Ahhh.!!!!! My hair!!!! *Sob* :(

Hey all.....

hope you don't mind if I rant here....

so, I have always had super long hair, atleast to my waist....and it's very thick and curly...I was washing it and I used this dandruff shampoo, and it dried my hair out so much it felt like a brillo pad! So there I am reaching for the conditioner in the shower, hoping the conditioner would detangle it since I had piled it all on top of my head while I was shampooing it....

No conditoner!!!! 4 bottles of shampoo....ugh.....So I had to wait for my room mate to bring me some home since he was the one who screwed up and bought all shampoo anyways......I figured once I conditioned it I would be good to go......WRONG!

He gets home about 20 minutes after I shampooed, there I am trying to detangle it with a comb and my fingers....I use half a bottle of conditioner...but the dandruff shampoo dried it out so much it was course and brittle...and because of the curls....matted!!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!

I tried so hard to break up the tangles....but my hair is soooo thick and dries out so fast normally, the shampoo just stripped all the moisture out...I had to cut the tangles out. *sob*  because all I was doing was breaking the hair off and pulling my scalp so hard I was in tears in the shower......

so now my hair is shoulder length and extremely dry and poofy..,I'm going to see my BF in March and now I look horrible....I cried sooo hard while I was having to cut it off....I've always loved my hair....

thankfully since its curly you can't tell I cut it myself....so thats the one plus in this...but...my hair!!! :( :(

aww that sucks. they have hair growth pills, they make your hair grow an inch a month. my sister just started taking them.
yeah, uhh hair pills are just vitamins.

anyway, next time you fry your hair try making a homemade conditioner before you chop it off.  I use real mayo, avacado, olive oil, eggs, apple cider vinegar, honey, coconut milk, and real aloe.  I typically don't have all those things laying around, but be sure to always keep a small jar of real mayo (not salad dressing) in the fridge.  it works wonders on hair.  gather the items you do have and do the following...

step one:  put a towel in the dryer and turn it on.
step two:  mix up all that stuff in a bowl and gob it through hair.  if you can comb it through great, if not just keep on gobbing it on.
step three:  get a plastic sack from the grocery store and stuff all your hair in there and tie the handles on the front of your head to make a cap.
step four:  take the hot towel from the dryer and wrap around your head.
step five:  smell bad and leave that crap on your hair for as long as you can
step six:  rinse and wash with a moisturizing shampoo
step seven:  be more careful next time =)
I have curly hair and I have found that a deep condition at the salon can do wonders. It runs around 20-40 bucks and it's totally worth it.
speaking of salons, maybe go get it styled? have someone cut it into a shape so you don't hate it so much. it's already significantly shorter, so what have you go to lose?

Thanks everyone......

I wish I knew about that home made conditioner thing before, but even thhen I doubt it would have helped much since it was so matted and tangled it was almost hard feeling when I touched it....yuck.....

I am going to have it styled and colored soon tho....I just don't want the woman at the salon to look at me like "what the ^%$# were you thinking....?" ugh....

I sent a picture to my boyfriend last night...his response was..."awww....my poor possum" which made me laugh sooo hard because his accent is so cute. and then he goes..."Well you know....most of the ends of your hair were dried out anyways...you look cute" here I am thinking I wanted to hug him so much right then and he finishes with "well....besides the gray hairs I mean."

UGH!!!!

i wish i had thick long hair!

I have medium length, fine fine hair - that i have done quite a number on blow drying and dying - so needless to say its a bit damaged :(

Oh yes dandruff shampoo and curly hair do not mix! I figured that out when I was young. I have long curyly thin hair and curly hair is typically very dry so you shouldn't shampoo it very often only once or twice a week and never again use dandruff shampoos they dry your hair out even if it's shampoo/conditioner in one!

Mmmm... I had the worst curliest hair ever (now have straightened it), my stylist had recommended a hair serum. You just need to use one or two drops and comb it through to detanlge a bit eaiser. I like the chi serum as you can use it for both dry and wet hair, but there are lotsa brands to choose from.

don't worry... the best thing about hair is that IT GROWS BACK!  :)
can you donate the chopped-off hair to cancer patients for wigs?
I don't think they would want it if I could barely get a brush through it and resorted ti hacking it off......lol...
