Already fall within a healthy BMI and looking to lose those last few pounds and/or get in shape?
I would like to start a motivation group for those that already fall within a healthy BMI but looking to lose those last few pounds and/or get in shape.
Oh this is perfect for me =) I am 5'6", started at 140 and am now 126. I lost all that weight through mostly dieting, but at this point I'd like to start exercising more to get toned and slim down my thighs and rear. I've been doing about 1200 calories a day (VERY roughly) but last night I went up to 1600 over indulging in pizza...I'm trying to look at that as a treat for my hard work!
I think this thread is great, I really need any motivation to work out I can find! I'm not sure how great I'll be at it but hey, I'm trying...=)
Good luck everyone!
HELLO! =D
I'm glad i found this thread! Well Im 17 years old, 5"1", I used to be 124 lbs when i was 16 but now i'm 116 lbs which i am happy about. I lost the weight by eating healthy and doing some light to moderate exercising. Even though i am 116 lbs my goal weight is to be around 110 -113, to reach my goal i have begun to do "Hip hop abs" and eat healthier (eating in small portions). I hope to reach my goal before prom and get a awesome toned body ;-)! Wish me luck!! Oh and I wish everyone out there luck too!! Si se puede! XD
Hello everybody! Hope things have been going well for all of you. Welcome to the new folks! Just as a refresher, I'm 49, 5' 5", currently ~133, goal 125-127ish.
I started writing my daily totals for cals in & burned in my journal last Tuesday. If I follow through with my menu plans for tonight, I will be at -1537 calories for the week. And while that's not all that impressive, if I keep at it, I will have lost 5 pounds by June. That time is going to pass by anyway. I'm trying for a sort of slowing down the restrictions into maintenance game.
I haven't starved myself by any means so I think this level of intake is very doable for me long term. I've started getting a little more exercise and I will try and to keep increasing with the warmer weather. If I do that I'll reach that 5 pounds sooner.
I WILL WEAR THAT LITTLE WHITE SUNDRESS AGAIN! LOL!
Well, I'm still on a plateau.
Maybe because exercise has increase due to PT after gym and not enough calories to compensate.

intesrested in the group-sounds like a great idea. I'm 5'7 and about 128 lbs. The past summer, I got really sick (not ED, had head trauma) and drastically dropped from 125 to 108lbs. Since, I have gained about 20lbs. I'm thin, but still fighting the belly flab... and weigh more than I did before I was sick! I Don't necessarily want to lose weight, the scale doesn't really mean that much to me, just want to tone up. Hope everyone else is doing well and achieving their goals!
Hi guys,
I'm a SAHM (kids 11, 5, 3), 5'6", 124pds, 32 yr/o with a BMI of 20.2. I'm trying to lose 10-15 pds and firm up. Most days I alternate between ball exercise and weight lifting, and throw in biking and skipping rope for cardio here and there.
Hello,
This sounds like a place for me I am currently 131 lbs, 5'3", 29 yrs old. I started with 142 lbs on Jan 1, 2008 - so yeaah 11lbs gone :-). I work out 60 min on treadmill 5 times a week followed by 10 min of yoga and crunches, and my goal weight is to be 110/115 lbs. Additional to my weight loss I also want to be more tone and feel better about my self in general.
Good Luck to us all!
Sam
Hey Sam-Thats me...5'3", 131 lbs. I started at 136 about a month ago. Do you feel like these last 10-15 are ever going to budge???? It's so agrivating. Eat right, work out and nothing!
I'm dong SI6 right now. I'm almost done with the 4th week but am planning to go for 8 weeks instead of 6. I'm trying to hit 1200-1400 calories a day.
I feel like eating a big basket of assorted and delicious Easter Candy. Help!
Leslie
Leslie, whenever I feel like I'm going to give into my sweet or salty tooth, I make it as hard as possible for myself to give in. Chips and chocolate go in my attic, basement, car trunk if need be. Make it completely inconvenient for yourself to go through the bother of getting the stuff!
Or try doing something that takes your mind off of snacking, like vacuuming or dishes (whatever will keep both hands busy) You can do it!! Good luck :)
I just reset my goals: I am currently at a healthy BMI, 22.1. However, I want to go from 134 lbs. to 126 lbs. My goal date is May 17th, so please wish me luck, because I have had problems in the past...
I have found my weight loss pattern to be work really hard and be dedicated for awhile, until I lose a little bit of weight, feel great about myself, THEN I start to cheat a little (with eating, not exercising). Then I cheat a little bit more, and finally, I forget about my goals and I'm back to where I started!
This entire cycle lasts about 3-4 months, then I see a picture of me and realize I am not looking too 'fit' and then the cycle starts again.
