Hi everyone, as you can tell i'm new...just joined a few weeks ago. Not sure what my skin condition is, but every since geting pregnant and having my daughter I now suffer from dry red patches on my face...I used to have rather nice skin prior to being pregnant, don't get me wrong, I had my share of acne flare ups as well but these dry patches are just making me sick...I went to see a dermatologist and he gave me a topical cream to put on it, but when my family Dr found out she told me not to use it because its a type of steroid cream and it will thin the skin. So, I don't know what to do...does any one have any idea what it might be or maybe have a few tricks to try? The patches also get itchy when i'm exerciseing, it seems like the heat iritates it more or something.
Thanks a lot for listening...and for any future help!
Aloha Nui! I am even newer - joined today! Hey...I find da' Tita!
Look this up on google: seborrheic dermatitis
check out the Mayo Clinic info. Very good stuff.
And look up Your cream's ingredients, too while you're at it...
Are the dry patches just a little oily, too? I got a cream...Protopic. It's working.
Some other stuff - like cortisone creams I believe it will thin the skin but I don't think forever? Your Dr. is not a Dermatologist, right? I am not your doctor or even a Dr. but the cream I got worked! I am grateful for the solution.
Good luck from a haole sistah
(Hey...Which Island? I am on Maui.)
Hey, thanks for the information...my patches are just dry! Was your Protopic a prescription? Or can you get some over the counter kind? How many times a day do you use the cream? I'll definitely check out the mayo clininc thing...mahalos again!
Ps...I live big island
Prescription...you would probably want to go back to your Dermatologist - and have him or her write the name of your condition down so you can do a bit more research.
I was supposed to use it twice a day, but it is an ointment - very greasy and I work in dusty/dirty situation.. so I only used it pau work.
now i use it once in a while if i flair up - for a week and then stop again. It is a great help for me.
