AHHH!

I basically come home from school and eat for an hour everyday. But the problem is that I don't really eat too much the entire day I got to school. I wake up at 5:30AM eat breakfast. I have time for lunch at 10:30 pm. Then, I have to wait until 3:00 After an hours walk home. I get soo hungry. Today I came home and ate like 4 lindt chocolates, a bowl of cereal, and nine hersheys kisses. I think I need to just maybe eat something healthier. But it feels like I'm going all day and not eating enough! Any ideas about my breathing in food as soon as I get home?

Can you brown bag a lunch and eat between or during classes?? Or carry some snacks to get you thru the day. That is way too long to go with out eating. No wonder you are starving.
Heey!! Im Kat!!

My advice is to eat a big breakfast!

special K strawberry cereal is really great!

especially with a few slices of bananas!

Yes take a couple of snacks 2 school!

Ummm.... Granola Bars are good if you like oats and stuff like that!

Mix thinks up with salads and fruits and veggies!

I know chocolate it to die for, but STAY AWAY!!

lol, ya if you dont buy it, hey, you cant eat it!

maybe ONE chocolate bar a week

My mom always says its not good to eat dessert

everyday, i eat fruit popsicles , real fruit, no sugar added!

Yeah I've been trying to get in a HUGE breakfast and I'm always drinking water to have SOMETHING in my belly! But I feel like if it's the summer, or if it's the weekend, I do great. But the walk home is too much to bear on an empty stomach. Sometimes I'm bad and get fries at Macdonalds, then walk for an hour and eat like a pig!

It's not like I eat chocolate THAT MUCH. Like I probably down that much like every other month. It's just so annoying that I can't eat during school. How are we expected to work hard with absolutely no energy?!

if your hungry its a good thing you do drink water!

But mabey keep a granola bar in a backpack or whatever

Try sugar free chocolate its not bad its pretty good come

to think of it! lol........... and mabey eat in bettween classes!

That MIGHT help?!?
I agree with the others about putting a couple of quick and easy snacks in your backpack, like granola bars, or even some peanut butter & crackers, or a piece of fruit, or the real fruit chews (make sure it's made from real fruit and not from concentrates or sugar/syrups).  The cereal when you come home is good choice, however instead of the chocolate, why not try some sliced fruit in the cereal?  It would still give you the sweetness that you would find in candy, but a lot healthier for you.  I know the school cafeterias don't always offer the best choices when you are trying to watch your calories and such, however if they have 1% or skim milk, or salads, or fresh fruits and veggies, why not pick up a little something during your lunch break, instead of going all that time, and then going for the unhealthy stuff (i.e. chocolate) when you get home?

Best of luck, and hang in there!!
I get so angry at schools for the crazy lunch schedules.  You have to eat breakfast very early, so 10:30 is a good time for lunch, but it's way too long until the end of the school day.  My daughter had this situation for years.  She'd come home starved, eat and then couldn't eat supper at 5 pm.  So I just rearranged things so she got a good meal when she got home and made supper later.  Talk to your parents and see if they can help you out with this.  It would be better to have "supper" when you get home from school, instead of filling up on snack foods.

Willow has a good idea - carry easy to eat, healthy snacks to tide you over.

Congratulations for recognizing the problem!
Thanks everybody!

My mom just bought these healthy things for after school. Good yogurts, and all that stuff... olives... lettuce. GOOD STUFF. Trying to maybe fill up on the good veggies and stuff! =0
Heyy I have almost the same schedule as youu!
I wake up at 5:30 every morning and eat.  I don't usually like eating a huge breakfast cause it makes me feel bloated for the rest of the day, but breakfast should be largest i guess.

Then i don't usually eat again til around 3:00 pm, since i have 15-16 (lunch) which is at an awkward time, and in addition i wouldnt touch most of the school food.

Advice:
  • Eat a larger breakfast
  • Pre-prepare your lunch when you make your breakfast; then you wont keep adding more?
  • Edit: pack your own lunch, goes with above ^
  • Bring a GOOD power bar (zone, kashi, etc.) to school and eat it when you get hungry.
  • Don't hang around the kitchen when you get home.  when i do this i feel like i SHOULD be eating, since I didnt eat much, and im in the kitchen... yeah. Eat what you need and go upstairs or something.
  • Drink water.
manda, skipping meals is not good for growing girls (or boys either)  you need nourishment to grow strong and healthy. Since food is digested within a couple of hours, how could a big breakfast make you feel "bloated"?

You said it yourself - carry a healthy lunch with you along with several easy to eat, non messy snacks.  Then you can have a healthy snack after school and a sensible dinner, and maybe even an evening snack.  Small frequent meals are good for you.
Well I don't skip lunch - I have like a snack (half a lunch) in school and the rest when I get home - so its sort of broken up?
Hm anyways I guess i'll remove that bulletin.  I was just putting all different tips since everyone seems to have different needs, but youre right :]

And I don't know.  I still eat; it just makes me feel that way for some reason. :/
