What do you always have in your grocery cart?
Just wondering what you guys tend to always buy when you go to the store, whether to make meals, have as snacks, whatever!
I buy Gala apples, 100 calorie snacks and bottled water.
You?
Samantha
water
WW bread/pita/wraps
goat or feta cheese
turkey meat
almond breeze, vanilla unsweetened
EAS protien drinks (17g..whoooohooo)
yogurts, fage 0 or yoplait light depending on how much $ I want to spend that day
frozen berries
kashi or fiber one...this week will probably be heart to heart..love that stuff
assorted fruits/veggies
usually a pork or lean beef loin of some type
whole milk (for the bf...cant break him of that one)
...thats really all I can think of at the moment..I have my grocery list in front of me...so that was easy :D
quaker 90 cal granola bars
Special K cinnamon pecan cereal
Sara Lee Soft and Smooth Whole Wheat bread
tortilla chips
avocados
I always buy mixed greens, red bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, heads of green & purple cabbage & some sort of fish (probably salmon)... Those are always a MUST on my list!! :)
Red Peppers
Cucumbers
Carrots
JICAMA. Love it.
Oranges/Caracara
Granny Smith apples
However I do think that bottled water is both a HUGE waste of money and of resources. Buying one Sigg water bottle (No plastic residue, 100% recyclable) seems expensive, but on average Americans spend over $475 on bottled water per year (at $1.29 per bottle, one a day). Buying one $20 waterbottle will save you an absurd amount of money and help green the earth!
Apples, brussel sprouts, almond milk, carrots, green bell peppers, sweet potatoes!
i'm SUCH a creature of habit - without fail, every week: oatmeal, fage, almonds, sweet potatoes, bananas and dried figs - oh and don't forget the red wine!
apples, clementines, strawberries, bananas, grapes, peaches, spinach, broccoli, asparagus, yogurt, carrots, red peppers, mushrooms, feta cheese, rice cakes, water, cottage cheese, orzo, shrimp, chicken, basil, kashi
apples, bananas, tofu. ALWAYS, no matter what.
A rotisserie chicken, two papayas, a bunch of bananas, a pound of grape tomatoes, frozen spinach, eggs, kefir, reduced fat cheddar sticks, reduced fat pita chips, and whatever other fresh produce is on sale. Yum!
grape tomatoes
apples
oranges
special k bars
tea bags
frozen broccoli, cauliflower, green/yellow beans, brussel sprouts, asparagus
butter spray
mustard
chicken breasts
yoplait source yogurt
snack bag microwave popcorn
sugar free jello
oatmeal

Light-n-Fight Vanilla Yogurt
*
Friendship 1% Cottage Cheese
*
Fruit (bananas, apples, oranges, grapes)
*
Cereal (Kashi, shredded wheat, fiber one, organic brands)

Sugar free drink mixes (tea, lemonade, etc)
Fat-free yogurt, apples, grapes, bananas, sweet potatoes, split peas, carrots, baby carrots, celery, onions (I'm making soup!), diet soda, pretzels (one thing I absolutely cannot break myself of), coffee mate (they were out of fat-free half and half, can you believe it?!), and pasta sauce.
And now I read this post and realize I completely forgot to get cherry tomatoes.
****.

Bluekitti9 what do you mean for Orzo? In Italian has a specific meaning (barley) and it's a cereal that we use as rice substitute, just for a change. We also use the dried/ground version in the moka machine and it makes a lovely coffee alternative.
My grocery store list: water, bananas, tomatoes, zucchini (courgettes), apples, yakult, canned beans (of any kind, including chickpeas), soy milk, black rice,...
I am in between beeing vegan and vegetarian, so any other vegetable/fruit of the season will make my day.

Its a little rice-shaped pasta.
apples, fage, and cottage cheese
This is in my draw at work.
soups - tinned and in other containers (low in calorie and nice to have)
olives - always have a jar of those. I keep it in my draw rather then the fridge as a jar doesn't last very long.
Alpen bars (120 calories).
Dates and prunes (dry)
Apples, tangerines, oranges.
Some mini-naans form Sainsbury's (a supermarket chain in the UK). These are quite nice and 128 calories per naan.
Chilli sauces (Tabasco and others) - I love my food spicy. Apparently chilli also increases the metabolism.
Oh yeah and these packets of couscous and tins of mackerel in spicy tomato sauce. One of my colleagues was having some and when I worked out the calories it came to around 500 calories together. I have that on days I play sports with my colleagues.
Talking about food is making me hungry. Soon I'll be heading home and I only have 340 calories left to eat. So although I can eye my drawer longingly I shall refrain from eating anything.
Hey I just realised you said grocery cart :) Doh!
Oh well the main things I would add would be lots of salad stuff! Rice, meat, fish etc we buy from our local stores that cater for the indian community in London.
Mostly healthy :)
I agree. I miss being able to drink from the tap... damn dirty Korean water haha (it's actually okay to drink just tastes too metallic for me).
I always buy: lettuce, bell peppers, a couple potatoes, yogurt, bottled water, granola and some sort of fruit.
