Currently, I work in marketing/pr. It's mostly an office job. I don't travel much. But I've been here two years (it's my first job out of college) and I'm looking to spread my wings and up for more challenges.

The only thing I don't like about this job is that I sit ALL DAY.
I'm a Systems Analyst.  Its a desk job, but I try and not use the phone or email and I get up to go see / talk to people when I need to.

I print on a printer a little further away, I ride my bike into work when the weather permits, take a 30 min walk at lunch time, and so on.

So while my job itself is sedentary, I try and make little changes to keep my body moving during the day.

Its not where you are, its what you do with your time while you are there.
and I think you are one of the first anorexic patry chefs I have ever heard of =)

I hope you are doing something about your ED.
haha, true. But at least you burn calories by typing! :]
I'm a law clerk.  Definitely a desk job.  I watch what I eat, cook healthy foods, practice yoga daily, and use up a lot of energy on the weekends.  It would definitely affect my weight if I let it, but I'm stubborn.  ;-)
I work in mortgage servicing, which means I deal with loans after they have closed.  So I sit at a desk all day, and work out of my email.  Oh, and my department loves to eat.  We order breakfast usually 3 times a week, and order out lunch at least 2 times a week.  Plus we have food days almost every 2 weeks it seems like.  All of this food has a lot to do with my weight gain over the past 4 years.  Of course it's my self control that got me there, so I'm working on it.  I never order with the group, and try and bring something healthy on food days.
I've heard that when working in the office people tend to weigh more, because alot of people bring in baked goods and stuff. Is that true for you guys?

I know it is for the place where my parents work, I bring in cakes, brownies, muffins and cupcakes allll the time :]
I'm in marketing, and I'm a full-time telecommuter. On the plus side, I have a highly flexible schedule, can make my own hours, and be home for my two teen daughters in the afternoons. I can also obviously goof-off a lot online. :-)

On the minus side, my job is even *more* sedentary than the typical desk job!! I have a pretty small house with no stairs, so I don't get much walking in doing normal day. I have to rely on purposeful exercise for that. Luckily, with my schedule, I can usually squeeze that in easily.
I'm a stay at home mom, no pay.  I just spend what's in our checking  lol.  I was formerly in R&D at Proctter and Gamble.
How many calories can you possibly burn by typing?  I'd like to see those statistics!

I am in the SEO (search engine optimization/search engine marketing - in simple terms, making websites rank higher in the search engines by optimizing them) field.  I sit ALL day, and since taking on this job my weigh loss has slowed down from losing 10-12 to only losing 7-8 max.  Really sitting around all day is not the best.  I do get in my exercise and walk a mile to and from the bus stop to my house.
I am an Air Traffic Controller... Massive amounts of stress and no lunch breaks.  We tend to send the new guys on "chow runs" to various fast food chains.  I think that is why I am in the condition that I am in now.  Lot's of fast food.  I would get more that my daily alloted calories at just lunch everyday.  I was active in High school, and then I entered the work force and stopped playing soccer and feild hockey.  I would also eat "comfort food"  I felt bad, happy, stressed, needed to be rewarded, depressed, rejected, you name it, and I would eat to feel better.  Now I walk or hit the gym.  I never thought I would like the gym, But on my one day off a wekk I really do miss it.  I have lost 20.6 pounds and counting!
lol, well I think if you type consisntly for 3 three hours its like 100 calories per hour? I saw it once on CC.
I am full time student, studying - Psychology (hons) BSc, just about to finish my 2nd year. I've also completed a Counselling Concepts course on top of my first year, next year i will also be doing a Counselling Skills course on top of my degree. Then after i graduate a diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

Sitting on my arse all day doesn't help... but i don't live and eat like the typical student luckily :)
Wow, congrats caryoln! :]
I work for a mortgage company.  This is my first office job--I used to work at a horse stable and waitress, so sitting all day has helped me gain 45-50 pounds in 4 years!
Yes, we definitely have a proliferation of baked goods around the office.  During weeks when the court is hearing arguments, it is an unwritten rule that that law clerks have to bring in some kind of treat.  We get cookies, cakes, muffins, pies, bagels, pretty much every combination of sugar, starch and fat that you can imagine.  I just try to stay away from it or have the smallest serving possible.
I work for an enrollment firm/insurance brokerage. I'm in adminsitration. This means that I'm on my butt for close to 9 hours a day. Meh, but it's nothing that an hour at the gym can't negate.
thank godness for the gym, eh? :]

So most of the people here work in business?
I'm a stay-at-home mom...but my babies are no longer babies (sniff).  I used to work as a teacher assistant and was fairly active running after 5 and 6 year olds for 6 hours a day.  I decided to give it up and I gained 20 lbs. within a year after that!  I guess I got a little bored.  Now I'm re-learning what a healthy portion is - and the difference between hunger and appetite. ugh
Thank goodness, indeed. =]

If I were without a gym, I would go lay brick for a living.
