I'm just wondering what happens if a person eat all junk food (eg, chocolates, biscuits, cookies, ice cream...etc, mainly foods high in carbs) in a day but keep within his calorific limit? Will that person gain weight on the long term??
I sometimes tend to binge on junk food (chocolate is my downfall!), but I always keep my calorific intake within my daily limit. Will I gain weight on the long term if I do that rather often?

I don't think so....suposedly a calorie is a calorie is a calorie. But your not doing your body any favors, when eating junk your not getting all of the fiber, nutrients and minerals that you should be. So if you only do it on special occasions (i.e. your birthday and a few holidays) I don't think you'll be too badly off.
They might lose weight but they'd feel terrible, as their body becomes depleted in nutrients and their bowels clog up because of too little fiber.
I am not sure how you can stay in your calorie intake and eat foods that are very high in calories. I could eat one meal from Wendys and it be 1000 calories. Mine is 1400 a day. There is no way I could eat all unhealthy food and not starve from not being able to eat 3 meals a day and a couple snacks and stay within my intake to loose weight. One hersey bar is around 300 calories thats breakfast right there. No way can you eat junk and loose weight effectively. Just my 2 cents! CC works for me I am down 10 pounds today since jan 13th. :)
I think the best strategy is to allow yourself a small piece of good high quality chocolate every day... an ounce or so. that can allow you to have your treats but still leave plenty of room for the healthy food your body does need to function properly.
You can't build strong muscles and such eating only junk, but that doesn't mean you have to deprive yourself... you can find a healthy balance that incorporates certain things into a healthy diet.

first of all, your basic assumption that junk food is basically carbs, is wrong. a lot of junk food is basically fats -- the bad kind of fats. and its processed and refined carbs, which destroys most of the nutrients and adds bunches of stuff that is not good for us, such as artificial colors and preservatives.
and you can eat good carbs all day -- fruits, vegetables, whole grains -- and have a very nutritious diet. In fact, you have to eat good carbs in order to have a nutritious diet.
so yes, you may lose weight, but you will not be healthy. In fact, you will be placing a reservation on heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, cancer, and a host of other illnesses and diseases. it won't be a matter of if, but when.

As stated avobe, junk food calories may = your daily goal, but are very, very unhealthy for you.

Probably not, but you will be tired and hungry because your body will not get the nutrients it needs AND you'd have to eat alot less junkfood for the same amount of calories.
