Already fall within a healthy BMI and looking to lose those last few pounds and/or get in shape?
I would like to start a motivation group for those that already fall within a healthy BMI but looking to lose those last few pounds and/or get in shape.
Fantastic idea!! I am near the top end of the healthy BMI range and am wanting to shed some pounds and gain back some strength. I am female, 29 years old, 5'10, and 173 lbs. I am aiming to lose about 20 lbs but won't be heartbroken if I don't make it all the way. As long as I feel good and don't feel like I need an oxygen mask just to run a few feet...lol.
I am getting back into the active lifestyle. My friends and I love to play sports like softball (indoor and outdoor), frisbee, touch football, and try to take a new dance class every winter. I go to the gym approx. once a week and would like to get into my old routine (running 3-4 x's per week and weight training 3 x's per week). My motivation just isn't there yet. I have good intentions and pack my gym bag at night, but just can't get out of bed in the morning (maybe cuz I live in Saskatchewan and it is beyond cold right now) and I'm too exhausted by the end of the day to go. Any suggestions on how to get my butt out of bed????
I like this idea ;)
About me:
I'm 24, 5'2, and lately I've been weighing in around 136-138, which is right at the top of the healthy bmi range, or verging on overweight. I don't particularly count on the BMI, because I'm very active and quite muscular. But I still would like to lose about 10 lbs and tone up my midsection, so this is probably a good place for me.
Right now I generally do 70 minutes of cardio (elliptical, running, about 75-80% of max heart rate) 6-7 days a week, and about two 30 min strength training sessions a week. I'm currently working on getting my eating habits back under control after the holiday season. Yikes!
HI,
I am 31, 32 in a few weeks eeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!! I am 5'8 1/2 and weigh 159, which is a BMI of 24 ish. I am wanting to get down to 140, which would put me at low to mid range of a healthy BMI.
I struggle daily as a former bulimic, that gets easily obsessed and equally easily falls off the diet wagon on to the binge cycle.
Would LOVE some understanding buddies, like you guys, who although fall in to the healthy BMI range are still wanting to shift the last few lbs.
Keep going girls!!!!!!!!
I would like to join. I am 36 yrs, 4'11 and I'm fluctating between 113-115 pounds. My BMI is around 23.
I would like to get down to and maintain at 110 pounds, 22.2 BMI.
I also would like to tone up and work on reducing body fat percentage.
I really like this idea too. I'm especially happy to see that not everyone is a teenager! (I love teenagers, but our metabolisms and issues are very different!)
I'm 49. I' 5' 5" weigh about 137 (guessing, my daughter took my scale, I'll update when my new one arrives) and my current BMI is 22.6. I want to weigh between 125-128 consistantly and get in better shape. I had a BF% taken a few months ago and it was nearly 31%. Even that high is supposed to be 'healthy' in someone my age but let me tell you, it ain't pretty!
I was actually down to 129 for a day, lol, before Thanksgiving but without even totally pigging out I'm back to the high 130's. It's discouraging because it took me four months to lose 8 pounds in a reasonable healthy way. I've yo-yo'd my whole adult life and it's very tempting to just cut back to 700-800 calories and get the job done.
I don't want to keep the yo-yo cycle anymore, though. I'm committed to doing it the right way. My calorie goal is between 1250-1300/day and I plan on working up to doing the elliptical five days a week. I'm trying to get used to getting up by 5:15 AM so that I can get to the gym on weekdays.
I hope we can support each other. There's just no healthy way to lose weight when your current weight and 'ideal' weight are close together except slooowwwwly.
Hey, this sounds like me too.
Current stats: 5'6" 137 lbs. BMI: 22.1 medium frame
Goal weight: 125 lbs. BMI 20.2
Weight: 153lbs BMI: 24.7 Barely healthy :)
Goal : 140lbs BMI:22.6
I'm trying to lose the last 13lbs after being over 200+ lbs I want to get fit and toned and lower my BMI.
Although I made much progress, I still don't feel comfortable with the rolls of fat on my body.
