All those still interested in losing 100 lbs join me.
Hey everyone. Thanks for making the transition over here. We have to stick together and stay strong. Bathing suit season and smoldering hot temps are on their way and we wanna look even steamier. I encourage everyone to still post their weight loss when they weigh in but I'm not going to make it a challenge or a goal for us. We just want to congratulate your on your triumphant success. Good luck!

I think it's good to remember that this is our life and not to just the road to a goal (being weight right now). We're here to enjoy our lives with friends and family! It's okay and Good!! to splurge occasionally.. it makes those times even more special and looked forward to!!
I count my calories daily but I eat whatever I want within them.
It's been awhile since I've checked in, but I just wanted to say I completely agree with this. I've been keeping to within 200 calories of my goal (1750 calories per day) each day. I like to have big dinners, so I tend to eat small breakfasts and lunches so I can splurge at dinner time. If I want ice cream for a snack (my weakness), I get it, but I've learned portion control and how not to be a glutton which was always the killer before.
I haven't weighed myself in 2 weeks, and I stepped on the scale this morning and weighed 305 lbs!! I started at the beginning of april at 325 lbs, so that means I've lost 20 lbs in the last three weeks! I know that this will probably be the easiest 20 lbs to lose, but it's a start towards my ultimate goal of 220 by June 1st of 2009
Hi all,
It has been a couple of weeks since I checked in. Baseball season is a very very busy time. Weight loss has been going well. As of Friday I am 2lbs away from my first goal, being under 200lbs. I have lost 20lbs since I started CC's and 52lbs from my highest weight. Keep going guys, don't give up we can do this.
Have a good day and a good week,
Cyndie
Just got back from another dog training weekend and had a great week for weight loss of 4.8 lbs this week. [Last week was 0.6lbs].
So the overall average loss since I started is 2.6lbs a week - YAY - that is within the "safe" range of no more than 1% of your body weight a week.
I am already prepared that the coming week may not be as good. It is not a race, it is a lifestyle change. It is definitely a cyclical thing. My preferred goal is to loose an average 2lbs a week with 1lb a week being acceptable.

Hello. I'm a newbie to the forums and found this thread and thought it would be cool to join it. I'm a mom to two boys ages 6 and 9. I will be 30 in August and am a full time law student. Married and trying to finally get off my butt and lose this weight that has packed on since getting married and having kids. Currently I'm at 237. Started at 250 three weeks ago. I'm hoping to be down to 220 by May 20th and then on down from there. I'm counting calories and doing cardio everyday. It's great to find such wonderful support!
My Monday morning weigh-in was just so so. Only down .5 lb. Yesterday I was down 1.5 but this morning I was up one lb. I do think that is not real, had a rather salty dinner last night and think that other lb. will be gone tomorrow. I sure hope so, I am not discouraged just surprised. I had a couple challenges this week-end that I think I handled well. Husband and I went shopping Saturday morning,at noon we were headed home and he said Sprinkles and Cream or home????? We always have lunch at Sprinkles and Cream a few times a season, it is a old fashion ice cream stand that has limited lunch menu. I said lets do Sprinkles and Cream. I ordered a marinated chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries and we shared a root beer. I only ate the chicken left the bread, 2/3 of the sweet potatoes and had about a third of the bottle of root beer. Dinner i cut back and had small shrimp stir fry and didn't count calories that day. Sunday we went back to store for a couple things and out of habit I looked in the ice cream case because there is a flavor that we love and they never have it. Rocky Mountain Raspberry. They had 3 tubs and it was on sale for $2.99. Put all three in my cart. Thought about it, put one back. Last night I had 1/2 cup 160 calories, while he had a big dish. I ate it slow enjoyed every mouth full and included it in my daily count. Because this is a lifestyle change I must figure out how to handle these situations. BEFORE if he had a big dish so did I.

THINGAGAIN78. You are at almost exactly my current weight ( I am at 235). Glad to have you here. I am down to 235 from 275ish. I have lost about 15 lbs since joining cc.a little over a month ago. I am walking every day ( at least 3 miles) and now am adding weights, to arms and legs to help firm up. add me as a buddy if you wish and we can see how we get there together. 220 by may 20th would be quite a stretch but remember as long as you are going down it is a good thing. shoot for your goal, but do not get upset if it is not exact number. Hope every one is having a good day. We are having beautiful weather here in SE Texas. It has been quite hot up to this week but we got a little cool front sun. that helped cool us off. the low was 50 or so and high today 75 or so. Very unseasonably cool for us. I am loving it. longwaytogo, great job! it is coming right along. hope things are going ok for you. WOW SKOROSAC looks like you have been doing all the right things.. smileyman you and my husband are close in weight, he is at about 309. he gets real aggravated when the scale doesn't move much, but he has lost about 6-7 lbs. He hasn't been following the same plan I have for very long. He is anxious to get below 300 ( heis 6' tall). He has arthritis in his knees real bad so he hasn't been able to do much exercise. I have told him when I get to the pool he needs to go too(he doesn't like the water like I do) but walking in the pool is good for people with arthritis esspecially in knees hips etc.stephobea9, I totally agree with your outlook on the calories. I do the same thing. whatever I have has to fit into my 1500ish calorie plan for the day. I try to eat healthy at least 5 days out of the week, but sometimes have to have an Icee, or a taco or whatever it is I am in the mood for. I have been able to stay on this plan better than any other time I have ever tried. I am keeping up with you all and hope that journey is getting easier for all of you. If it hasn't hang in there, it will. lonestarpenny( Penny)
Hey everybody, just checking in. I'm down 8 lbs since (re)starting this journey two weeks ago, and I hate to know it's going to slow. I'm so impatient! It's ok though, I would love to average 2 lbs per week - that would be amazing!
I love reading about everyone else's journeys, especially since many of you are so much further along than I am. Thank you for sharing.

