How many almonds should I eat per day?
Asked by mlenormand on Oct 21, 2009 in Nutrition

I know we should eat almonds because they are a healthy food, but they are very high in calories.

Answer

In research studies, the health benefits of almonds are usually derived by eating one ounce a day.  One ounce is 20-25 almonds or about one handful.   Almonds are loaded with vitamin E, monounsaturated fat, magnesium, phosphorous, calcium, zinc, folic acid, and fiber.  Those nutrients have been associated with preventing heart disease, high blood pressure, some cancers, and osteoporosis.
