Why am I always COLD and TIRED???
Okay, so this is really a serious question. I'm chronically tired all the time. I wake up at 4:30ish in the morning for work, and I'm in bed around 9:30ish every night. And all day long I'm yawn...
Also, I'm always freezing. It was 65 degrees in my apartment last night and I was wearing my jeans, a t-shirt, and a turtle neck heavy sweater and my winter jacket...then I took my jacket off and put on my heavy house coat. This is a problem every day with my husband who is naturally hot.
I'm just wondering if anyone might know if the two are related...I know that when I'm tired, I feel cold to the bone...but I don't know how to fix it. And it's really starting to get annoying. Anyway, advice or suggestions would be super appreciated. Thanks!!!![]()
Are you dieting, restricting calories or carbohydrates? Recently lost a lot of weight?
Have you thought about getting your thyroid checked?
Have you talked to your doctor about chronic fatigue syndrome? Do you sleep well through the night?
With that said you do get up very early so perhaps your schedule is interrupting your sleep - if you feel bad enough you may want to consider changing jobs for something with better hours.
Just a few ideas to get you started.
I would question if you're getting enough iron in your diet perhaps? Red meat and a large variety of vegetables (broccolli, spinach) and legumes, even some enriched cereals are all great sources. I have trouble with maintaining a sufficient iron level, and take a daily supplement. They take several weeks to work their way through your system, but incorporating the high-iron source foods into my diet in addition to the supplements makes a world of difference in my energy levels!
I second what both sjrclark and merylwhite said. I have the same problems and I just found out last week that my iron levels are low. I haven't started taking the iron supplements yet but hope they will make a difference...

I was recently told that when you get really cold like that, its your body telling you that its time to go to bed. Your body temperature drops and you should fall asleep very easily around that time.
I'm iron deficient and face the same issues when my iron levels are low. I'm pretty much ALWAYS cold if I'm sitting still and can get fatigued very easily.
I'd def. go to your doctor and get your iron level tested, just a simple blood test! You can get over the counter supplements that will make you feel much better.
I feel like this all the time as well and I attribute it to the fact that I am anemic.
I know where you are coming from. I can actually be sitting down reading, snug and cozy, in bed, then my feet turn to ice as I sit there. Then I have trouble sleeping 'til they warm up. This happens during the hot summer months, too.
And I've been checked several times for anemia. I think it may just be the body slowing down for sleep - I try not to wait too long after I start feeling sleepy, and that seems to minimize the icy feet.
As for during the day - getting up and moving helps a lot.
You're getting about 7hrs of sleep a night. I'm fine on 7 for a night or two, but that much per night continually leaves me totally exhausted. Maybe you're like me, and you just need 8 (or even 8-9) hours of sleep to function?
Losing weight & undereating can also make me cold and tired.
