alright you guys, it's scolding time! if you can't handle it, KEEP OUT!!!
yeah, scolding time! never mind me today. some of you are still dieting. what the heck?! you know you can't diet! well yeah, you can diet, but you KNOW what will happen! you'll lose weight & gain back more than you lost when you're done.
what is the matter with you?! dieting is bullcrap! yes, bullcrap! i was told AGAIN yesterday, 'it doesn't matter what you want to call it, it's still dieting.' IT IS NOT!!! i lost 92 pounds & i only dieted for ONE DAY. that was for my colonoscopy & i hated every second of it. all i did was complain. dieting sucks & nobody should EVER diet!
if you are dieting, then you know who you are. just shut up! ok, now just listen to me.
you NEED to change your lifestyle. i don't care how you change it. it's up to YOU! just change it! make one change. make 5 changes. i don't care! make at least ONE promise to yourself that you can keep for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, and NO! that is NOT called, as i was told AGAIN yesterday, "dieting for the rest of your life."
there is a difference between dieting and LIVING! come on guys, don't you get it?! it's a new life, and it's awesome!!!
geez, do i have to say this again?! i started off weighing 218, and i ate like a freaking pig! every day. every single day. i swear, i must have been eating between 7000 & 10000 everyday, if not more. along with that, i NEVER exercised! ever. if i hated what was on tv & i couldn't reach the remote, i'd suffer & just watch the stupid show. i would lay on my bed & play on my computer all day & eat. i would eat an entire bag of chips AND an entire box of macaroni & cheese WHILE deciding where we would go eat!!!
do you think i'm on a diet? do i act like i'm on a diet? come on!!! i have seriously changed my life forever. i am NOT dieting!!!
the first thing i did was commit to exercising from now on. i had NO idea what to do. i chose walking & ONLY because it was the easiest exercise i could think of. walk. LOL who can't walk?! those in wheelchairs or bound to bed for some reason? i don't care if you have a freaking walking cane! USE IT!!!
do you think i'm still walking to lose weight?! geez!!! i'm done. i'm done you guys. how skinny do you think i want to be???!!! i've had to fight FAMILY to get below freaking 169!!!
NO! i changed my lifestyle. i AM active now. that's me. :D the NEW me. YES! there really IS a new me! i still wonder, often, where that old me went. LOL i guess she couldn't handle it... nah, i think we're ONE now, and we're just getting along great. i think she gave in, but nags me once in a while. hehehe
anyway, other than being active now, i made 2, yes, that's right, 2 lifestyle changes. i weighed 218 & i thought long & hard about how i could CHANGE MY LIFE. i finally came up with 2 changes that i could LIVE WITH FOREVER.
1. i will never eat an entire big bag of lay's BBQ chips all at once again.
2. i will never eat an entire big size toffee symphony bar all at once again.
do you think those 2 changes helped me? well, look at me!
that is HONESTLY how i started off!!! i WILL keep them promises to myself for the rest of my life. i don't care how much i leave, but i won't finish either of them ALL off at once again. ever! ;)
ok, so how much weight did that cause me to lose? LOL probably not much, but once you take that FIRST STEP & make at least ONE LIFESTYLE CHANGE, it kind of creeps up on you. you start WANTING to eat healthier, maybe not eat so much, exercise more...
every new day is a brand new day! ONE more chance to make at least ONE better choice. sure, you'll still make some pretty rotten choices, but who cares! there are soooooo many chances to make better choices even in that ONE day, and hopefully, you'll have ANOTHER NEW DAY after this one. :D
it's one day at a time, one hour, one second. i don't care what you did yesterday, OR even what you've done so far today. that's over with, forever! every freaking second is a new second & a new chance to make a better choice!!! take advantage of that!!!
you are ALL soooooo lucky to have found this place, now STOP DIETING, would you?! PLEASE?! AND don't do it for me. DO IT FOR YOURSELF!!!
you want to live longer, don't you? you want to be happier, healthier? more energetic?! maybe even stronger???
dieting won't get you there. dieting is disgusting! dieting makes people hungry & tired. dieting makes people mad & upset. sad, whatever. look around you. look at other dieters. look at past diets. they all fail. at least in the long run.
