All of a sudden not hungry?!
Hey guys
I just want to ask a quick question to see if anyone else has experienced the same thing...
Basically, I've had anorexia for 4 years (am now 17), was in IP last year, gained weight, relapsed this year, and since summer have been back on track. I am now a kg away from my target weight (to give me a bmi of 18.5).
I've been eating 2500 calories at least most days, and I haven't done much exercise (I'm getting back into my routine now that I'm allowed!). At first, obviously I didn't feel hungry, but then as I got into a regular eating pattern I did. But this last week and half I have have NO appetite whatsoever. I feel full on the tiniest thing, and even when I wake up in the morning I still feel stuffed. Why is this?! Is it because I'm at a healthier weight and my body doesn't need so much food?
I thought the more you ate the hungrier you were supposed to get. Perhaps not...
Any advice much appreciated :)
Thanks

Reason: Moved from Weight Gain to Health and Support.
Appetite comes and goes for all kinds of reasons.... You're probably just going through a not-so-hungry phase. It's great that you've gained to where you are now but if your BMI is still sub 18.5 then you can't afford to slacken off the pace. (BMI 20 is where most people need to get to to be 'safe') Drink plenty of fluids so that your digestion can process your food better and keep up with regular meals and plenty of snacks. Well done so far and good luck.
basically you need to eat, doesnt matter if youre not hungry, think youre full, think you had too much, ate a lot the previously day, no one else is eating, dont like it...
youre underweight, youre unhealthy, youre destroying your mind+body--
mechanical eating involves following a schedule of eating, regardless of how you are feeling, what you are thinking, or what you are doing.this means eating breakfast shortly after getting up in the morning, lunch around noontime, and dinner in the early evening. you may schedule snacks, if you prefer to have smaller meals and to eat more frequently. snacks should be eaten mid-morning, mid,-afternoon, and before bedtime. after your body adapts to this amount of food you might find that you become hungry for the next snack or meal.once your healthy-weight is restored you can go back to normalized eating and listening to your hunger signals as they should be more in tune.
this has happened to me, but i muster it up and eat anyway. i went through a period of not eating enough.. not so much anorexic, but anorexic tendencies.. and then i would binge and purge. now that i'm getting back on track, i have days where i am starving and days where i am not hungry whatsoever. the best thing to do..well that has worked for me.. is to gradually eat more, and eat at a somewhat designated time each day (7am breakfast, 10am snack, 12pm lunch, etc.etc.) and trust me, your appetite WILL come back. maybe your metabolism might need a little boost. i am not an expert, but its just a suggestion from my past experience.
This has happened to me plenty! (And I have a BMI of 27.)
It's possible that it's psychological, or you could just not be that hungry. I have had plenty of weeks here and there where I just haven't been in the mood for big meals or a whole lot of food. And that's fine; as far as I know, there isn't anything wrong! But whatever the reason, it's still important to eat. Even if you eat a bit less, you should still be eating around about the same amount as you would.
Well done on keeping with your weight gain. Keep going!
I just want to say congrats, on your accomplishments. I'm sure that was a tough road to travel. Like GI-Jane said its probably just a little phase your going through. ![]()
