. Did other things to keep my mind busy. Then before I knew it I was through the first trimester. Good Luck!
I've never been pregnant, so I can't contribute to the miscarriage or baby thing, but I can't see any reason why an ovulation predictor kit would help with trying to have a boy.
The sex of the baby is determined by the sperm, which can either carry an X chromosome for a girl or a Y chromosome for a boy. Your eggs always carry an X chromosome, so sorry, but we as women have no control over having a boy or girl baby. It's a 50/50 chance every time unless you use in-vitro, in which case you can hand pick sperm and eggs, and have control over not only the sex of the baby, but also risks of various genetic diseases. (I'm not trying to recommend in-vitro, this is just a statement of scientific fact).
Good luck!
