Alopecia

Quote  |  Reply

I have had it since I was a child.  I lost all of my hair in 2001.  I am so afraid to go to the dermatologist!  I scared they will tell me my hair will never grow back.  I know I am lucky not to have nothing horrible wrong with me its just I miss having my own hair.Cry

Aw, chin-up!

I remember reading an article about a woman with the same condition that WON A MODELING CONTEST!!! She had wigs outifitted for her, and a sparkling personality.

You'll also never have to worry about going gray, and hair dye!

Wigs also cost thousands of dollars for a half decent one that doesn't looks like a nest.. and professionals picked it out, shaped, and styled it for her. =/

Hun, so what if you don't have hair? You have a face, and it's gorgeous. Without any dead protein strands in it's way, you can doll it up, hold your head high, and show off your confidence and beauty!

However, the worst they can say is that it won't grow back. Okay, well, you've anticipated that. Now, they can offer you many, many suggestions on what you can do. They've delt with this before, and they know how devestated people can be. They will do everything they can to help you if you just ask. :)

if this ends up happening to you, then you'll be given the opportunity to be an inspiration. Just be proud of who you are, know that you're still gorgeous (and if you don't think so, just fake it and act like it -  in time you'll realize just how much more important it is to let your inner beauty and confidence shine through.)

I've had alopecia since I was about 9 or 10.  At 19 I was tired of going monthly for injections and all the special stuff that only grew the hair at the very top of my head.  I went through a lot of stuff until about 2 years ago I discovered lace front wigs.  It has been the most fun I have ever had.  I get to change my look constantly. Now does it make up for not have your own  I don't really know since I can barely remember but I feel much more comfortable than I ever have.

I've had a Rihanna cut, a Curly Beyonce's do, I have a golden brown long layered cuts with sideswept bangs.

I don't want you to take from this that I never wished I had my own hair but once you get to the acceptance part you may start to have fun.

My mom has actually said to me"You'd be disappointed if your hair grew back"

My cousin lost her hair last year after under going treatment for breast cancer.  She was wearing regular wigs but she got tired of them tangling up after a month. We found a lady that sells full lace front wigs and the hair was so beautiful and soft. My cousin can wash the hair while its on her head. She can even part it anywhere on her head. Her natural hair was never this long and you can't tell that it's a wig. Brandsavings is a good place to get them.