dieters deprive themselves AND it shows! uggghhhh!!! dieters hide in closets & eat!!!
well, i'm sorry guys. i just had to let that out. you know me. well, i'm sorry to you guys out there who HAVE changed their lives, i'm NOT sorry to the dieters.
dieters? come on! would you AT LEAST CONSIDER CHANGING YOUR LIFESTYLE?!
it'll be fun! it'll be exciting! it's NOT like dieting at all! them pounds will start dropping off AND you'll be sooooo happy AND proud! there are soooooo many ups & downs. it's awesome!!!! you can even eat ALL of the foods you love!!!
how many new choices will you make? in even ONE DAY?! just think about it. think about ALL the choices you make everyday & you don't even realize that they're ALL choices. every single thing that goes into your mouth is YOUR choice. every moment sitting sedentary is YOUR choice.
P.S. i love you ALL!!! yes... even you dieters... AND i wish you ALL the best. i just wish you freaking dieters would get some sense... do you want me to go over there & slap you upside the head?! i will, you know. i will...
(i'm soooooo sorry you guys, but this sucker is being posted right now! i'm mad as hell & i'm not gonna take it anymore! freaking tell me that i'm dieting & i've been dieting & i'll be dieting for the rest of my life... geez!)
i hope i don't lose any friends now, but i guess it's better to try to save their lives. :(
Some one is cranky this morning. ![]()
UD
Well put!
yeah umney, i'm cranky from dieters, not from dieting.
thanks mabenner! LOL i'd start a revolution if i could! :D i think it's already begun, though. i just wish it'd get alot bigger & MORE people would join in!
I love you snowfence! You are soooo right! I needed to hear this today! I have changed my lifestyle forever, no matter what I weigh or how long it takes to lose the weight and I am happier and healthier for it and it is NOT a burden!!
thank you sooooo much, ncurlee! :D
congrats on your new lifestyle! i love it!!! yep, happier, healthier AND not a burden... not at all. and yeah, that weight WILL come off, practically on it's own. it's just all in the way you choose to live.
Thank You Snowfence... Very true!!!
I have tried teh dreaded dieting in teh past!!! I am still overweight!! So it goes without saying dieting doesn't work. I have never stuck with any of it for more than three weeks.
on July 15th my Husband and i decided together that we were makign lifestyle changes!! exercising more, being more active and eating helathier. Both for us and our daughter. ( she's four). Without going to far into it.. My Aunt is a very medically involved diabetic.. if there is a complication otu there she has it or had it.. It gets very frustrating... She is risky that even what we may consider a muscle pull, ends her up in the ER for hours with miles of tests. I vowed teh last ER visit, and hospital admission that I would not be her. You see she had type 2 diabetes diagnosised at 40 years old. Due to obesity. Fabulous woman but i can't remeber her ever being less than 250lbs... Knowling her history and seeing her now... It will not be me!! In order to achieve than I need to change my lifestyle not diet!!! It needs to be forever... So thank you , yes thank you for spitting out eveything i have been thinking and feeling!!!! Thank you for the incredible motivation today!!!
( To date I have been to the gym five days a week for the last five weeks, I never complain, I love the gym, love my routine and it is now a part of me!! My daughter, husband and I all choose a healthy itemto be included in dinner and we have come up with soem great dinners. I have lost 13lbs, but more importantly, i am so very proud of our family)
thanks snbueller! that's awesome! :D
yeah, it really isn't that hard to ADD good foods to what you normally eat & to start being active. our health should be important to us. i'm sure nobody wants to turn out like your aunt.
hey, it's one step at a time & i'm sure your whole family is already happier now & healthier, too. you should be really proud. all of you!
congrats on your new lifestyle AND on your 13 pound loss! WooHoo!!!
That was good to read. There's definitely a big difference between a lifestyle change and a diet, and small steps are the way to go. Your success is quite inspirational... I'm still on my way to becoming a more active person (I exercise almost daily, but I have a desk job, and relax most nights after work), but I'm hoping I will stick with the changes I'm making. Relearning how to eat isn't easy. Anyway, thanks! :)
thank you for this . I have been trying to tell people I interact with everyday this exact same thing. I tell them I'm not on a diet. I'm changing the way I look at food, I'm putting away the video games and becoming more active. I'm changing my life.
