Hello Everyone!

So I have read a couple old forums about the Alli weight loss pill because im thinking of taking it. I was just wondering if there was anyone with any stories (both good and bad) about the pill. Has it worked for you, how much weight did you lose, and how long did it take?

Thanks!

Please, don't do it.  I took it for a week and ended up in the emergency room with bleeding, horrible pain & nausea.  ALI caused so much irritation in my colon that it allowed an infection to start that I battled for weeks.  Forget the magic pills....be safe, count calories, energize your life with exercize, and build a lifestyle.

I took it for a couple of months.  I don't know how much it really helped - all it does is make you poop some excess fat, which means you have really greasy, unpredictable leakage.  Pretty disgusting, and doesn't really help that much.

Anal Leakage.  That's all I have to say.

Fat in your diet is not the enemy! You're body needs fat in order to absorb the vitamins and minerals from your diet!

IMO this is a very bad way to lose weight and has much more significant negative health side effects than are currently known.

I definetely would not use it as my only attempt at weightloss, unless you change your diet to a lowfat one, the results can be ugly!

My sister cringed when I told her that I had bought Alli, she had tried the perscription strength version, and didn't read the instructions first. OMG!

Personally, I have had the same bottle for almost a year now. I eat a low fat diet, and I exercise daily to lose weight. I use Alli for those meals that I truly have no control over, like going out to a friends place for a fish fry( deep fried fish, homemade Fries and coleslaw on the menu, yummy, but not a single healthy option ;o) I don't experience the nastiness that everyone talks about, but I guess it's because I only use it once or twice a month and nothing has time to "build up"

Honestly, it probably hasn't contributed much to my actual weightloss, but it has made it so that I can enjoy the occasional indulgence and not feel guilty about it.

I plan on using it next week. I did my research and it seems like the people who don't follow the directions (aka not counting fat grams and thinking the pill is going to do all the work) are the ones who get the bowel issues. The people who use it correctly seem to have success, not the 'omg, I lost 20 pounds in 20 days' but 'hey, I was losing only a pound per week but now I'm losing 1.5 pounds per week.'

I feel like I am responsible and I also have a calorie counting program in my phone that I can use to keep track of fat grams. I'll keep everyone updated.

I was eating a low fat diet at the time, and I still had a bit of trouble.  And yes, DEFINITELY noticed if I ate something high fat.  The other problem was that I have chronic constipation - and it really wasn't a good mixture.  I need a bit more fat in my diet to "function" well.

But, that was the only side effect I experienced, so it won't hurt you to try it.

That's what I don't get. If you're restricting your fat (and by doing that also restricting your calories) isn't that the reason you'd lose weight on it? Not because it's "blocking fat" but because you're getting a lot less than you were anyway. I tried to explain that to my cousin who's taking it but she won't take credit for her own weight loss anymore than she took credit for her weight gain.

I used them for about 6 weeks. No problems until one day..... only once... leakage... I thought I was eating healthy for lunch (steamed veggies and chicken from the chinese restaurant with NO SAUCE) Little did I know.

It was gross and I have never ever touched them again.

It blocks out the fat you do eat (50 grams)

Which may not be a lot, but it slightly helps, and some people need a push.

It doesn't make sense to me either. If you have to eat a low fat diet when taking alli then why do you want to block more fat? Fat is good and necessary for survival. I added more fats and fish oil to my diet and my hair and nails have never been healthier. Plus, anal leakage? eww who wants to risk that!?
