Alli Anyone?

Quote  |  Reply
Has anyone tried Alli yet?  I bought my starter kit this weekend but haven't started taking the pills yet.  I think I will start on Friday dinner like the paperwork suggests.

I know these pills are not going to make me loose weight.  I know that I still have to eat right and work out for weight loss.  What they will do is keep me from cheating and bingeing, which I have a tendancy to do.

So has anyone else taken Alli?  And if so how is it going?  Have you suffered any of the side effects?

I have a weight loss specialist (not the same as a nutritionist) and I plan on asking her about Alli when I see her next (in two weeks); if you're willing to wait that long, I can tell you what she says.
Thanks but I think I'll take my chances.  But I would be interested in what she has to say.
I started my low fat diet today in anticipation of starting the pills on friday.

Their website has some tools and a forum for support, but, it is quite slow, and not as user friendly as C-C's

Any chances of forming a group here to support each other?
Hey lets see if there are more people besides us.  If there is I think a group would be good.  If its just us we could probably use pm or e-mail each other.

: D
Anyone else interested in participating with us?
i would be :-)

Sure. I started alli about 2 weeks ago.
I am also taking it.  Every little bit of help counts.  I like it much better than the prescription one (twice the dose).
Kay and Scalebeater, can you share with us your experience thus far?  Do you have any tips for those of us who will be taking our first pill this weekend?

Also, have you been participating at the myalli.com website?  I have found it frustratingly slow and not as user friendly as this site.  Have I missed any features that you really like there that I might have missed?

It doesn't look like we have any more takers for a support group, so, what can we do to support one another?

A couple of suggestions are:

Coordinate "check ins" with each other via e-mail.
Get together for a little chat on Skype at an appointed time.

Any other suggestions or would anyone be interested in one or both of these?

Em

I have been doing it for about two and a half weeks and the one thing that I have been finding is that it helps me regulate and think about what I eat a lot more than I used to.  The one day that I took it and didn't eat a very low fat meal was the one day where I ended up having very minor--but still inconvenient--side effects.  Pounds aren't FALLING off, but I am still seeing results.  A support group though would be great.
jkd,

Thanks so much for that feedback.  It is helpful to know that this is helping you to focus and be more mindful of your eating and that you are seeing results.

Since you have a 2 and a half weeks of experience under your belt, do you have any suggestions about how we can be supportive of each other?

I'm not trying to frighten anyone but the pressing side effect I've seen pop up on medical websites is regarding the fact that the pill can make you have "accidents" uncontrollably (even number 2!!!!!). Sites I've checked suggested bringing an extra set of clothes with you to work. I'm no doctor so I don't know if it is common or not, the pill is still new. I'm currently exploring other options such as apple cider vinegar supplements. Please be careful everyone!
Eden... those were the side effects I was scared of!! I was debating about alli.... I might be interested in a support group if I did start it... but I'm still not sure.
i wrote in the other few posts about alli...

but i hated this product. not once did i get any 'treatment effects'....wait, i lied.. just once and i thought it was kinda cool cuz i really wanted to see what that 'pizza oil' would look like.......but this was totally controllable and it wasnt like i popped my pants on the spot. i was at work and felt like i had to go but i couldnt until a few hours later.. i was able control it.

after the second week, i weighed myself and i was up like 6 pounds. i realized i was constipated. everything was staying in and not coming out.. so i stopped taking it and the scale went down.
Oh my gosh, "pizza oil" ? Is that like an oil on the face?
what is alli?
the "pizza oil" that comes out looks just like that.......pizza oil! lol.
i kinda had to look cuz i was curious... but it looked like orange circles floating in water...=/
