I'm about to go on a week long trip to Texas for my best friends wedding! I'm totally expecting to let go of the diet for a bit, but I was wonderng if anyone has great ideas for food I can take with me to the airport that I can eat all day. I'll end up flying from before breakfast through pretty much dinner with my layovers. I don't want to succumb to the airport restaurants. What could I bring thats easy to pack (and FDA approved)?

I hate airport food.  I like to bring my own trail mix, my favorite is almonds, cashews, dried blueberries and chocolate chips.  Not exactly low-cal but it doesn't take much to take the edge off.  Homemade muffins or a sandwich should be ok.  I've never had a problem getting food through security, only drinks.

Sandwiches. And if it was me, a really good chocolate bar to eat with the coffee on the plane.

Air popped popcorn and beef jerky are my current airport faves

Bringing your own sandwich is a pretty good idea..or Tyson makes those lunch-on-the-go kits that have preportioned crackers and meat in pretty compact packaging. A pack of gum so you have something to chew on while you're waiting in the terminals. And I always keep a luna bar stashed in my purse in case my flight is delayed.

That said, it might not hurt to look up nutritionals for one or two major chains (Burger King, Starbucks, etc.) to get one or two ideas of something you can grab that won't blow your planning. Just in case, so you're not stuck guessing.

Have a good trip!

When I travel, I always pack some Luna, Fiber one, and Kashi bars.  Any one of them is a perfect light meal if I can find an airport snack kiosk somewhere that has some apples or prepacked fruit salad.  I've also prepacked mixes of cashews, almonds, dried cherries, and dried apricots in baggies for a very filling trail mix snack.

Pretzels, nuts and/or dry fruit, granola bars are all good ideas. Also, you can bring fruit like apples or oranges (as long as they're whole).
