I've been on Alli for a little over a month and lost 22 pounds. I started at 301 and now am down to 279. Low-fat, low cal diet and a lot of exercize as well has helped. Anyone else out there with similar results?

Ive been on it for three weeks and have lost 6 pounds along with diet and exercise! Not much, but I also started only a little overweight (at 166- Im 5'8") so I lose less cause theres less to lose! I love it, and no, I havent had the runs or oil spots. Just STICK TO THE DAMN DIET and that stuff wont happen people!!!!!
I agree. I have been on it for about a month and have had zero treatment effects. If you follow the diet, it seems to really work! Good job on the six pounds!

OMG I heard about those "treatment effects" and it seems like an amazing little pill except for the treatment effects you get.

If you follow the the diet, do you really need the pill?
Thanks cozonie :)

And no, I suppose not shutle64, but the way I figure it.. I'm already doing my part and following the diet, so why not be rewarded by a bonus of losing EXTRA weight? Its like 5 pounds given to me as a freebie! I think its pretty friggin sweet! Plus I DONT want those 'treatment effects', so it helps me not cheat. EVER!! No food is delicious enough to justify having the runs for a day, am I right?? lol
I think diet pills are pointless and wasteful, even if the FDA has approved it. It's also been proven that people who are on any type of diet pill or fat burner are twice as motivated and likely to work out, which is probably why they end up losing more as opposed to people who are not taking diet pills.

I believe that if you eat right and exercise, you'll lose just as much as though you were taking the pills. Personally, I don't believe the miracle is in the pill, it's in YOU.

This is just my opinion. If you all seem to think it works for you, then hey, go for it, and keep on keepin' on! Good luck.

I started using Alli on June 21 and have lost 40 pounds.
Congrats everyone - sounds like you've had great success on it. I toyed with the idea but wasn't quite ready to spend the money and take the plunge. I might @ somepoint.

I think many of us have felt hopeless and frustrated so if there is a pill out there that can help you get over a hump then go for it. Especially if your careful and its healthy!!!
Ihilani,

I agree.  I don't mess with any type of weight loss pills.  Since I was a young girl I have always had this concern with cancer.  Rather odd because there was NO cancer in my family.  But for some odd reason I was always being cautious and watched out for all the additives in food, trying to avoid toxins in my body. I would avoid tanning as well.  And once  married, the same for birth control/hormone pills.  I avoided that too. ( Guess I didn't need them anyway, as children were not to be part of my journey here on earth. )

Now fast forward 20 years............Recently I've lost several members of my IMMEDIATE FAMILY TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT FORMS OF CANCER!  My family is just bewildered that cancer came out of nowhere, and with such a vengeance.

Looking back now, I feel truly blessed, and that I was being watched over......that these impressions on me to be cautious were to protect me.  Be careful people.  Protect yourself.  It might make a big difference 20 years down the road.
Yeah I have no cancer in my family, but then around 5 years ago my dad started feeling really sick. 7 months later he was dead from pancreatic cancer :-( I was only 15
Nerfertiti- so so sorry...

FYI- to the post before Nerfertiti- they have found that being on the pill for longer than six months actually REDUCES your risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer.  This is proven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, I heard about that too on the news! Yay, Im fighting pounds AND cancer! Talk about a win-win!!
You know, I believe the pill works if you really work the program.

That being said, worst case scenario is the pill doesn't do anything. (not very likely with FDA approval and all.) I believe the mind can do fantastic things and if all it is doing is giving me more confidence I can lose the weight than it is worth the money.

Anyway, sorry about your father, Nefertiti. I can't imagine what it's like to lose a parent that young.
Actually... the long term effects of the pill are sketchy on the prevention of 'female' cancers because it is an artificial hormone that prevents ovulation... they aren't certain if it is as good as the natural way to get that cancer prevention.

The really good prevention for female cancers is found in breastfeeding.  If you will breastfeed for 2 years of your life during your fertile years, you reduce your chances of female cancers by 1/3, regardless of family history.  If you breastfeed 7 years of your life, the chances of breast cancer become .00017%.

If you never get a chance to breastfeed, the pill is a decent second choice to try to do something, as long as you are willing to take the risk of the potential abortifacient method.  I  have a friend with Huntington's Disease who knows she will probably die around 30.  She's 21 and has chosen to never marry or have kids.  We talked about this as a good way for her to prevent female cancers.

Just an fyi for anybody thinking about nursing a baby... it's good for him/her AND you!
I've read a little about this pill but I still have questions..

Is it safe to take on a 1200 calorie diet?  I'm only 5' so this is my recommended daily intake.  Does the pill actually block caloric intake, which would possibly send my body "starvation" signals?
Okay, this is what I don't get.... One, you have to follow a low-fat diet while on Alli... So, if you just follow the diet, you'll lose weight. So why spend all that money on the pill. Two, if it does help you lose a little extra, doesn't  it do so by blocking fat and/or calories? So, when you stop taking Alli, your body is going to cling on to the fat and calories that it once was being denied. So, when you start gaining again, you'll by more pills, because your thinking "wow!! Alli really does work, I can't do this without it!!" That's how they make their money. And I'm sure thats why the FDA approved it.

I have a little grudge against the FDA. Some years ago, an MS (multiple sclerosis) researcher found a way of treating some horrible symptoms of MS. It was a patch. The FDA denied approval of the patch, and the only reason was that they felt they couldn't make any money off of it.  My father could have greatly benefited from this patch.

I dont trust the FDA!!!
1) It is safe to use on a 1200 calorie diet. When you begin, you enter your stats on their webpage (weight, height, etc.). It then recommends a diet based upon what you need. You may be 1200 calories or you may be more.

2) The idea is that it will help you lose more weight faster. So for example if you would have lost ten pounds through exercize and diet alone instead you would lose 15. They don't make any claims that it is a miracle pill of any kind. But I can say that you will lose weight fast. Since July 4th I have lost 23 pounds, from 301 down to 278.
it is an artificial hormone that prevents ovulation...

What's this about?
i went to my dr. the other day and talked to him about my weight and the difficult time i am having losing anything, he told me i was the perfect canedate for alli, im not sure what he means by that but maybe because it has been hard for me and that my cholesterol is 492 dont know but im giving my diet and workouts and this site till the end of the month then maybe ill go to alli
Back to Alli, I also have a question.

If I have a breakfast of shredded wheat and non fat milk, do I still take Alli before breakfast, even if I am eating little fat?    Do you take it every day, or just when you go a little over your 15 grams per meal?