I am one who needs to lose 100 lbs...can some bring me up to speed about this thread? Thanks!!!
None of us were overweight as children or teens. My parents and brothers didn't gain weight until at least late 20s and Mom not until her 50s. My brothers and Mom are maybe 10-20lbs overweight each now. And my Dad is about 30lbs over. But he's 66! lol
I was the only one that gained weight as young as 20 up to a size 12. Then I really gained when we started our family back to back as we did (they're now 9, 8, 7, 6, 3.5, and 3mos). At my largest non-pregnant, I was a size 24W and 292lbs in January 2005. Since then I slowly lost to 233lbs last May, then gained a little plus 41.5 pregnancy lbs and I've lost that and am back to 236 again and she's 3 months old today.
As for motivations and sizes just this week I was able to squeeze back into the regular size 18s (not 18W) when I hit the 230s again. YAY! This is good because my only pair of 18W were getting holes in the thighs from my jiggly legs ;) A major motivation is that I refuse to buy more size 18 clothes.
Last spring before I was expecting I bought a bunch of size 16 shorts and capris online in anticipation of summer so my goal now is by mid-June this year that I can wear those. My next goal after that is by Labor Day I can wear a size 14 skirt I bought on sale from LLBean :) I even call it "my Labor Day skirt", lol.
That kind of tangible motivation is what I need. The scale is good, too, but when I can try on clothes and then am able to pull them up farther and farther until I can button them up - that's such a good feeling! I've done that since I was a size 24W. I just buy something similar in the next size down and 'skinny' my way into them. Sometimes you can lose inches and not pounds at the same rate so that helps when that happens, too.
Just a Q and come rambling .. :)

satupled - I think this thread's pretty free-form, we post our stats each week (or however often) and support when each other needs it. :) Welcome!
That's a good question stephtobea9. I know I always considered myself overweight, but since I'm so tall, I always weighed more than others. I was 165 and 6' tall and thought I was huuuuge, and now I'd give anything to be there (that was in high school).
I really let myself go in college, since I wasn't active in karate or kickboxing anymore, and it was easy to do - since I already felt like I was huge, it didn't necessarily feel any different as I gradually BECAME huge. I topped out at 315 pounds, through terrible eating and no activity. Lots of TV. I think TV is awful, it sucks you in and holds you captive. I think I'll start another post about that, actually, since I have a theory on that...
I went to Japan for a year through college, and lost 115 pounds just through walking and not having the money to eat. I felt GREAT!!! But since I hadn't CHOSEN to make any real lifestyle changes, and was just forced through my circumstances, when I came back to America I didn't change anything and my weight crept right back up to 300 pounds. TALK about Yo-YO! EEK!
Now, I'm trying to consciously replicate Japan for myself. I walk several times a day, a mile or two to start, and am watching what I'm eating thanks to this site. So, I don't know if that answers your questions or not, but that's my story. :)
I wasn't always big weight wise(altho I always thought I was HUGE! jeeeesh). I was a healthy weight until I had to start working as a teenager & entered the world of fast food & lack of exercise. (I worked at Long John Silver's!)
I gained about 70 pounds over the course of 4 years & decided at the age of 22, I'd had enough. So, I Slim Fasted/Metbolife'd my way down to 200 pounds & stayed there for 3 years....until I got preggers with our first daughter. I was in great shape during the pregnancy until I developed pre-eclampsia & was put on bed rest in my 5th month. It was downhill from there. =( I gained almost 60 pounds with her, worked my way down to about 230 before getting preggers again with daughter #2 in 2004. Had her in 2005 & in 2006, started back on Slim Fast...to the tune of gaining 11 pounds! Quit that & decided to get serious about losing this weight the right way...no drugs or magic shakes or wacky diets. Found this site, then Paul McKenna & am on my way to a healthy me!
Lori
I was also reading some of the posts on how we got to be so overweight.I have always been thin as a kid. It was after my second child I started to hang onto the weight. Then depression set in and it got worse. The depression is gone so I'm looking forward to getting back to my old self. I have my caloric intake set at 1800, but so far today I have only eaten 1079 and I even had pizza. When I started on this site about 8 mos ago I was eating really well, boneless chicken, spinach, brown rice, and for a snack I'd eat frozen peaches and strawberries with sugar free cool whip for a treat.

