Alli.......????

Quote  |  Reply

Hello all,

so i recently found out about Alli, which is an over the counter product for weight loss. I decided to research on it as i was considering it as an option to aid me in my weight loss.

I found out that it works by preventing your body from absorbing about a quarter of the fat you eat. This may cause you to have a lot of gas and use the bathroom frequently as well.

It says on the websiite that Alli is not a quick fix and should only be combined with healthy eating habits and exercise.

All, in all it sounds quit legit to me. However, i reallly do want to lose weight in a healthy, slow manner. And i am unsure as to whether to add Alli to my weight loss strategy, inaddition to my exercise routine and new eating habits.............

I think it is a waste of money, to be honest. Simply eat less fat rather than depending on a pill to prevent a 1/4 of fat absorption. If you are still adamant on using this product, I definitely would be careful with fatty foods since I hear it, uh... gives you explosive loose stools. I'd rather just stick with eating right and exercise, thanks.

Hello,

I was given this product by my doctor about 6 years ago, before it was available to buy over the counter.

All I can say is that despite being desperate to lose weight myself, I personally wouldn't ever take this product again!! Even if it was free.

The side effects were horrific, even though I followed a strict low fat diet. Yes I lost weight, but I don't know how much of that was due to the product and how much was down to the low fat diet I was on and the exercise I did.

My quality of life suffered because I always had to keep in mind where the nearest toilet was and even then I had a few close calls!!

It's also worth bearing in mind that all the weight I did lose I subsequently put back on as soon as I stopped taking it, plus some. The only thing that has worked for me at all after years of fad diets, pills and potions is this website and basic calorie counting.

If you always remember that you need to burn more calories than you consume to lose weight then in theory it's easy. Sure, we all have those days when the cravings mean we blow it, but that's one day. Just get back on the next day and don't beat yourself up.

Personally I couldn't recommend it especially as it's so expensive, but that's just my opinion based on my experience. I hope my post helps you decide. :o)

Best of luck with the weight loss, whatever you decide.

Search the forums for Alli, there are already threads on this...

Alli causes severe diahrrea if you don't pay attention to what you eat.  Skip it.

I started using Alli about 3 months ago.  I started using it because I felt I needed a bittle boost.  I am combining it with exercise and calorie counting.  I've lost about 10 pounds. You do have to be careful about what you eat, but I haven't really had too many problems.  For me, I see a couple of good points. One, it encourages you to make good, lower fat choices.  The other thing is that it lets you know if you don't.  For example, right after I started taking it, I went to eat in a restaurant.  I chose a meal which I thought would be good (baked fish).  I very carefully didn't eat the salad dressing, etc.  I still had some treatment effects.  What that made me realize is that even when you make what you believe to be good choices, you can be fooled, since you usully don't know how food is prepared unless you prepare it.  I have come to the conclusion that most restaurant food, even food that seems to be healthy, had more fat in it than I had imagined.  It's probably a good idea to skip that dose of Alli.if you want to eat out or if you are in another situation in which you can't control how food is prepared,

All in all, I think it helps a little, although you could probably accomplish the same thing with diet and exercise.

DO THE WORDS ANAL SEEPAGE MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU?

Do it on your own. You'll feel a lot better about it in the end.

In the end......get it?