So this time, I really hope I follow through. I am glad that I found these forums to help motivate me, because Lord knows I need it.
good morning! I made it through Easter with a jump in weight, but that's ok... It's a holiday :) still going for 133 and am pretty motivated. I have hidden the chocolate with the cookies I've had for a few months... out of sight out of mind works for me :) If I get a chocolate craving I'll have a piece... but not 6... lol...
weekly goal is to get to 137... I'll keep you all posted :)
how did everyone else do this Easter?
Thanks queenmedia for the advice...Unfortuantely I gave in this weekend. Been extra busy and even missed about 3 workouts! I'm a little mad at myself, but plan to get back to business today. krrpt, you're not the only one who is seeing a jump in weight this morning. I know I'm up, but too chicken to get on the scale....We'll be ok, like you said, it was a holiday after all :) Back to work!
rlr03g-I know exactly what you're talking about. I can stick to a program pretty strict for about a month then slowly derail...Sometimes I think it's because I am expecting to see results quicker than they happen so after about a month I tell myself it's not working, then start being more lenient on what I eat and do etc.
Keep on truckin'
Leslie
You know the saying "do as I say, not as I do"? Well, that about sums it up!! Within arms reach I have bday cake, homemade cookies, chips, pop, and Easter chocolate. I can ignore the pop, cake and chocolate, but the cookies and chips are my Achilles heel, so I've got to get the away from me. The only thing saving me from them at the moment is I just took some medication that requires me to not eat anything for 2 hours before or after taking it.
I'm glad that there are no other "eating holidays" coming up again anytime soon!
Hey Leslie,
Sorry for not responding earlier...Since I work on computer all day when i am at home on holidays and weekends I avoid the computer.
Yes, I feel the same way the 10 to 15 lbs have found a cozy home within my body and they don't want to budge.
For me 1200 calories is too low and according to this thread...I should be eating at least my BMR to avoid starvation/ platue for my body. (My BMR is 1385 calories)
Here is the website to calculate BMR:
http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/
I too have a sweet tooth (was eating chocolate after most meals - everyday)and to fight my cravings I have found a substitue - FRUITS. It took me a long time to adjust but slowly I am craving less sweet and I am starting to find my body appreciates fruits more then it did chocolate.
One of the tricks I am trying to use is thinking - Have I eaten chocolate before? (umm yes). Has the taste of the chocolate changes since I last ate it? (No). In that case I am eating empty calories and not providing nutrients to my body...
Of Course, I haven't gotten there yet 100% and do eat chocolate - the quantity and cravings has decreased.
Frustrating to be sure! I should be able to break the plateau one way or the other. ![]()

Add me to the ranks who let things go totally to pot over the long holiday weekend. This is what drives me crazy...I count calories, measure food, yada, yada...lose maybe 4 pounds in a couple of months...go bonkers for a week and ta da! Right back to where I started.
Oddly enough, I am feeling reinvigorated and ready to go back at it. Perhaps it is becoming more of a lifestyle than a diet?
Hi all :)
This group is exactly what I'm looking for!
Currently, I am 5'8" 130 lbs and 23.4% body fat. I'm trying to get to 19% body fat, meaning I need to lose 6 pounds! Last year, I was 140, and slowly started changing my eating and exercise habits.
Now, we have a gym membership, and I'm counting my calories to lose the last few annoying pounds :D My husband and I exercise (weight training and cardio) 2-3 times per week right now, and hopefully we can bump that up to a solid 3 times per week by next month.
I'm eating more fruits and vegetables during the day as a snack instead of crackers or cheese or chocolate. Although I still need my 2 chocolate squares per day :P Stupid cravings...
Things are looking good so far, but I can't wait to step on the scale and measure my body fat % and have it be at that healthy not-so-far-off goal!
I didn't read this entire thread, so if this advice is a repeat, I apologize, but anyone who's within ten to fifteen pounds of their goal weight(sorry I don't prescribe to the crap that is BMI), the best answer is a ketogenic diet, and there is none better than Militant Bodyopus, by Dan Duchaine. I knew Dan for years, when I was involved in bodybuilding and powerlifting, and it's a huge loss, that he's gone, but his book is the definitive way for people who aren't fat, wanting to achieve that finish to their diet.
Curt,
I sure don't pretend to speak for others, but as for myself, I really don't want a 'diet'. (Although because I am intentionally restricting my calories I guess I'm technically on one.) I want to eat a variety of healthy foods like I will be eating for the rest of my life. I just want to watch portions so that I end up and stay at my goal weight. Thanks for the info though. Interesting that most references involved epilepsy.
