A lot of things in cartons aren't healthy. Did yours have a lot of added salt? Fresh egg-whites get an A- but they are pretty limited nutritionally. OK, no fat, sugar or salt but..... no fibre, no vitamins, no iron, no nothing else either.
it had 285mg of 3/4 of a cup. 3g of carbs & 18g of protein [again, for 3/4 cup].
That's weird. I use egg whites almost daily for protein, but my tag doesn't have a grade. I'm pretty sure it's NOT supposed to be a D! I also get a D if I input generic albacore tuna, go figure.
Try http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-better n-eggs-allwhites-i100772 and adjusting the grams to your intake.
I think you're "cracked" (bad pun), but there are no egg or egg substitutes that get a D on this site. What brand was it?
Are you eating Better'n Eggs: All Whites?? Because if you are (like I do) they are simply: 100% Liquid Egg Whites and that's it! And in a 1/4 cup there is only 90 mg of sodium...and 30 calories... Not sure how that would be a D+... I'd ignore the grade!!
Egg whites are extremely healthy and full of protein. They are especially awesome when one needs protein and not extra calories. I don't care what grade this site gives it, egg whites rock! I think I've eaten 12 already today. Good stuff!
