tea is officially the best thing to kill hunger and cravings. i was just having maaaaaajor night time cravings and i made some tea with artificial sweetener and i'm not hungry or craving!
the whole thing pans out to be about 3 calories and is mostly water. plus tea has antioxidants.
i DARE anyone to find something better that has LESS calories than tea. besides water of course...which is just dead boring.

Green tea...
I too drink a lot of tea. I mix it up though. I drink a couple cups of regular Green Tea and then Drink a few cups of Herbal Tea.
Your right, no matter which I drink all cravings are gone for at least a couple of hours. Got to love it!

My fave tea is Stash tea Moroccan Mint Green Tea. If its later at night, I drink decaf green tea. I also like plain ole Earl Gray (reg or decaf).
I like tea and will start making it when I have a night time craving. Thanks for the tip!

I have one drawer in my kitchen with a divider tray from Home depot: Each little bin is stocked with a different type of tea!
I have Chai, Green, chamomile, lapsang souchong (my fave), black oolong, morning thunder, red zinger, triple ginseng, Stash lemon, red pomegranite with white tea, mint, alfalfa, fenugreek, reishi mushroom, daily detox, and a few more starys...
I also keep several cans of loose tea - Scottish Breakfast, Lapsang Souchong, and Earl Grey-for making a pot at a time, when I am either reading or painting, so I can sip as i work. It stays warm for over an hour with a tea cozy.

WORD. I have been swearing by it myself. I like celestial seasonings "tension tamer" in the evening.
I LOVE TEA! and always have, but now i pretty much rely on it. i keep finding myself shuffling to the kitchen to put the kettle on the stove. i think i have between 25-30 varieties... all kinds of blacks, greens, white, herbal, you name it! any time i feel like i want to eat out of boredom, i just go make a cup of tea. love it!
my favorite tea is Rooibos. Yum! I also like a green mango - or really any fruity kind of tea.
I am so glad I found this thread. lol
I have maybe 7 different kinds of tea in my kitchen?
But most of time I either drink the Japanese green tea or Jasmine tea. Although, I do love the organic peppermint tea I bought yesterday.

I'm from the South North Carolina and all we drink here is Sweet tea. Luckily I was able to kick my sweet tea and diet coke habits and replaced them with Green tea!!
Favorite is Lipton's Green Tea with Mandarin Orange Flavor.
Now if I could only figure out a great way to carry it with me in the car. My friends think I'm crazy driving "Stick Shift" with a hot mug of Green tea.
I've lost 10 pounds since Jan 8th and I think drinking tea not sweetend is a major part of my diet.
Good luck and success to everyone...

I so agree with you! I too have discovered tea (preference is green) and can even drink it without sweetner - whcih says a lot since I am so use to having sugar in everything! I have cravings in the evenings like many folks do. I have my dinner and then my tea. Heck, some nights I may have two cups! LOVE IT!! Great suggestion for others!
Peppermint tea is awesome if your stomach is upset
just tried the rooibos last night and LOVE it!
it's just so comforting wrapping your hands around a mug of piping hot tea after dinner :P

Does anybody know why Tea helps cravings? I would have guessed it was the caffeine (a stimulant) because stimulants are used frequently in appetite-suppressants, but a lot of people here report herbal teas working, which have no caffeine. Is it just putting something hot in your stomach? The flavor, or sweetness maybe?
For the record- I like plain black tea, hot or iced, with a little artificial sweetener and lemon:~)

Hello daisyg, I like tea but sometimes I am not in the mood for tea so what i do is i put either a gum or mint candy into my mouth and i chug down the tea... i find that i like it a whole lot more like that. Personally i drink green tea and pepermint tea.
not 100% about cravings, but it certainly fixes your hunger. there's that old saying that if you wait 20 mins your cravings can go away. water always fills you up and tea is primarily water, so it's just a more interesting way to keep full.
I totally, completely, unequivocably agree with you 100%!!! I've been preaching this FOREVER. Isn't it great??? I just love it! I drink tea CONSTANTLY. In fact, you know how some people like to reach for a sweet after a meal? Well, I've made a habit of making tea after a meal -- a good, innocent habit to get into. And a nice little ritual too! :)
Does anybody know why Tea helps cravings? -- Daksin
For me, it's simply an oral fixation -- the act of keeping the mouth and hands busy. But it also tastes good. Yeah, it's more "something to do" than anything scientific (for me).

Green Tea :)
I broke out the pretty blue tea pot with matching tea cups that my grandmo gave me today. Having Japanese green tea. :) I am loving it!
Here is a photo of my tea time!
hehe. Ellen's show always put me in a good mood.
