I went on vacation and gained about 3-4 lbs in a week! I am starting to really count my calories and continue to do my daily 1-2 hour workouts in order to shed this. I eat a lot of cottage cheese for protein, as well as veggies, fruits, yogurt and small amounts of bread. I eat up to 900 calories between 8am and 5pm but I'm hungry aaaallll day long. I aim for about 1500-1700 a day. I can't seem to ease the hunger pangs with any of these low-cal foods. Any suggestions on more filling, low-cal foods??? Thanks!
You really shouldn't panic. Unless you managed to sink 14,000 extra calories on your holiday what you've gained is probably fluid, not fat. So all the compensatory behaviour isn't necessary. If you're eating less than normal and flogging yourself to death at the gym you'll feel hungry... stands to reason.
Eat normally, do your regular exercise, drink plenty of fluids and your weight will be back to normal within a week or two. Keep panicking like you are doing and you may set off more problems than you solve.
I think higher protein and fiber foods are more filing. I have a salad with the chicken, chickpeas and red and green peppers, light raspberry & walnut vinigrette. I'm stuffed after eating it.
I also agree with GI Jane the weight may be water.
kashi frozen waffles with frozen berries, on stove top. MY FAVORITE!
Light bread with spray butter
Apples
Strawberrie
Veggie meat
Chew gum
Drink diet soda if you want (as a last resort, the bubbles hold u over)
I brew 12 cups green tea in the am and drink with nustevia (at Gnc) throughout the day.
The more fiber you have, the less you feel hungry because fiber keeps you feeling full as does water.
An amazing health benefit is "apple cider vinegar" I use organic. Goolge the health benefits.(1 is it cleaneses your body so you can kick that nasty sugar/carb craving that is actually caused by candida a disease of sorts that you can usually kick with Apple cider vinegar!!!!)
But, it REALLY makes you not want to eat, please please please try this!
I used to eat like a horse and now I am doing alot better. Keep counting your calories and exercise, even if it is cleaning. roller blading is one of the highest buring calories you can do!
Tip: I love this site under account home, since you can see what you have taken in (food log) verses what is going out (activity log) You need to see a -500 calorie difference every day between the 2 to see weight loss. HOpe that helps!

Thanks for the responses! Christina, I actually know JUST what you are talking about with the apple cider vinegar! It's been about a month since I have last had any (kind of fell off the ACV bandwagon) but my coworker and I use to have the Bragg's brand of organic ACV all the time! I know all about the benefits but never really paid attention to it's ability to fill me up! I will definately go back to using this! Thanks!
What is nustevia?
I've never used apple cider vinegar before...how and when do you use it?
My friend and I would just take a "shot" of it a few times a day. Not sure if this is the recommended amount or not, but regardless, it's good for you!
I am typically a big eater but since I've recently made the decision to get healthy and lose this weight, I find that eating small meals throughout the day helps. I eat my regular 3 meals plus 2 snacks. I have managed to stay under 1500 calories a day and not feel hungry. My only problem now is the late night craving. When I get those I will drink about 16 oz of water and force myself to go to sleep. I love drinking green tea throughout the day which I will allow myself about 2 tsp of regular sugar. This also seems to curb my appetite. I've read the other posts about ACV and would like to try that also.
Good Luck!
the apple cider vinegar idea sounds great! but where can i get that in the UK? cos i havn seen it anywhere and iv been looking!
Hi... first off as I'm sure you're aware... eat slow. That makes all foods more filling. Also, cut back on carbs as those make you hungry faster. Any hi fiber foods will help keep you satisfied. Oatmeal, brown rice, whole meats such as chicken breasts will help too! Don't forget lots and lots of water! :)
You can order Bragg's Organic Raw Apple Cidar Vinegar online. Not sure if that is available in the UK though.
oh okay ill check it out...thanks!
Have you tried taking a supplement? I take them on days when I have a crazy appetite. There's a link on my profile to the ones I take but there are alot of different brands out there. Good luck doll.
