All this talk about peanut butter...

OK I love peanut butter. An I'm an organic girl at heart.. I probably eat a serving of it a day, as a vegetarian i justify this saying its for protein! Haha..

ANYWAYS I was wondering.. what brand of peanut butter do you like?

Currently I have the central market all natural crunchy peanut butter... I just wish there was a REDUCED FAT organic brand! Does anyone think I should just ditch the organic and go for the reduced fat peterpan?

I eat Simply Jiff.  I love it and I don't like a load of pb on my toast or bread....so if I use a tablespoon and a half that is enough for me.  I bought some Natural stuff but haven't used it yet...So far I have stuck with my Jiff..
i often eat it plain...or fruit or sandwiches

I like the extra creamy Kraft peanut butter, but would prefer a reduced fat version as well.  Once all my Kraft is gone, I think I'm going to try another kind.

I say switch to a reduced fat peanut butter.
i'm an organic girl as well! so when it comes to pb, i make my own. buy dry-roasted peanuts, then toss them in a food processor and pulse until they reach a creamy consistency. (if you like chunky, hand-chop a few peanuts and mix them in). store in the fridge, and it will keep for about 2 weeks. no sugar, salt, or additives - and lower in calories.

bon appetit :)
whoa very interesting, health nut. Do you know how many calories are in a serving of 2 tablespoons?

i like Jif, plain and with crunchy peanuts. i eat it by the spoonful sometimes =) im not sure how good that is for you but i love it!
I buy Naturally More... Really tasty and pretty healthy as peanut butter goes... It's got egg whites in it though so I don't guess you veggies would go for it...
The standard cals for 1 tbsp peanut butter is 90.

I'm going by kraft smooth reduced sodium, kraft crunchy, and organic sodium free.

From what I've seen it's gen. a range between 90-100. So for 2 tbsps you're looking at 180-200 cals.

I love peanut butter but for some reason I don't like too much of it on my toast. I use it more like one would use butter, which is amazing b.c. it means I only use 1 tsp per slice and am totally satisfied.
I use Smuckers Natural Creamy peanut butter with honey mixed in. I love the honey because it gives is some sweetness that the Smuckers Natural Creamy doesn't have.
I like Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter or the grocery store brand organic natural version.  Reduced-fat peanut butters are oilier, I think.  I prefer the natural organic :)
Im hooked on PB2 from now on (the powdered peanutbutter)....just such a huge difference in terms of calories.

I buy the natural peanut butter, they grind it up just from peanuts, that's all and I love it!
i'm with Lori...the PB2 is great!  It's like 1/3 the calories of regular peanut butter, and delicious!   (they even send me an extra 4 jars of it by mistake...so mine were only like $2 a jar  hehe)

I'll be honest, people look at me wierd when i use it...but who cares?  I like knowing something that others don't  :)
I love PB2 !!!
what.... is PB2?
It is roasted peanuts that are pressed to remove the fat etc.  It comes in a powder form and you mix with water.  I know - sounds nasty.  But it tastes just like peanut butter and has a nice texture.  I ordered it on-line.  It has 54 calories per 2 tbsps compared to 190 in regular peanut butter.
My local natural food store has a peanut grinding machine that grinds it into peanut butter.  No fat or anything silly added.  And it is my favorite peanut butter of all time!
curious - my brand varies (usually the 365 Whole Foods brand) but I always buy natural peanut butter, no salt.  (Ingredients = peanuts and that's it).  You can lower fat/calories by pouring off the oil on top of the PB when you first open the jar instead of mixing it back in, but I'm not sure by how much.  I do this with every jar I buy.  The PB usually stays very spread-able, but if I have a problem I nuke it in the microwave for a few seconds and it spreads great.
Actually, about the pb2.. that's really not right.  It's 54 calories for 2 tbls of the Powder only! Once you add the tablespoon of water it mixes into approximately 1 tbls of pb... so you would need to double this if you want the portion size to look like 2 tbls of regular pb... so that would be 108 calories.. which is still less than 190 and does have a lot less fat...

But, I found, having to mix it all up everytime was a major pain.. and I didn't think the taste or difference in CALS made up for the time consuming tedious process.  I tried to rush this and make a whole jar... mistake! It dawned on me that there is no preservatives.. so it got all moldy.. yuk.

I like the H.E.B. store brand, crunchy or creamy.. 190 cals/2tbls.  It has less sodium and fat than Reduced Fat Jiffy!!! :o
yeah I dont really want to mix it up...

Star- when you pour out the oil how many calories do you cut?
