Already fall within a healthy BMI and looking to lose those last few pounds and/or get in shape?
I would like to start a motivation group for those that already fall within a healthy BMI but looking to lose those last few pounds and/or get in shape.
Dalzar and Monkey08us-
I am 5'6", 138, wanting to be 128, similar to you. I weigh every day too to see what the trend but only record my weight on a weekly basis for official record. Continued workout of 1 hour in the gym and 45" in the swimming pool, 3 times a week, with controlled calories payed off last week for a 1 lb loss.

oh wow, my happy weight is 118! i'd practically have to starve myself to get down that low :-/
LOL, I just checked out my happy weight which is 122, I am 5'8.5, and to get to 122 I think I'd have a major struggle on my hands!!!
Just checked on calculator and in my world that is 8 and a half stone, scary... At 140 I'm an English Size 8, which is USA 4 or 2, so ........................................!!
Finally! After a couple of months of no loss (and admittedly limited calorie counting due to holidays and weddings), I'm down to about 134. Really I owe it to these forums...if nothing else it reminds me of what I'm really trying to do, and hearing how other people are doing helps keep me motivated. So thanks!
I feel like singing. "I've got sunshine...on a cloudy day..." lol
Hi! I am new to calorie count. I am 28 and 5'5" and 134. I want to lose a few pounds, but mostly I just want to live a healthy life style and get toned up. My weight number and what size I wear doesn't matter much, because I know when I am toned I look really great. I am really out of shape. I like jogging, but I live somewhere where ice and snow cover the ground 4-5 months of the year. I really can't afford a gym right now.
See! I keep making excuses for not exercising. No Excuses!
I have been trying to do some exercising in my living room, but lack of space make it hard to do more than crunches and pilates (the coffee tables edges are my current Nemesis). I have been trying to do little things to make up for my sedentary job making. Taking the stairs, walking to the store, etc. instead of driving a couple of blocks, and (lol) making multiple trips to the copier, reorganizing my file boxes to require some lifting.
Right now, I am about 151 but I started body boot camp about 3 weeks ago along with an intense pilates class (in addition to cardio approx 3 times a week). I so am wondering if the 150's are hanging around due to an increase in muscle (as well as left over holiday bulge?) Any ideas? In boot camp we do push ups, squats, lunges, sprints, weights for arms, lots of leg and ab work, etc. I do notice a difference in my arms from all the pushups and my legs are sore for a few days after class. My clothes are fitting ok, but I have pants in a wide rangs of sizes, so its not always the best indicator.
Even at 151, I am only 6 or 7 pounds from my goal - totally doable! :)

Hi everyone,
If you want to find your happy weight, click here:

My Happy Weight is 144; I'm already below that and want to go to 128. Is that a realistic health goal? 128 is in the athlete range and is safe.
69; 5'6"; 139
BMI now down to 23.6, weight down to 155, 15lbs to go!!!!!!!
How's everyone else doing???
xx

Because we all only have a little to lose or want to tone up, do you find it extremely difficult??? My goal isn't necessarily to lose weight, but I would like to lose fat and tone up my body (especially around my stomach!). I find that it's quite hard to lose this extra fat. I eat pretty healthy and workout! What gives?! Anyone else feel this way? Or if you were/are successful, how'd you do it?? Do you think that at some point, your body will max out and that is just how you were built?
I definitely think that it seems much harder than losing a big amount of pounds. Mostly because "Toning Up" doesn't register on a scale. I, too, need to tone up my stomach, and I've been trying for months. My upper and lower body gets toned really easy, but all the definition gets lost just above my hip bones.
I'm joining a gym this week! They'll be measuring my weight, height, endurance, body fat percentage, etc. I'm really excited, because I've really lacked the equipment I need at home.
So wish me luck!
I need a boost. At the beginning of last week I was very excited to be at 112.6. Today I'm 116. My goal is to get to 110 and tone up. I did aerobics last week Monday and took dance classes on Thursday Saturday and Sunday. I don't log calories daily, but estimate that I was between 1400-1500 per day (I'm 4'11). Any tips?
roc07, doesn't it just drive you crazy? How's your salt intake been? Is it close to your TOM? Odds are that the change is just water weight. Drink a lot of water and see if it doesn't go away. Of course the other water-based possibility is that you were a bit dehydrated when you weighed 112.6.
How is your activity level on the days you don't take class? When I plug your numbers in the burn calculator, it comes out at 1700 for lightly active. With your estimated intake, you would only have a 200-300 calorie deficit. You will still loose weight but it's going to be slow and you have to realize those water type fluctuations are going to drive you nuts. Just try and concentrate on your trend line.
As for me, I finally bought a new scale. I've lost about three pounds since the beginning of January but it's hard to celebrate since I'm still about four more than I was at the end of November. Once again, my chart looks like the alps. My new goal is 127 by April 15th (just to pick an auspicious date!)
Good job on the three pounds! I'm sure you'll reach your goal on schedule or beforehand.
Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure about my sodium intake. I will have to start monitoring it more carefully. It is also quite possible that I was dehydrated. It is not TOM yet but I usually get a really low weight the day before TOM and then it spikes up 2-4 pounds. It's really hard because some of the added weight stays on after TOM.
As for my activity level, for aerobics it would be high; dance classes are moderate. I may have to adjust back to 1200 to lose weight which is what CC recommended. Even then I only get a 500 deficit.
I increased to 139 at 1385 cal and have upped calories to 1485 for this week. A starvation diet took me to 130 before but had an effect on the prior gain.
FWIW, Slim-Fast states to eat at least 1200 calories on their products but their website will not allow a menu of lower than 1300 for the day.
Hi all! I joined CC last year, stayed with it for a couple of months and then lost interest. Now I'm back with a fresh outlook!. About me: 28 yrs old, 132 lbs, 5'6", BMI 21. My current goal is 120 lbs... but mostly I want the inches off (clothes keep getting tighter!). My plan is to eat 1200 cal a day and exercise for at least 45 min a day. I'm not currently tracking my cal intake and the only exercise I'm getting is from chasing my puppy around my house. So... with all that... wish me luck and I hope you all reach your goals!
I'm 42, 5'4", and I'm thinking about 128 pounds. (That is a complete guess, because I haven't stepped on a scale in a year and a half.) If that number is right, my BMI is 22. I dropped over 20 pounds to get to these numbers. My fear is that I lost my weight during a bout with anxiety when I struggled to eat and sleep. Now that my life is back on an even keel, and I'm eating again, I worry that the weight will creep back on. . .
I think I'd like to lose another six pounds or so, so that my smallest clothes fit well. I base my goals on how my clothes fit and how I feel I look, rather than an actual weight.
Is there a place on this forum for someone who doesn't even own a scale?
Hey, beckyeas & sarasmall, the more the merrier! Glad you've joined us. Becky, I take my hat off to you for being able to go it without a scale. I was a nice healthy once-a-week weigher when I lost my scale about three weeks ago. I couldn't stand it! I just got a new one and I just feel so much 'safer'. I can fool myself about clothes and even what I see in the mirror. I suppose if I would measure that would do it but I've never gotten in the habit.
Yesterday was my hubby's birthday so I ate more than usual. I had more than my goal cals but still less than maintanance so I'm not unhappy. I'm feeling a little better about my portion control and hope I can keep it up right through the weekend. Weekends can be trouble for me. ![]()