Those who knew me when I was obese, comment on how skinny I look because they are comparing me to the obese me.
I have an idea of a fit, toned and sexy me that they can't quite grasp..... hahahaha
hey guys! I really like this group idea. This is exactly my goal - not necessarily lose lots of weight but really tone up and maybe drop some inches/lose some fat.
My stats: I'm 5'4'' and fluctuate b/w 134 and 138. Last year I was about 145. I wasn't even trying to lose weight but had a lot of stomach problems and lost my appettite for awhile. I've always been athletic (played college field hockey) and thought I'd always be in the 140 range. Now that I'm in the 130 range, I feel great!! I'm eating more now b/c my stomach has been better. I workout at least 5 times a week - cardio and weights.
I would love to get in the 120s but if I stay in the 130s for the rest of my life, I'd be happy :)
I actually asked God for guidance and then realized that it is my duty to take care of my body as it is a gift from him. I began to exercise and watch my calorie consumption for the first time in my life.....
The weight fell off but the last 15lbs are very hard. The whole process has taken about a 1 1/2yrs . I want to lose the last 15lbs by my 2 year anniversary in May '08. I started this in May'06
Right now it is in the -20's but feels like -30 C with the windchill. We usually get one really cold week where it is -30 but feels like -40. It hasn't happened yet and I'm hoping Mother Nature has forgotten this year...lol. It is definitely a challenge to keep active in the winter time especially when all you want to do is cuddle under a blanket to keep warm instead of venturing outside to plug in your car to go to the gym!
Broomball and Sno-pitch (softball in the snow) is always a blast on milder days. Any one else live up north? Any other suggestions for winter activities to keep active?
I need to lose roughly around six more pounds!
I am 16, 17 On Feb 12, and I am going on vacation March first, so I am looking for that, 'bikini body'. I am 5'8, and last time I had weighed myself I was about 134.5. (Then, I went to the docters, and their scale had me at 139! :[ ) I am shooting for 130!
I started at 140, around the beginning of Jan.
I currently have an illness, so I haven't been able to exercise. My body does not even want food, yet, I force a little bit in myself so I don't starve! (I still manage togo over my calories, hahaha).
I shoot for about 1400-1500 calories a day. ( Most sites say to have around 1400, yet, others say that considering I am a teenager, that I should have around 1600.)
I usually run on the Eliptical for 20 minutes, then, do a lot of jumping jacks, crunches, squats, running around(anything to get my heart pumping) for about ten minutes. I usually do weights too.
Random fact: I use to have back and neck pain while I worked out on the Eliptical, but, a little less then a month ago, I went to the Chiropractor to find that I have (mild) sculiosis (Curvation of the spine), and they gave me a foot implant, and it's so mcuh easier to exercise! :]
My ab muscles are starting to tone up, and my legs are, also.
I am a pear shape, so I am hoping to get a firmer bootay!
:D
Me too! me too!
I'm 46 yrs. 5' 3" (on a good day) and as of this morning, weigh 139. My BMI is at 24.6 but I'd like to get it to 23. My goal weight is 127.
I quit smoking AND switched to a healthier lifestyle (eating, working out) on the same day, January 2nd. When I began, I weighed 144.5 and my main concern was that my metabolism would very likely slow down when I quit smoking so I'd better also begin working out and eating properly.
So far, so good - I'm down 5 pounds and have been butt free for 3 weeks. Now if I could only get this other butt of mine to shed a few inches!
I just joined this site on the weekend and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!
Any other Canadians here?

TBLO - I'm in Ontario... Cccccold here too at the moment. The cold spell moved in on Sunday and it was downright nasty out. Reminded me of why I'm not a fan of our Canadian winters, which up until this past weekend, had at least been tolerable.
Soon our little groundhog will come out though and predict what is in store for us.... I hope he's kind this year.

Your workout routine is commendable but you are eating too many calories to lose weight. 1500-1700 calories a day is more like a maintenance... Read more