I started my life changing almost 3 years ago. 3 YEARS!!. From that long ago I decided I will never try another diet again. I lost 30 pounds on a stupid diet a friend of mine wanted to try but gained it back with 30 extra pounds after I came off the diet.
So now I'm 7 pounds from my goal, I lost 60 pounds since January 09 and I feel great. I'm almost never hungry, I haven't binged once since I started and I have a much better outlook on life.
Weight lost is not supposed to be quick and dirty it's supposed to take a long time so you stick to you new healthier way of living because it becomes a way of life for you and you appreciate something more after you have worked so hard for it.
penkwin, thanks.
yep, you said you're still on your way, but at least you're doing it. that's great! i'm sure you'll stick with it. don't feel bad for relaxing most nights. it's all up to YOU how you do this & nobody else. YOU make the changes that work the best for YOU & nobody else. enjoy, most of all, enjoy what you are doing!
epiphany, i know. it's sooooo hard to get people to understand. dieting is all most of them know. i wish they knew a better way & it's right here. it's ALL right here AND it's FREE! :D
i'm so glad you have decided to change your lifestyle. nope, never diet again! LOL it is soooooo not worth it.
WOW! 7 pounds from your goal?! cool! it's great to hear how you are almost never hungry, haven't been binging & have a much better outlook on life. i love it!!!
i am so proud of ALL of you!
That WAS a good read, I mean it! I want to shout out an AMEN to you too, but I'm at work, so I'll just type it again: AMEN!
You go, snowfence!
Lifestyle change = happy and healthy
weight loss = happy sideeffect of happy and healthy.
I'm with ya! It would make me livid when someone would say I was on a diet as I didn't consider myself on one. It had implications of some line drawn in the sand and that once I crossed that line i.e. met my goal weight that suddenly I would eat differently and that's just not the case.
I had a massage Monday and was discussing what I had done to successfully lose weight with my massage therapist. We all know the drill (I followed the "don't do anything you can't envision doing for the rest of your life" methodology) so I won't bore you all with the details but afterwards she paid me the biggest compliment by telling me that was the most reasonable, rational approach to weight loss she'd heard in a really long time.
I didn't think I was doing anything that special but wow, the things her clients must tell her while on the table, if that was her reaction to my story. lol
you guys are all so cool, i love it! LOL thanks for the AMEN!
yep! happy & healthy... that's the only way to go & there is NO finish line. you don't just suddenly stop. what for? you learn to love what you're doing & love the changes.
you actually start craving watermelon, bananas, apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. :D yet, you still have that chocolate, chips, whatever it is that pleases you.
i can't thank you guys enough! this is awesome!!! and here, i thought i was gonna get bashed around... i guess all the dieters are hiding. hehehe they're the only ones that would get mad with this kind of talk...
Very true. I say it all the time. Diets don't work. Changing your diet does. If you cannot stick to the changes you make for the rest of your life, why bother. People who go on "Diets" gain all or more of the weight back. All about lifestyle change. Clean/balanced eating and moving your body.
Standing O for changing the way you eat as a permanent lifestyle choice!
I think that some people will say you are dieting, because they are only eating well temporarily and assume that you are too. Fools.
Well said. I really should copy this. It's a well deserved kick in the pants. Thank you.
what the hell are you talking about, ramble ramble ramble
Hate to burst your bubble, but if you lost 92lbs, then you did diet.
Here's a definition of diet from merriam webster: "a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one's weight"
You had to eat less than you burned in order to lose that weight. It's simply not possible to lose weight without reducing what you ate. Maybe you didn't restrict consciously, but you still ate less or burned more than before.
I eat very very healthy. I usually eat whatever I want. I'm looking to lose a few pounds, and yes, I call this is a diet. I'm not changing the types of foods I'm eating; I'm just changing how much I eat of them. I obviously don't want to be in a deficit forever, hence why I call this short period of time a diet.
I don't understand why you're so against dieting. What's wrong with me wanting to lose a few pounds? All I'm doing is eating a little less than before.
