Recipe Ingredients for Almond Thumbprint Cookies

1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3 1/2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons canola oil
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Recipe Directions for Almond Thumbprint Cookies

  1. Mix all dry ingredients except sugar in a small bowl.

  2. In a separate bowl, blend the butter, oil, corn syrup, sugar, egg, vanilla and almond extract.

  3. Stir flour mixture into the blended mixture just until combined.

  4. Pull off pieces of dough and roll between your palms to make 3/4" balls. Use your thumb or the tip of a finger to make a depression in the top of each cookie. Put one chocolate chip in each depression (optional, not included in the calorie count). Bake at 375 for about 9 minutes.
