almost 25 yo working mother of 2 needs support? Please!

Hello all!

I just stumbled up this site in my desperate search for a diet support and weight loss team to help me through the 90.8 pounds I need to lose. I've skimmed through some the boards, looking for a support team, and thought I'd ask over here.

My husband was in the military for 5 of our 6 years of marriage. We have two beautiful little girls, ages 3 and recently turned 2. When he separated from the military, I had to start working to help make ends meet. I went through a few jobs and now find myself as a jailer, of all things. I love it, though!

For my families health, I would love to introduce more healthy foods and activities/exercise. For my career I need to be lighter and quicker on my toes.

My biggest downfalls are: I'm an emotional eater, I have hypothyroidism, and asthma.

My biggest encouragements are: My daughters, I don't want them to have to go through this when they are my age! My husband, dear man has been patient and loving with me, even when I threated to wring his neck if he didn't hand over a Dr Pepper! Myself, I WANT To change!

Anyway, SoS? Anyone out there?

Heather,

Welcome, first of all congratulations to you for realizing you want to lead a healthier life at the "ripe old age" of 25!  I didn't figure it out until I was 40! You should get plenty of support here at CC.

Second, tell your husband kudos for his sacrifices he made for our country, I love a man in uniform!  Honestly, we don't thank the military enough, be sure to pass that along to him.

There is lots of information here, I find myself sometimes spending too much time at this site, but reading the threads from others that posts helps.  Also, if you haven't done so, fill out your profile and start counting calories and posting to your account.  It is all quite helpful.

Finally if you have a question about anything specific.  Post it to the specific forum, there are a lot of people on this site that have some really good information and advise.

Good luck to you.

Good luck, and welcome aboard.

Hi,

I'm new too! Just joined last week. I am almost 30 (March 4th gulp), I have a two year old son, and I started this site at 249.5, so I have at a MINIMUM 100 lbs to lose.  I am feeling pretty good about it so far, and could use a couple of buddies in the same boat to bounce ideas off of and just vent to, so add me as a friend if you like!

AHHHH! Heathers unite! :) Kidding! I added you to friends! I'll be 25 on March 24th, so we'll try to keep our birthdays good, right? Right? *sigh* HEHE!

Oh count me in.  The more friends the better.  I've been on CC for a couple months now and I love it.  I'm half way to my goal of 125 so I could still use the help too.

Hello Heather D.

I just joined this site.  I was discouraged on having to write everything down....This is the thing for me.  I have 64 pounds to lose, and hope I can keep with the calorie count.  I am in school headed for my masters in nursing, and sit ALOT.  When I do go to work, I run.  So hopefully, with the less in than I am putting out, it can happen.

I have 2 children.....and the snacking thing makes me crazy. Those cheese sticks seem to be a great snack, plus if you get some fruit leather.....those in combo make a quick snack that's great.

Also, the prep time in getting celery sticks with a bit of peanut butter is another great snack.

It's the chips, and chex mix that sink me.

Well, we'll all hang in there together.  I think I'm going to like this.

Hey Ladies,

How's everyone doing?

Emilie, I know what you mean about the snacking problem!! I have a two year old, and it seems like I can't make him something to eat w/out sampling.!!

Good for you for trying something new though! Keep me posted, maybe we can motivate each other.

I have to get back on track. I am thirty today, and the birthday weekend was a little rough. This is the first time in three weeks that I have gone over my calories, and I don't know how much damage is actually done, so stay tuned.....

Okay, so down 1.5lbs even with the Texas Roadhouse. I guess that means I shouldn't let one bad day ruin a week of good effort!!
