For all the runners out there!!

Quote  |  Reply

I had a epiphany running today and I thought I would share it.  I have been running for seven years now and have always thought about it as a means to lose or control my weight.  As any human being I would often find myself wishing I were thinner and could fit into size 0 designer jeans.  But I am proud of my runners legs, there may not be a big gap between my thighs when I stand but those quads can take me seven miles without fatiguing.  So for all the people out there who go out running wishing they were thinner, your are amazing and beautiful.  With every mile you run you are becoming stronger and faster.  So I guess my message is don't obsessor over being stick thin, you are an athlete and a runner.  Be proud of your endurance and ability to run circles around anyone who tells you that you are too big or not thin enough.  Just keep running :)

Your post is very inspirational!

i love this.  the more i run, the more i think about what my body can do rather than what it looks like.  i've been pretty inconsistent, so thanks for the reminder!!

Great post!  I feel more attractive when i am running than at any other time!

you just made my day...actually weekSmile

I am training for my 1st marathon now and also recovering from a knee injury the first week of training that put me out a month where I gained ten pounds from no cardio and all weight training, but I have been having the hardest time mentally getting over the injury weight gain...but now instead of focusing on the fact that I've only lost about 3 pounds of the injury weight you just reminded me of how proud I am to say that I can run 16miles (longest run to date!) and average 40-50 miles total a week...so THANK YOU! I needed that!

That's cause runners are HAWT :-)

i love this!

As an avid runner, I thank you so much for this post!

Keep on running!!

I am glad to hear that there are so many runners out there!!  I just finished walking 40 miles for Relay for Life and I am feeling pretty sore but amazing.  My legs did not fail on me for 12 hours, and i was even able to skip and dance a few laps (I think that was from the over tired adrenaline rush)!  This is probably one of my favorite running quotes:

"In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say 'I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that."

For all you runner, how do you log you miles?  I have the nike run but I'm not so sure how accurate it is, what do you use to track your milage??

Google maps pedometer

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

i have the nike plus too..but haven't used it in awhile because it was very inaccurate but I think I also need to re-calibrate it...for the time being i have been using the link wrm2105 posted, but I'm planning on investing in a garmin sportswatch so I don't have to pre-plan routes and can rely on the gps.

i use the path tool in google earth.  i like it because my trail system shows up; many sites show only roads.

I am running my first marathon in May and my goal is to finish without crying and without "having an accident" if you know what I mean and I think you do!

Congrats Eileen, that is awesome!!  What have you been doing for training?  I would really like to run a marathon in October, but I am not sure if I am ready yet.  This summer I am going to run a half and see how I do at that.  I have had a lot of injures to set me back so hopefully I will do well training this summer.  Good luck training, if you need some motivation feel free to contact me :)