I was just thinking .. how did everyone here become overweight? Or were you always overweight from childhood? What about your parents, brothers and sisters?
I was always taller than my friend through school and I always felt bigger, but I wouldn't say I really gained weight until I got pregnant the first time. I had 2 babies and gained 60 pounds both times! My joke now is I have to lose my baby weight and my baby is 15!
Anyhow, I have yo-yo dieted for years - WW lost 50 pounds in 1995 - got divorced, met Mr. Wonderful gained more than I lost - WW in 2000 - lost 30 pounds got bored gained it back + again - 2003 counted calories under a dr guidance lost 35 pounds quit counting gained it back + again. In 2007, when the scale started getting closer to 300 pounds I decided that was it I wanted to be here for my grandbabies and to go old with my husband so I started changing things January 1 and have been doing well since then.
I am just joining you guys....start weight 212 goal weight 121!not totally motivated but getting there!!!!succes to everyone!
I was a chubby kid, lost weight in high school and kept it off until my first pregnancy - gained from 150 to 213 and lost to 175 before my 2nd pregnancy. Gained again - I think to around 220.
Lost some but never much after the 2nd one. Then slowly gained over the years to my top weight of 275. Took off around 20lbs a few years ago and kept that off but am struggling with more loss.
Before I got married I was 135-140, even 150 was in the range when I was doing a LOT ** of bicycle riding and had killer quads. but marriage, pregnancy, and a change of lifestyle did most of it to me. As a young adult I felt invincible on the bicycle but with small kids I felt very vulnerable - [actually the south can be a hostile place to bike riders and even before kids I had been run off the road several times, had fruit and beer cans launched at me etc] - so the biking came to an end --- still have the bike in the garage -- really nice bike too. We also have a nice custom tandem (I used to work at a bike shop) but don't want to put our combined fat asses on it until we loose some.
**I had no need for a car - the bike took me everywhere and it was nothing to hop on and go 20 mile for an errand, 60-70 for a day trip.
I was always chubby the maximum was 212 but 3 years ago I got on a diet, ate pretty healthy but no carbs....and from 212 I dropped down to 121 in 8 months!I was soooooooooo happy!never wore skinny jeans before never went to the beach before my entire life!but something totally threw me out of control and started eating bad again so in like 1,5 years I am back in the 200 area!I hate it and I cannot believe how great it was to loose so much and change my life.I want it back !I really do...but when you are an emotional eater it will always be a problem.I made myself a log where I decided to loose 4,4lbs in 10 days and the 10th day was measuring day!it was manageble and a huge emotional bust to see the pounds just melt like that.I want that feeling back!so anyone who needs a buddy I am here!good luck

I remember as a child going from the nickname "Miss Piggy" to "Skinny Minnie" but I wasn't fat, I was just a little chubby, more like baby fat that hung around. LOL! All the way up through High School I was skinny, I still remember when I got my first drivers license at 16 putting my weight as 105 lbs. with a height of 5'3". Boy, those were the days! I got pregnant at 17, gained about 12 pounds (didn't even show until I was 6 months), lost all but about 6 pounds. About 4 years later got pregnant again and gained exactly 20 pounds and still hadn't lost that 6 pounds from before. I lost all 20 pregnancy pounds plus 4 more (I was breastfeeding) but slowly over about 3 years I gained about 20 back. Then I got divorced, lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time & not in a healthy way. I was practically starving myself, eating only 1 meal late in the afternoon and drinking water to fill me the rest of the time. Then I met my husband now and he loves food! I gained all the weight back and a whole lot more! I also had a 3rd child and gained about 16 pounds from that pregnancy that never went away. And that's where I am today, the biggest I have ever been in my life.
My mother was 5'8 and never weighed more than 125 pounds, but she was sick a lot and on a lot of medication that kept her from gaining any weight, but she sure could eat a lot! My half brother is the same size now as he was in High school and his weight has never fluctuated & he graduated almost 20 years ago. WOW! My Dad has always been a normal weight. I have 2 half sisters that are very skinny, they both had babies last year and look amazing! One of them is skinnier than she was before she got pregnant! She has been breastfeeding for about 8 months now, that in itself is a great way to lose weight and provide a healthy nutritious meal for your baby! I have another half sister that introduced me to CC and she is losing a lot of weight using this site, she looks great! I am so jealous of her right now.
I am still struggling to get the weight off like I would like to. This week has been terrible, I feel tired and am not motivated to exercise at all. My DH who was once on board with me is slowing jumping ship & I am feeling all alone again. I am running out of ideas of what to eat that I like & have no motivation to exercise. I was even tempted to just go back to losing weight the way I did before, but I know it's not healthy. I think I just needed to get this off my chest, hopefully it will help me get back on track.
