All shook up in the Midwest
Who at CC in the Midwest (specifically MO or IL) felt the quake early this morning, or the aftershock at about 10:15?
I didn't notice the early morning one, but the 10:15 was weird -I've never experienced that before.

It was wild....it woke me up at 5:30am....I thought I was dreaming....heard rummbling so I looked for thunder...went back to sleep.....then I heard the news!!!!
I felt both the 4:30 one and the 10:15 one. I work in the TFE building downtown St. Louis - and we all felt the aftershock (at 4.5 on the scale!) pretty good. Makes you wonder how much the building shook this morning (when it was 5.2).
I didn't notice the ~4:35 one this morning because I was in the shower - but it does explain why my cat was acting all freaked out at about 4:30.![]()
there was a biggish one in LA in '92 (?) and we felt it in vancouver. in the middle of the night, a photograph fell off my wall, and when i got up in the morning i discovered that one of the lightbulbs in the kitchen had shattered (and my stupid roommates didn't believe it was connected to the earthquake - they must have had some weird need to feel safe or something).

that's a weird place for a quake, no?
Not really: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqs ww/Quakes/us2008qza6.php#summary
There's a huge fault centered in New Madrid, MO that was the cause of an earthquake so powerful (long time ago) it changed the course of the Mississippi river. When it goes off again, we're being told it'll be another biggie.
do any of you remember the big scare of that one guy predicting the huge earthquake by the New Madrid Fault in the early 90's? My coworkers were just talking about that.
It woke me up -- but I didn't know what it was. I thought it was Miguel snoring since he has a cold and had taken Niquil. I told him to roll over and went back to sleep! Hahah!
I remember one from when I was about 5-6. I was in a field with my Dad and a cousin. I remember that one because we all lost balance and fell down. My Dad had been whistling, and he made a funny sound as he went down.
I didn't feel the 10:15 one though -- I was in a pretty tall building that sways a lot anyway, so I'm used to a little movement ;-)
Heather, were you in Indiana for the one when you were little? If so, it was probably the same one I remember. I was driving and had the radio on and the record skipped. The DJ came on and apologized and told us we had just had an earthquake. It was weird.
Yes I was, Mooni! And it was a doozy for me to remember it!

Yes! I grew up in STL, and I remember my elementary school made us practice all these drills, and save up all this water, and supplies... And nothing ever happened, and the guy was probably laughed out of the country. Lol! I hadn't thought about that in forever! I bet my school still has all those big drums of water sitting in the basement! (Ewww!)
I didn't feel it but other people did where I live. I wish I did feel it. I've never felt one before.

I was the same age when we had a quake, up in Montreal, don't remember it but my dad said he was having a nap and told me to quit shaking the bed lol.
Hello!
I live about 45 miles west of St. Louis. I felt both of them. The early morning one woke us up. Our bed was shaking and the windows were rattling. We live close to a train, so I thought "Man that train was goin fast!" *snoooore* haha we fell right back to sleep. Then when I got to work I found out it was an earthquake. I was floored. Then, when the second one happened, where was I? Yep, I was on the toilet. I thought I was imagining things, but I grabbed the handicap rail just in case, lol. Turns out it was another one! The whole thing has me freaked out, though. I forgot about the New Madrid Fault. No one ever talks about it, ya know? So weird. I'm just glad I haven't heard anything about anyone being injured or worse.
So, how many times have any of you heard "I feel the earth move under my feet", the original or any remake, on the radio today? (so far, I count 4...)
i am from mo..... and sort of close to it.... i slept right thu the first one and the second one i was so buzy i didnt feel it either...... i have a black lab and he went nutzo about a hour before the first one.... didnt know what his problem was.... and figured that is what is was.... second one he was outside and jumping on door, just thought he wanted in.... we had 2 tornados hit here in same year 5 months apart from each other and the lab went nuzo then to.... so we figured he knew something was happening.... wish i would have felt it, just to say i did.....
just glad no one was injured or big time destruction was done! had enough from the floods!!
