Now im 23..and im a party girl i love beer, liquor, i just basically love drinking..but really ( i swear) i stopped drinking beer i have been drinking pinot grigio who is a very good friend of mine..i dont really drink EVERY weekend and if i do i drink either friday or saturday...but my friend who lost a lot of weight shes also a party girl she got a PT and he told her if she had to drink to drink gin and Tonic..i hate gin and tonic it tastes like pine trees..and then i read that liquor and a diet coke or seltzer was not as bad..and then i read that a liquor and juices like OJ and Cranberry is fine..i dont know i really wanna lose weight but i also dont want to stop having funCry

Unfortunately,  there are a lot of calories in booze.  I try to limit myself to one big night on the weekend.  Vodka and soda is a better than anything with juice or cola.  Pretty much any glass of wine has a minimum of 150 calories, light beer is 98 calories.  When I know I will be drinking I try to work out a little extra that day and keep the other calories low.  Not drinking at all is tough so if it is possible just try to cut down a bit to keep the pounds off.    You can still have fun don't worry but you will be shocked when you log in all the drinks you had and see what it adds up to. 

yeah thats very true...me and my boyfriend are actually starting to do cardio on saturdays so i CAN drink..but i really dont drink that much on the weekends but now that summer is coming up BBQs and beer pong (my fave) are gona be more frequent but thanks for your help by the way LOVE the screename :)

its not just about calories, there are studies showing alcohol inhibits your body's ability to burn fat and has other negative side effects that can slow your progress

That being said, you can still drink and lose weight (I have done it) but you have to accept the fact that its going to inhibit your progress. 

There is no reason you have to drink gin and tonic.  Actually tonic has 80 cals per serving in it.  I usually go with vodka and diet coke or wine.. but you should just drink whatever you like in moderation really.  Try keeping it to a few drinks once a week while you are losing weight.  You don't have to drink 15 beers every time you go to a BBQ....

I love this post. Gin and tonic does indeed taste like pine trees.

Try vodka with diet coke, or with slimline tonic. OJ and cranberry juice are sugary so I'd give them a miss. Personally.

You can still lose weight and enjoy the odd raz :)

I had the same problem! I hate liquor with pop, I have never liked the way it tastes and normally will have it with juice to mix. However, My personal trainer hated it because juice has a lot of sugar! So he suggested vodka with water and crystal light, which is 0 calories and it tastes great! (And comes in many flavors!) So I would give that a try!

 

Malibu Rum only has 51 calories per oz... and there is Diet Rite. But i really like the vodka with water and crystal light!

yep, vodka and diet soda, I like to use diet sprite and melon vodka it's very refreshing and only 49 calories a drink. Try the flavored vodkas I'm sure you will find one you like.

yeah that sounds yummmy..i tried blueberry vodka and diet gingerale...or even vanilla vodka and diet gingerale

hey on my diet I drink only water...try that for 5 months..lol   ...I liked the beer, wine and liqour however in excess as with everything it is not healthy.   And if your dieting you have to pretty well cut excessive alcohol out all together because research has shown over and over, we should all be only drinking  water if your trying to lose weight and keep it off...but water sucks!! Honest... lol

What I do now at a party or BBQ, is I get one beer and I drink it slowly then keep filling the bottle with water...no one knows and I am fine, happy and accepted by everyone else who will get hammered.  But some will think, I drank 15 beers.   lol

So as you see, one beer or a shot of liquour or whatever...but the amount does not meet party standards at all or weight loss criteria. 

If your a good actress without the need for alcohol, just do as I do with beer or order drinks that look like they are alcoholic...they are usually a bit cheaper too (bonus).  Like virgin fruit drinks, caesars, zombies, punches, long islands, and even cranberry juice or lemonade in the Summer. ..anyone asks..say...it has rum, gin, vodka or whatever in it.  Who cares as long as your holding a drink, or nursing a drink..look and act like your a party girl. 

Image is everything nowadays but acting like your drinking alcohol helps when you want to lose weight,  be in control of what kind of party girl you become and lose those pounds you want to lose.

Enjoy life in your 20's but you do not need alcohol or drugs to do it. 

When I started on my diet in January, I completely cut out alcohol.  Then, after I finished the race that I was training for, I started drinking again.  I drink vodka and Crystal Light and I'm still losing weight.  I've lost around 15 -17 pounds since the beginning of January and it's still steadily coming off.  I have found that it's a LOT harder to get up in the morning to run everyday, but if I do it, the pounds and inches are still coming off.  During the day, I drink water ALL day.

My biggest problem to drinking and losing weight is the energy loss that I have because of the effects alcohol has on my body. 

In order of calorie impact..

1. the "skinny bitch" as i used to call it, is diet coke and vodka....do i need to explain why people calorie restricted can be be-atchy?

2. red wine

3. alternate each drink with a club soda with a lime, that way your friends wont know your shortin them.

i have lost 12 lbs since new years.

5x cardio, 3x weight lift, no bread, processed sugar or (alcohol) per week
