All you Maintainers....whatcha doin' workout wise?

Hey guys...I feel that through all the food changes, we pretty much know what to eat....got the nutrition part down as per our body's needs.  So how are you keeping your shape?

Tonight, I'm running 7-8 miles (short run, actually...training!!!)  I do a ton of cardio....how 'bout you?

I'm going for short runs each morning before breakfast/work (just getting out for 20-30min).

I also go to the gym (20-30 min cardio and then 30 min abs and weights) usually 3 times a week and usually go for a couple of longer runs in the week as well.
I'm actually focusing more on weight-training rather than cardio (I've been doing less cardio that I normally would). I figure I'll do something that will let me burn more calories at rest! I also want sexy muscles to show off at the beach!
ooh, i feel so lazy-----i just go to curves x3, walk the dog x7, play the cello x7, do housework when i feel like it, weed the garden whenever, stuff like that.  no running, jogging, weight lifting.  never was very athletic, and don't plan to change at this late date!  but i'll be cheering all you marathoners!!!  loved your bike picture, neeners!
Ellin - all those things you do are still forms of "physical activity"!
Elin.....I LOVE the cello....go Yo Yo Ma.  I'd love to hear you play sometime.  I'm a pianist...we should duet sometime.  Where are you from?  Suppose I should revisit your profile.
well I was hoping to be running more than I am, just hard to get the time.  Im doing intense cardio 3x a week for 30mins, weights and abs 30mins 3x a week, walk 1 mile a day, trying to run at least 1.5 mile 3x a week with another 1.5 mile walk.

Im supposed to be running more than that :(
this morning my alarm went off at 6 for me to get up and go for a run, but then I got a GIANT cramp in my calf. It hurt to stand (still does a bit), so I didn't get out to run.

Oh well. I'm going to bike to work in a few minutes and then I think I'll go for a long bike ride after work.
Viczan....good for you that your ride to work.  I'm a bit too far...40 miles away.  Not that I couldn't ride the distance, but I'd have to get up and start at 5 a.m. to get to work by 7:30....plus, I wouldn't look all that hot and I have a job where I need to be decked out in business suits every day.  Oh well.

Tonight is an easy swim for me...I'm riding the MS 150 this weekend, so I don't need to do anything too hard tonight.
my work's not too far.. I either walk or ride my bike every day. It's a bit of a long walk, but nothing unbearable.

Well.. off to work I go. Have a good day, everyone!
hey guys...i'm in maintenance mode right now, and that's what i've been here for all along.  i lost a few more pounds using this site since march, and i've been maintaining for about a whole month now, and i recently decided that i would add in some weight training to really tone up.  i only started this monday, and i'm already up 2-3 pounds.  has any one else experienced this?  is it water weight?  should i expect an increase in my weight due to the weight training?  i just hate seeing the scale go up after all this time!  its making me not want to use weights.
What a great forum!  Just wanted to do a quick introduction.  My name is Mary and I have been maintaining my current weight of 130 for about 6 months now.  The one main goal I strive for everyday is to make fitness fit into my life.  I tried the whole gym thing but by the time I got four kids into the car, drove to the gym, dropped the kids in the nursery, worked out, got the kids back in the car and drove home - my 45 min workout was taking me 2 hours!  So, now I don't have a set routine - I just take any opportunities that I can find.  Yesterday I walked to my mom's house and back - 3.0 miles - pulling three of my four kids in a wagon - over 100lbs.  Now that was a workout :)

Can't wait to talk to you all some more.  When I get some free time I'll try to work on a profile!
wow! thats a long username!

Welcome to the site!  You are right about that being a workout!  I have 2 kids that I pull in a wagon for a mile and its an awesome workout!
jetsica....weight training will make the scale go up because of muscle building.  Remember, muscle is heavier than fat.  However, you just started, so I can't imagine that's what has caused the gain.   Make sure you drink plenty of water...especially during your workouts...it could be water weight.  Try increasing the water.  Don't give up the weights.  It's the best way to tone.
hey slappy!  I know my user name can be a mouthful :)  I use that name for all my computer "stuff" so I needed something with numbers that I could easily remember.  I figured the years of my kids births would be something that I could never forget!

I noticed from another thread that you are working on a running program.  How's it going?  I've tried to pick up running but I just can never stick with it.  Maybe you can be my motivation!

I'm going to try to work on that profile!

Mary
neeners is the motivator for running.  I havent ran as much as I wanted to.  I can do 1.5 miles but I should be running 3miles according to my chart Neeners did for me. its cooler today so Im going to see how far I can go.   I really want to accomplish it too!  Its hard to get those chances of getting the amount of time I need to run as much as I need to.  I stay at home but my kids are too small to stay alone or go with me and once hubby gets home, eat dinner its too dark to run where I live.  Thats when the wild life starts coming out! :)  if I had more time I know I would be at my goal.
I do 30 min cardio and 30min weights 6 days a week.  My goal weight was 115..but I fluctuate between that and 120 thru out the month, I try not to go over 120.  When I see that scale creeping up I beef up my cardio and get really carefull with what I eat.  For my cardio its usually either the stairmaster or elliptical, and occasionally I will run outside, especially now that its nicer out.  But I work out BEFORE work, so I usually get to the gym about 4:45-5am, and its just getting light, I'm a little freaked out to run on the trail by my house alone at that time of the morning.  But on the mornings that I wait 15 or so minutes till its really light out, its soooooo refreshing to be outside!!!!  For weights I alternate muscle groups , but since I'm only doing 30 min a day,I have to really maximize the short time that I have!  Maintainence can be just as hard as losing the weight!!!  But I'm loving the fact that I can see the muscle tone in my arms and legs now!
good job on your workouts.  how many cals do you eat a day?  Im just trying to figure out where I should be for maintaining.  I have a hard time getting to 1300 unless Im bad and eat at night!
I WISH I had a hardtime getting to 1300!  My problem is eating at night too....I try to stay around 1300, but it varies day to day, some are better than others.
I'm walking 5-7 days a week.  Really hard to take even one day off but I try.  I recently bought a heart rate monitor so I could get the most out of walking on the treadmill and outside.  I love it.  I'm hoping to add back my weight lifting and pilates in the next couple of weeks once I get the ok from my dr.
Ive been running for about 30 mins, every other day. The other days, I do toning. Somtimes, Ill take a sunday off. Its working out good so far!
