How much alcohol do you drink a week?

Quote  |  Reply

I was raised in a family that seldom drinks alcohol so I hardly ever drink.

My partner's family loves alcohol and he drinks quite a lot.  He never really gets drunk because alcohol doesnt seem to affect him at all, but he can easily go through 1 - 1.5L (36 - 53oz) of whisky in a week, and possibly some beer.  It kind of annoys me, though I dont know why. I guess my 2 biggest concerns are that 1) its not healthy to drink that much and 2) it's a huge waste of money!

How much alcohol do you drink on average per week?

How much do you think is reasonable for a 'normal' person to drink per week?

Any other thoughts?

You sound just like my brother's girlfriend & my mother!!! My brother & father have this drinking problem - they are OBSESSED with drinking, it's ridiculous! I don't drink a DROP and neither does my mother (she'll take the occasional sip of my father's wine just to appease him but that's it) and neither does my brother's girlfriend - she always complains to me about my brother but my brother just drinks like it's water.... He doesn't get drunk until he drinks like 2 handles so it takes a lot... but as you said - it's such a waste of money... but at a certain point you just sort of have to accept it because they won't change their ways. It's just a part of their life. As long as he is not an angry drunk or a weepy drunk then I think you'll be OK. If it affects your sex life, then I would talk about it, ha ha!

I was also raised in a family of non-drinkers. My parents drink maybe twice a year (Christmas and New Year's Eve). However, as I've grown up, and learned, and experienced different things, I've realized that I love the taste of wine and beer and don't see the point to restrict it to twice per year.

I have on average between 4-6 drinks per week; most of the time never more than 1 or 2 per given night. Most of the time its a cold light beer after work, and on the weekend one or two glasses of wine. I would consider that moderate?

A few years ago I didn't drink that often, but when I did, then it was 8-10 drink in a short period of time. THAT isn't really smart because after the third drink, you don't even taste it anymore, and you end up with a killer hangover.

I say, just do what feels right to you. Some people don't like the taste of alcohol and that's fine too.

sometimes to much sometime to little for god only knows this past weekend i overdid the ultras and paid the price on sunday man its like every time i see that band play (classic rock, pink floyd, stevie ray vaughn,zz top)at certain pubs i really get into it!! will i ever learn!!!

I have a couple of glasses of wine every night.

Sometimes, if I'm feeling too out of control, I'll go on a hiatus. But that doesn't usually last very long.

I love curling up with a good book, and my cat, and drinking a glass (or two) of wine. It's one of the finer pleasures in life.

I also love sharing a bottle with friends and talking for hours. Sometimes until the sun comes up.

I don't know. It's just part of my lifestyle, and one I won't give up, nor do I see why anyone should. I run a lot. I eat healthy. I don't smoke (anymore). And I get my work done. I enjoy drinking at the end of the day. And if you'll join me, even better!
