A brief introduction...
I'm a 20 year old female, I've struggled with several eating disorders as well as depression and anxiety issues. I was placed on medication at age 13 and made the decision to discontinue my meds a few months ago. I'm dealing with all the highs and lows and emotions that I've put aside while also trying to lose weight, be healthier, and feel better about myself. I've gone back and forth with caloriecount in the past but I'm hoping to stick with it this time.
I'm a college student, about to start nursing school in the spring. In my free time I volunteer with local animal rescue/welfare groups. And I'm horrible at introductions. :p
Hi,
I'm so happy to meet you. I stop taking my depression meds too, about six months ago, but keep my anxiety meds handy and take them only as needed. My depression started in my mids 20s but look like you had an early start. Is not easy dealling with depression. In my case, Im a clown, and always try to make other people happy, and hide behind jokes about my self, I constantly make jokes about my age, my weight and other things that I really do not like to talk about, but still I bring them up all the time.
I'm proud that you are starting a nursing program. Once you have put your life in place you will be able to help so many patients because you will understand where they are coming from. About over a year ago, I started school again, I had never started, and I am finishing my AA in two areas, Business and Psychology. I wanted to make sure where I wanted to continue my studies, and have decided that will continue in Pscychology - all the way to the Master's program if possible.
My daughter is 20 years old, and her and I have a very open and deep relationship - she goes through a lot and I try to be there for her. I want to be a good mom and a good friend too.
Being positive all the time does not come easy for people with depression, but is important to find things you are proud about and start substituting bad and negative feelings for good and positive ones. We should beat depression. I'm very happy we have met!
