Why am I always cold!?
Why am I always cold? I'm 224, down from 259 (yay! but I still have a long way to go) and am always cold. My nose and ears are always freezing and my arms are always cold too. I've heard that this could be from vitamin deficiency, from having little fat in my diet, or from drinking a lot of water. Any ideas? I've always been cold but never like this! (I've also been checked out for circulation problems, thyroid problems and I am fine). My last blood cell count was also normal, but that was 6 months ago.
Also, I sweat more than the normal person! After walking fast for maybe 5 blocks to the train, after stopping and getting on the train and relaxing I start to sweat on my neck and head. It's annoying! I also have noticed I sweat more than other people while taking classes at the gym. Any ideas here? This may just be how I am, but I never used to be this way!
Hi,
I know how you feel, I have exactly the same thing. It's likely that you have poor circulation which can be improved by exercise and stretching - you can tell by pushing your thumb into your foot and seeing whether or not the blood refills instantly, or if it stays white for a moment.
However, you may - like me - have reynauds disease. It's not really a disease, more a condition where your body can't regulate the blood flow to your extremities properly, but if you have it its worth getting checked out. You'll be able to tell if you have it because your skin will have a tendency to get a bit blotchy in the cold, and when you get really cold your fingers and toes will turn very white. Also, when I get into a hot bath when I've been cold, my hands and feet turn very red and I get a strange sensation.
If you have reynauds it's important to look after yourself because it can get worse - plenty of gloves, hot water bottles, baths, jumpers, etc... There is a blood-thinner you can go on but I choose not to as I already have low blood pressure and I don't want to take pills every day. If you have any more questions about it feel free to message me!
xx
We'll I excercise 5-6 times a week vigorously, and everyday I walk at least 30 minutes to and from the trains at work. So I don't think it is my circulation. My foot doesnt' even turn white when I push it, but maybe im not doing it right!
I hate taking warm baths because by the time I towel off I'm cold again, except now I'm even more cold because my hair is wet!
I also get warm easily. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it...
Probably should check with your doctor - I know one of my friends was cold all the time and it ended up being an iron deficiency -
