ahem..(edit) i've been eating 8-10,000 cals for four weeks...
(this is my first post since i've joined.)
i used to love veggies and lean meats. i wasn't exposed to refined sugars or white bread until i stayed with my aunt for three weeks. (i'm 17 yrs old; 5'6)
i'd been given pounds of dried mango, loaves of challah bread, fried foods etc.
now that i had eaten those foods, i've been eating 8 to 10 slices of bread with butter and topped with sugar, brown sugar, or jelly.
i don't eat out of control (like binge eating), but "normally". i'm only full/satisfied after 10 slices.
i realized this is becomeing a problem when i logged in my food. i had eated a whole stick-and-a-half of butter and two loaves of oroweat bread.
(i don't know what i'm looking for by posting this forum. help maybe; or a reality check. i'm a little shaky right now.)
well, it seems to me that you're eating way too much unhealthy food - ten slices of bread with nasty crap on top??? I would suggest you go back to your lean meats, veggies, fruits etc... you need to take back the responsibility for your life and not let your aunt's influence be too strong. Good luck.
Ummmm what are you trying to accomplish? Gaining weight? Cause unless you're an olympic athlete you WILL gain weight from that much. But you're posting in health and support, so are you underweight and need to gain weight?
Tell us a lil about yourself cause I don't know where you're going with this.
i wanted to maintain my 120 lb frame. now i weigh 145+.
this is probably a sugar addiction. i researched sugar addiction on the internet but i still eat butter, nasty fat and mayonayse.
what upsets me the MOST is that i tried to eat my regular serving of steamed veggies, but now they taste nasty! my taste buds prefer sugar/butter to broccoli now.
120 seems a little slight for a 17 year old 5'6" does it. It takes 21 days to change a habit. It is a struggle that most of us girls and guys go through our entire lives.. watching what we eat.. trying to eat healthy to maintain our weight.
You can start by cutting down to just a few... How long will you be at your Aunts place. Maybe you need to speak to her about how you are going to gain weight if you continue to eat her bread. She may be able to help. Ask her to put out only a few slices.. Or are you helping yourself....? Maybe you can just cut down to a treat of one or two. Self talk is good too. you are saying that the veggies now taste nasty..... Tell youself how much your veggies are good.. Tell yourself how bad the bread is.. self talk is a very high motivator.
Careful what you think as they become your words.. Careful what you say for they become your life.. You can do it. only you can do it. the veggies are so much better for you..
Welcome to the world of support with eating and weight... good luck.
Oh.. If I were your Aunt.. I certainly would wonder what was going on with you eating 10 slices of bread with all the junk on it.. Maybe she is concerned as well... :O)

Silkie,
I get that sometimes too. At times I feel like veggies and healthy food are the greatest thing in the world, and sometimes I feel they're downright repulsive (and choose sugary, fatty foods over them). Oddly enough, whenever I'm fond of veggies, I'm not even tempted by unhealthy foods - I just don't think of them. Out of sight (or mouth) is out of mind?
The way it works for me is to realise that I've fallen off the wagon and just cut out (or cut down on) foods that I know are bad. I start eating healthily again and, hey presto!, in 2-3 days I'm loving veggies again (and not thinking of sugary foods).
Get back to the good food, and forget those bread and sugar combos!
LOL, you're eating almost as many calories as Olympiad Phelps.
All you need to do is practice self control. I do this by going into Carvel Ice Cream and Panera's once a week and looking around; I just go in, remember the taste, look at the people gorging themselves with fat and carbs, look at my new four pack abs, smile, and walk out.
i went out of the house today (away from the kitchen), took long walks, and swapped peanut butter instead of regular butter. i only ate 6 slices of bread!
i'm taking a slow, steady pace toward my old habits.
