all natural peautbutter v. almond butter
Just wondering if one is better for you than the other, and which you prefer more?
I would hazzard a guess that almond butter is better for you - almonds are one of the best nuts there is, and are great for your heart/skin/hair amongst other things.
natural peanut butter is still wonderful though - I would eat both as they will have different nutritional benefits
Is one better for you that the other? No, not really. They both contain heart-healthy fats and protein. It's a matter of taste, I reckon.
I have this amazing organic choc chip PB that's my favourite at the moment. :x
In addition to the protein and healthy fats though, almonds are one of the best sources of vitamin E and magnesium, and a good source of fiber and phosphorous. potassium and iron.
When compared ounce for ounce, almonds are the nut highest in protein, fiber, calcium, riboflavin and niacin.
I tried to buy almond butter, the only place I could find it wanted like $14 for a jar. I decided that it can't be that much better for you than peanutbutter.
If you know somewhere that sells it cheaper though, do tell! I'd like to try it.
If you are trying to buy almond butter in the "organic" or "natural" section of your regular supermarket you are likely to find a huge markup for the convenience of having these fancy foods in the same place as the other stuff you want to buy. The last time I bought almond butter at Whole Foods it was 6.99. Still more expensive than a lot of peanut butters, but a lot more budget friendly than the 14 dollar jars.
I love all the nut butters that I've tried so far.
I'm now a huge fan of cashew and sunflower seed butter!! YUM!

I was given a sample of the sunflower butter, and I just tried it last week....SO GOOD!!!!! Do they sell it in average grocery stores? I haven't seen it.
I adore almond butter. I hardly ever have it being that it's prohibitively expensive. Occasionally our market will offer a discount on freshly ground almond butter, but other than that I'm out of luck!
Peanut butter is the cheapest, by far. We're talking $10 less per jar than almond butter. Crazy.
chocolate chip peanut butter?? where did u find this/what kind/AHHH I WANT IT
I shouldn't be doing this because this site is meant to be about resisting temptation but... http://www.ilovepeanutbutter.com/
Their dark chocolate dreamz peanut butter is... well... just be careful.
They also have white chocolate, maple, cinnamon raisin... I've seen it in Whole Foods and HEB, but you can also order online.
Ive never tried almond butter, but peanut butter just RULES!
Whole Earth Organic choc chip PB. It's in the UK though, don't know about the US x:

It was at the only wholefoods in my area, but I know of another one. I just haven't had time to get to it lately.

I don't know, that would be definitely something for me to look into. I get mine from bulk barn, which is this bulk food store across the border in Canada. Where abouts do you live?
danielle..I am in FL. The sample I received was from someone that got it on an airplane. I will have to see if I can buy it online. It was just "that good"!!
Edit: I just looked online. It is called Sun Butter. they tell you where you can buy it, and they have it at a grocery right near my house. This is very exciting news, indeed!!
