How many calories do you eat per day?

Im trying to figure out a good number of calories for myself. I have been on 2000 calories a day while exercising 4 days a week. SO far after a month I have gained 1 lb.

How many cals do you eat and how often do you exercise?

Thanks,

Kristine

My target for calories per day is 1350, but I average 1100-1350 typically.  I don't exercise much, yet though, so ymmv.  I started at 236 pounds and have lost 4 so far (water weight, I'm sure), but it seems to be enough for for me and I feel good.  I'm trying to eat more vegetables that I like that are bulky and that seems to help me feel full on 1350.

I don't think that 1350 (and ESPECIALLY 1100) is the ideal number for a woman weighing 235. I started at 150 and went down to 124 eating 1600 a day (and exercising four-five times a week).

I'd maybe cut back to 1800 and see if that helps, but I don't think you need to cut as low as 1350.

I started (this time) at 258lbs.  CC said I should eat 1550/day.  I usually average 1450-1500.. sometimes I go up to 1750.   I walk 30 minutes/day on my treadmill (5 days a week).

In 3 weeks I lost 11lbs (I'm 247) and tomorrow I'll see if I've lost more!

edit: I listed myself sedendary as I have a desk job.

I started at 235 (pre-CC by a couple weeks) and aim for 1800, I usually average 1900.  I don't exercise.

I am at 248 and have been averaging 2000 cals per day for the last couple of months, and its going very well, though loss has been erratic (some weeks I lose nothing or gain a pound, some weeks I lose up to 4 lbs) that I can only blame on water retention, because my calories and macronutrient balances are much the same week-to-week. My loss averages out to one pound per week. I exercise for 40 minutes per day, 20 in the morning and 20 in the evening (I bike to work) and it's usually 4 times per week. I don't do much other exercise unless you count the matress mambo.

My calorie goal is officially 1850 per day, I try to keep it no more than 1950, but in analyzing actual intake, it's averaging 2000 and that seems to be working just fine (a one pound per week loss is slow but consistent and my skin is not sagging at all, so I am content).

I average 1800 calories and exercise anywhere from 3 to 5 days a week....

I started in July at 289 and put myself at 1400 calories a day.  I still do about 1400 a day maybe a few under or over but nothing to stress about.  I lost 30 pounds in three months doing it that way.

wow, seems like there are many women eating about what i eat. I think i may keep it between 1800-2000 but push myself to exercise more. Say 30-40 minutes everyday.

Website told me to eat 1500. So I eat between 1350-1500... sometimes less just because I'm super full (1250ish).

*bump*

I have been seeing a Gastric bypass surgeon, a nutritionist, and a trainer.  They've all basically told me the same thing....  To stay around 1500 calories per day.  However, I'm having a little bit of a tough time with that as I am eating the Weight Watchers, and Lean Cuisines alot, with the slim fast snacks, and those 100 calorie snack packs.   I tend to hit around 1300 or so a day.

I've been working out the last 4 days ( I just joined a gym), and i've spent 1.5 hours in the gym each night.  I work on upper body and abs one night, with 30 minutes of strong cardio.  And then I alternate the next night with lower body and abs, with another 30 minutes of cardio.    Prior to the gym, I did Tae Bo in my living room, and I have a video that had me power walk a mile in 20 minutes which i was doing every morning.

I also go to a weight loss clinic and have a lipotropic injection every Tuesday to clean out my liver, and they give me an appetite suppresant called Bontril.  So far so good!  I added 1000mcg of B12 vitamins per day, plus 2000mg of l-carnitine per day for muscle tone.   I also take a water pill after eating each meal as I've been told women tend to hold enough water in the body for 2 people!  In order for us to lose the mid-section, we have to get that water off of our stomach first.

All that said, I started at 267 Sept 1, and as of October 10, I am down to 255.  it's coming off just nicely.. not  fast.. not too slow.  At the same time, I'm building muscle mass that will help me cut the weight even quicker while tightening my skin after losing weight.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at crayonzrock27@aol.com.  Me and several girls in my office are on the same program, and it seems to be working out alright for them (they don't really exercise), and it's working great for me I think!

a healthy loss is 1 to 2 pounds a week.....according to doctors not me....

I'm down to 215 lbs (from 284 lbs on Feb 1st).  Am eating approx. 1400-1500 calories on average and am losing about one pound a week. (Am fairly sedentary at the moment)

On May 1 2008 I was 235 pounds.  On the advice of my doctor and this site I made my calorie goal 1500-1600 (no set exercise routine).  As of today I am down to 210.2 pounds.  I took a month off of calorie counting due to stress (held steady, didn't gain).

Hi, I use to be 260+. I say plus because I know I was more but was tooooo afraid to look when I was at my heaviest. I have been dieting for a long time but this year in I believe May, I started to take things seriously. I first tried all  kinds of crazy diets, like Atkins, and it helped me to get to 250, then I found this site and the tools that it has have helped me to figure out how many calories to eat. I think that it was around 2500 at first. It now says for me to be at 1600. I am not always on target. Some days I go above and some days below but I always average around that. It got me down to 235. I exercised.--walk, try to run, and go to the gym.

However, this past month, I have been really bad. It's that thing called life that gets in the way. Stress, parties, sabotage, etc.

So, I really haven't been dieting or exercising but I haven't really gained all the weight back but maybe a few pounds. Because this website teaches you to be aware of what you eat and helps you to learn portion sizes.

I wouldn't go to much below what the site says to eat. I would stay around the number they give you. Don't worry if one day you go way over just get back on track the next meal. Remember no body's perfect. You are only human.

Good luck and always believe in yourself!!! You can do it!!! It sounds like you are off to a awesome start!!! Good luck!!!

My endocrinologist would prefer I stick to a 1200 cal plan, however I find somewhere between that and 1350 works better for me.  As I said in my previous post, I am not exercising much (read 12 minutes of stretching a day) and everyone's mileage will vary.
